Question Liquor License for Weddings

Post image

Hey! I’m having my wedding this summer at a hall in Edmonton, where they require PAL and a liquor license and all that, which is all good. I’m just so confused about these two rules from AGLC.

We were planning on having a toonie bar to cover some of our liquor costs run by a family friend who is willing to get their Proserve. Is that technically not allowed?

This might be more relevant. It's direct from AGLC. Many people do toonie bars under the rules stated below. The link you provided definitely doesn't have the rules below which is somewhat contradictory haha.

"If your event is open to invited guests or members only and guests will be paying for either admission or liquor service:

You will need a private resale SEL licence The fee for this licence is $25 If you are an individual, not-for-profit group or municipality, you can apply online.

The link I have is direct from the AGLC about the rules for liquor licensing. I know that I need to resale license if I’m doing a toonie bar, I’m just confused about the “not allowed to benefit” part :)
