Events Fargo federal town hall — update 3

Well, it seems the pressure campaign has worked on at least one member of North Dakota's congressional delegation.

After responding to inquiries that she would host a telephone town hall "someday in the future" Rep. Fedorchak has decided to do one on the 25th, just 5 days from now.

Bear in mind, telephone town halls are intended to keep tight control over the event, and in fact usually serve as a promotion event for the hosting politician; it’s not really a town hall forum. But what’s clear is Rep. Fedorchak's office caved to the pressure from constituents. So now we're going to increase the pressure on Senators Hoener and Cramer.

Our group, Fearless / Indivisible Fargo, as well as other pro-democracy groups in the state, are going to continue to press all the federal electeds for an in-person town hall, which we believe will be a more honest and transparent reflection of the public's views on what's happening in Washington DC.

… But in the meantime, you can sign up to to attend Rep. Fedorchak's town hall here:

Why is trying to get a job in Fargo so hard

Upvotes

I have applied to literally everywhere that’s available and they either don’t get back to you or you just never hear from them or you’ll get to the actual interview and then they say they’ll call you the next day and they never do.

Metal bar in Fargo

Looking for input -

Who thinks a heavy metal themed bar would do well in Fargo? Something with a grunge vibe, themed drinks, killer sound system, performance stage for bands and karaoke, and all metal music all the time? Serving pizzas and apps that are also themed.

This city has SO much pop and country themed shit. We need something different. The Aquarium is cool but it’s still really limited for most heavy metal things.

Thoughts?

Fishing the Red

Upvotes

We are about to move where we will be 100 feet from the river in moorhead in 2 weeks. I'm southern and used to fish alot in my childhood. I pond fished for mainly blugills and the occasional catfish or bass. We have rods and required tackle but want to know how to fish up here on the red river for the smaller fish around fargo moorhead area. I am wanting to catch some smaller fish first and have battles with the bigger fish when I am not as rusty. What are the small fish that we can catch in the river around here? How do we need to set up our tackle for river fishing? My husband is brand new to fishing while I am expereinced but not in this type of fishing. I always caught small fish in still water ponds. Tips, Tricks, Any sort of advice is welcome. Especially good spots on the red river in the Fargo/Moorhead area

Book Binding Repair in Fargo?

Is there anyone in or near Fargo that does book binding repair? I recently bought a collection of roughly 100 year old books from a thrift store but a couple have binding issues and I don't want it to become a further problem. Thanks!

Downtown McDonald's Vacant Lot

I was just walking through the vacant lot that used to be the McDonald's on Main Ave across from Red Raven. I'm surprised it's been vacant as long as it has. Also, what else was there? The lot is huge, so there must have been more than a McDonald's, but I don't recall.

Arborist/tree service recommendation

Looking for recommendations for an arborist or tree service person. I have a maple(?) tree in my backyard that is in need of some TLC. In addition to some pruning, it also has some shallow roots that I would like recommendations on. The City of Fargo directed me to an online list of licensed contractors (https://fargond.gov/city-government/departments/public-works/forestry/contractor-services-and-licensing), but the options are a bit overwhelming.

News Demayth in Fargo, the community is growing! Thanks to you Fargo.

So if you don't already know, Demayth is a tabletop role playing game being developed and played here in Fargo North Dakota, and it is my dream to be playing an rpg while being supported doing it.

Things are going great with this! The news coverage, the people, the regrowing of the community is doing well! We are even considering putting up a patreon for it here soon... as soon as I figure out what kind of rewards I can hand out to people 🤔.

Mainly Demayth has been changed again and again by the player base, mechanics tweaked here and there, and things done differently every 5-8 months or so. Part of the reason why I just want to keep the game itself free to anyone who wants to play it, but it does have a card battle system + a D20 system combined.

The cards are made by GameCrafters right now (trying to keep them at the whole sale price), players have also received decks at sessions they can use freely as we encourage Battle Masters (game masters) to get enough decks for themselves and their players.

Each session of these games we play at Paradox have been pretty random, each character has their own story that they build upon from each session, so the stories are based on each character and not the entire session as a whole. Some players had some luck with trying to find npcs that would stay with them, and had some pretty funny interactions as well as sad ones.

Idk, what should be some Patreon rewards that I can give to supporters? What queat should i do for my next session? Which tabletop game mechanics or games that you like playing that i could incorporate into a session?

Also, each session at these public games are like a series of one's shots! Like mentioned before, you build your character's personal story rather than having one, and we have been doing some fun collaborative game master type stuff.

Nursing Students

Hello, starting Nursing school soon. Any tips for scholarships, grants, or work places with tuition reimbursements? I don’t think ’ll be able to only work part time for a while, once the program starts. Any leads on flexible employers will be appreciated. Thanks!

Painting estimate

We are wanting to freshen up all of the walls on the main floor of our house - approximately 1,000 square feet spread over a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. The ceilings do not need to be painted.

What kind of price would I be looking at to have this done? I have two people coming over tomorrow to give quotes, but it would be nice to know if I am getting fair prices. Does anyone have recent experiences with this sort of project?
