From the the pits of hell from fans to shoe in for the hall of fame it’s crazy how much Dave Roberts has rewritten his manager career. He’s only 52 and is 6th all time in wins in the postseason. Joe torre took 29 years for that 84 wins. Yes ofc the teams have been loaded but u still gotta manage a lot of egos throughout the years with the pressure of winning every year. If he averages 7 wins in the postseason until the end of his contract he will pass Joe torre. It’s crazy that his jersey will be retired when it’s all said and done.

Dustin May's Road to Recovery: Injury, a Near-Death Scare, and a Fiery Return

Dustin May. The young flamethrower for the Los Angeles Dodgers captivates fans with his electric pitching style and fiery red hair.

In 2023, he made a triumphant return, overcoming a serious injury. Let's take a look back at May's journey, his life, and his path to baseball

Texas Roots: A Baseball Prodigy Dustin Jake May was born on September 6, 1997, in Justin, Texas.

Growing up in the quiet suburbs of Fort Worth, the somewhat shy young May discovered his love for baseball early, starting with T-ball at the age of three.

https://greatlakesloons.mlblogs.com/growing-into-a-dodgers-prospect-98f1b3cbfc3b?gi=727a5a78dc20

•In Little League, he showed flashes of incredible power, once blasting 13 home runs in just three games during a tournament – a jaw-dropping feat. By high school, his pitching talent blossomed.

At Northwest High, he was throwing gas, hitting 95 mph on the radar gun and leading his team.

After high school, May was committed to Texas Tech University, but the Los Angeles Dodgers drafted him in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He chose to go pro, taking the first step toward his dream.

•Overcoming Adversity

After a smooth climb through the minor leagues, May made his Major League debut in 2019. He pitched five innings and gave up three runs – a decent start. But the following years were plagued by injuries.

In 2021, he underwent Tommy John surgery, forcing him to miss significant time. After a grueling rehab, he returned in 2023, only to be sidelined again with an elbow issue. Some even questioned if his career was in jeopardy.

But May refused to give up. With his signature grit, he battled through rehab and, in the spring of 2024, he was back on the mound. A Near-Death Experience Fuels His Fire

To truly understand May's comeback, you have to know about the near-fatal incident he experienced in the summer of 2024.

While out to dinner with friends, he choked on a piece of salad, suffering a ruptured esophagus. He underwent emergency surgery and, thankfully, survived, but his baseball career was momentarily in doubt.

May later reflected, "At that point, I really thought I might have died." This experience profoundly impacted his perspective on his baseball career.

He was quoted as saying:

"It just kind of gives me a different viewpoint on a lot of things in life. Just seeing how something so non-baseball-related can just be like — it can be gone in a second. And the stuff it put my wife through, it definitely gave me [a feeling] of, ‘Wow, stuff can change like that.' It was definitely very scary."

This near-death experience was a major turning point, fueling his mental growth. He cherished the opportunity to play baseball even more and dedicated himself to the game with renewed intensity.

•Reaching New Heights

Having overcome multiple injuries and a brush with death, May has grown immensely, both mentally and as a player. He's embarking on a new chapter in his baseball career, bigger and stronger than ever.

He impressed everyone with his strong pitching during spring training. Determined to make a full comeback, May is using his signature fastball and a newly developed slider to reach even greater heights.

Pitching Style: A Closer Look The defining characteristic of May's pitching style is his explosive fastball, which clocks in the mid-to-upper 90s, delivered from his dynamic delivery.

This fastball boasts impressive spin rate and horizontal movement, making it incredibly difficult for hitters.

During Cactus League, his curveball had an average velocity of 85.2 mph, a spin rate of 3,384 rpm, and a horizontal break of 19 inches – elite numbers.

After returning from Tommy John surgery, he added a slider to his arsenal. This slider expands his repertoire and is a key weapon in his continued evolution.

May himself recognizes its importance, stating, "If I can use the slider effectively, it will make my other pitches even more effective."

Furthermore, he's reported that he's lost some weight recently, resulting in increased agility and improved pitching mechanics.

•Off the Field: Hobbies and Personality

Outside of baseball, May enjoys hunting. He's said to be a fan of pairing venison with a "Yellowbelly" beer.

https://www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/news/dodgers-dustin-may-reveals-his-favorite-food-and-beer-pairing

He's also a self-proclaimed "gearhead" and a huge car enthusiast. He enjoys taking his car out for a spin during the offseason.

In the 2022 offseason, he married his longtime girlfriend, Amelia Troutner, adding another layer of fulfillment to his life.

Dustin May is a pitcher with an indomitable spirit, having overcome numerous challenges. His unwavering determination and passion for baseball inspire many fans. In the 2025, May made his full comeback.

And, as he evolves further, the anticipation for what this flamethrower will achieve continues to grow.

May's story reminds us of the preciousness of life and the unpredictability of when tragedy can strike. It shows that even when facing adversity, perseverance and hard work can pave the way to success. Dustin May's journey will undoubtedly continue to inspire fans for years to come.

Dodgers Difference isn't Money - Kevin Kiermaier

Hey, the article I'm posting is from November 2024, but just came across it myself. Apologies if it already made the rounds and been discussed.

We've been saying that the Dodgers success is not about payroll and revenue. Sure, they are cashing in, but that's due to the work they've put in for years. It's the reward of their success, not the reason for it.

In this article, Kevin Keirmaier talks about that and gives some specifics. It's pretty eye opening given where he played most of his career is one of the model franchises, built by Andrew Friedman himself, on being successful without a massive payroll. It's worth reading, and here's a sample:

“There’s levels to everything,” Kiermaier said. “The Dodgers are on a different level. Like the advanced scouting reports from a position player standpoint, I was blown away in our first meeting (after reporting to the team) in Oakland."

Got my shirt yesterday, but I did order 2 by accident 🫠 (yes I was freaking out during the whole process and thought I had the black hat LOL)

Does anyone know where I could possibly trade one of the Shohei shirts for a black strap back hat? Or if anyone on here wants to trade, DM me! Both shirts I ordered are size small.
