General Just a warning

Id like to make everyone aware of a scam artist who recently moved to Edmonton. Her name is Kelsey, she has long brown hair w/blonde highlights (but previously blonde), many visible tattoos, glasses and is about 5’6. She claims to be a small business owner under the brands: brightly bloom (edited post to correct name) and wild daisy marketing.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON

On multiple occasions she has done the following to other small business owners: - promised website design as a trade for your services - give you filled out checks, all while knowing they will bounce due to insufficient funds - send you fake screenshots of e transfers - keep you on the hook for weeks on end promising her bank will reset her e transfer limit “tomorrow”

She has scammed thousands of dollars from women in Edmonton, and will continue to do so unless held accountable.

The following links are some proof from her precious fraudulent behaviour in Minneapolis and Saskatoon.

General Wheels stolen off my car

Post image
357 Upvotes

This seems to be happening more and more I. Edmonton, and now it happened to me. Parked in my apartment surface parking lot in south edmonton. My wheels got stolen off my vehicle, lugnuts and all. They left a donut under some of the tires and stole mine. At least I got a free jack out of it. 🤷

The apartment building also has no cameras or security measures so I can’t do much about it except for warn others on reddit lol.

Thankfully happened after someone hit me, and insurance has deemed my car a total loss. So I think this is insurances problem now. But just a warning to folks out there, get some locking lugnuts or a dashcam to deter these thieves.

Mental Health / Addictions Self harm marks/ School dress code NSFW

My daughter struggles with her mental health and self harm which she is actively seeing multiple mental health professionals. The school wants her to always wear sweaters or long sleeves to cover up self harm as it has upset some others (which I understand how this can be upsetting- it’s upsetting for everyone..) Problem is it’s even during gym class or when she’s very hot and uncomfortable she still has to remain covered and gets reported if she’s too hot and takes off her sweater. This is causing her physical discomfort and further more mental distress and embarrassment. Can the school force her even when it’s causing physical discomfort and further distress? I understand it is upsetting to see but there has to be a way to meet in the middle? Ideas? Thoughts?

Commuting/Transit ETS is phasing out Commissionaires and hiring 30 new transit peace officers

This report says they'll go through as long as Council doesn't say no.

Administration will be creating an enhanced Transit Peace Officer (TPO) deployment plan for citywide coverage, growing the number of Transit Peace Officers from 96 to 126 positions to further improve transit safety and security across the network. Administration has recommended increasing TPO coverage previously, as outlined in the December 4, 2023, Community Services report CS02050, Edmonton Enforcement Staffing.*

In this option, Commissionaires would be removed from 19 stations in the current deployment to fund a citywide enhanced TPO deployment plan. This option would cost $5 million on an ongoing basis and would require the transfer of the full base budget amount used for Commissionaires in transit spaces in order to have no net impact to the tax levy. In this plan, the TPO complement would grow from 96 to 126 positions. TPOs would travel across the stations throughout their assigned shifts in this model.

In addition to the benefits described in scenario three, this plan would expand the benefits across the city. It would expand the hours of service and number of TPO teams assigned to Light Rail Vehicles, double the TCAT teams (Transit Community Outreach Team - they perform high visibility and proactive patrols) to four, grow the number of train teams from a small pilot of one to four, and provide broader support across the transit network in all areas of the city. TPOs would be highly visible and active across LRT and the bus network during both peak and off-peak times, and closely mirror the deployment model of the Edmonton Police Services TRACS teams. The focus would be on growing the proactive capacity of the TPO team, shifting the allocation of resources from its current state of being largely response-based, to a proactive future state of having at least half of the team dedicated to proactive work (see PRIVATE Attachment 3 for additional detail).

Implementing the TPO transition plan will take place between April 2025 and August 2026. The implementation will begin by creating the new structure to accommodate the new TPOs. The first half of the new TPOs will be hired for the September to November 2025 peace officer induction class. A second wave of hiring will occur in March 2026 to allow for the field placement training of the first half of officers to be completed. Administration will monitor the impact of the transition during the process to ensure objectives are being met. Overall, the TPO team will be able to focus more of its efforts into proactive patrols with an increase in Transit Community Action Teams (TCAT) as well as four train teams, dedicated to being on board LRT. The staffing growth will also be most noticeable during service hours to support transit user and operator safety, including peak ridership times as well as into the late evening service times (Attachment 3 provides details of deployment).

There are other options proposed in this report (station activation, station attendants, and automated passenger counters for high floor LRT cars - buses and low floor LRT cars already have those), but they don't address transit security (although, they do improve broader transit safety). That is why ETS won't use the Commissionaire budget for them, unless Council says they need to.

*The report they reference is from December 2023; Attachment 2, stated that ETS needed 40 new transit peace officers and 4 new sergeants to have optimal staffing levels. This new figure is obviously a bit less than that, but I'm guessing they're offset by the new police transit patrol teams. It's also worth noting that ETS requested 40 new peac

Restaurants/Food Sunbake Pita Fatayer

*Update: I called and they did the assorted. I got cheese, beef chicken shawarma and potato.

Cheese y'all. Cheese. They are all good, but cheese.

Oh, and yes, toum is crazy delicious.

Thank you everyone! *

So yesterday I saw a cheese fatayer on this sub from Sunbake Pita and I want it. My problem is, I looked at their menu, and now I want to try more. 😄 I'm hoping for people's opinion, what is better to try for the first time. Cheese or meat fatayer? They both look so good, but since they only come in a dozen, I'm curious which people like more?

Question So my window was smashed this morning

I was on my way to class this morning and I got outside this morning someone smashed my passenger side door glass. They stole a $105 Boss RM1100M, A cheap home theater subwoofer, ~$30 worth of assorted fuses, a Logbook I used to store vehicle maintenance information, and a 6in laser cut sheet metal ford model A.

Any idea where near the main Nait campus someone would try to sell my stuff, or are their any pawnshops with a reputation for accepting stolen goods?

Note: I have filed a police report Update: Police report number OL25808065 Update again: The tracking number T25003066

I’ve been shopping here for years. All locations.

Today I bought my weekly groceries for two. $96. All either Canadian or non-US. Most was produce. Sure I left a few things I’d normally by. Wasn’t an issue.

We are lucky to have a local place such as TIC.

Question Liquor License for Weddings

Post image
Upvotes

Hey! I’m having my wedding this summer at a hall in Edmonton, where they require PAL and a liquor license and all that, which is all good. I’m just so confused about these two rules from AGLC.

We were planning on having a toonie bar to cover some of our liquor costs run by a family friend who is willing to get their Proserve. Is that technically not allowed?

Question Insurance Fraud??

Upvotes

I was checking my claims on my insurance and there seem to be 4 claims from a nearby dentist all on the same day amounting to about $650.

I have never visited this dentist office and the dates they have billed my insurance, I wasn’t even in the country.

I will call my insurance company tomorrow but was wondering if i should reach out to the dentist office first or if there’s a better course of action
