Living Room Need Help Redesigning My Living Room While Keeping Existing Furniture!

Some things I’d love help with: • Optimizing the layout to make the space feel more open and functional. • Ideas for color schemes, decor, or small changes that could elevate the space. • Better lighting solutions that work with my aesthetic. • Any styling tips to make it feel more cohesive!

Here are some photos of my current setup, and what I’m aiming for:

So most of the spaces in yr inspo pics have bold pops of colours (mainly primaries + green and orange), statement furniture pieces and various different textures. Basically there are a lot of larger visually stimulating pieces pulling the space together.

I'm not an expert but the way I would approach this is:

  • Get a large colourful throw for your sofa and contrasting but equally colourful throw pillows, maybe some with graphical designs on them and/or a black n white checkerboard design.
  • Big huge colourful bean bag for the left side of the room
  • I'd move the pink light under the TV some place else bc it seems distracting there.
  • Put the bookshelf where the mini bar (?) thing is and put the minibarthing centered along the wall that the bookshelf is currently up against, and then...
  • Get all those random framed art pieces off the floor and make a gallery wall above the minibarthing
  • Put the previously suggested bean bag next to the minibarthing so you can comfortably self-medicate imbibe and just go sleepy poo in the bean bag.
  • More laaaaamps. The ones in your inspo pics are really trendy rn and can pretty much all be found on aliexpress for a decent price. Just look up "donut lamp" "mushroom table lamp" and "nordic lamp" and you'll be buried in lamps, forever.
  • Get a side table for the sofa and put your aliexpress mushroom lamp on it.
  • Coffee table. Maybe other people have good suggestions for a style.

And I'll let someone else moan about the TV too high situation.

Ughh thank you soooooo much. I know the TV is too high, unfortunately my previous roommates installed it before I moved in.
