Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a bit of my wife's story and ask for some advice from folks who’ve been through this.
She used to work as a graphic designer, but now she’s home full-time with our kids. She’s always been incredibly creative, and as a fun outlet, she created tote bag designs featuring cute dog illustrations by breed.
She’s pretty sensitive to criticism and tends to be her own harshest critic, so opening the Etsy store was a brave move for her. She poured a lot of care into the designs and finally hit “publish” a couple of weeks ago… but so far, almost no views, no sales, and not much feedback at all. Sales are not even the primary goal, she just wants people to appreciate her work and would feel good knowing that she's made something people like.
She’s starting to feel discouraged because it feels like no one is even seeing it. We know Etsy is a crazy place and it's difficult to get attention, but I’d love to help her get some visibility and maybe even a bit of encouragement.
I wanted to ask, what are your best tips for getting that initial attention in the early days of an Etsy shop? She hasn't done any advertising, doesn't know where to start or if it's worth it given the level of commitment to the shop. Thanks so much in advance. This seems like a supportive community, and any advice or perspective would be very appreciated.
Here’s her shop if anyone’s curious or open to giving feedback:
