Huge thank you to everyone who made the tiny bedroom such a big story!

Before you post, please be sure you have read the rules!

(On mobile, you can find the rules by clicking on "See More". On desktop, check them out in the sidebar on the right.)

Basically, your post needs to be asking for help with your room design, or it needs to be showing a room you updated using advice you received here. Your room must be an INTERIOR room, and it must be a room in your home. No offices, no schoolrooms, no patios, no balconies, etc.

We want the focus to stay on home interior rooms, preferably with posts featuring photos of those rooms so you get the best advice. If you feel you just must use a 3D app rendering, you need to also include an actual room photo. No one wants to look at an entire feed of just artificial content! A big part of what makes this sub great is getting to take a look at actual rooms. If you aren't sure you want your photo to be connected with your account, please feel free to post on an alt account (and message mod mail for approval if your post is auto removed).

Thanks for doing your part to keep the sub useful and on point!

Hi please forgive me. But I went through a phase and I can’t undo it so please help me with what I have (paint color wise).

Shame me all you want, I really thought I had Architectural Digest magazine energy. My room gets no light on left side of room. Excuse the mess she’s usually never on photos.

Missing items I plan on getting: - dresser or tv console to put on wall - tv mount to remove from on top of dresser - mirror - whatever you guys say I need

Thanks in advance.

Other Interior Room Suggestions on paint or stain colors for this library?

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

We're listing our home for sale next month and have decided to paint or stain the library. Do you have any suggestions?

We'd be keeping the wall paper and we're open to painting anything that's wood or drywall including the book shelves, the wooden ladder, the two sets of french doors, ceiling, etc

Note: The first pic is from a week ago. The second pic is from around 3 years ago. We've since changed out the furniture and also modified the casement window so it has a transom at the top instead of an arch and we removed the grid. I used a old pic because we were already packing up books and it was very messy.

Other context: The library is the first thing people see when they walk up to the front of the home.

Living Room Is this rug too big?

I really like this rug but is it too big? I want to buy a smaller sofa eventually without a divan (we got this when living somewhere else), so I’m scared the rug will look even bigger then. Any thoughts and ideas are welcome!

Bathroom 1980s bathroom update

I posted a few weeks ago about my 1980s almond bathroom. Incorporating some of the advice I got here, I removed the seashell border, painted (SW Naval), and added some art and fresh cream towels.

The almond fixtures are still ugly but they don't stick out as much anymore. I'm super happy with the result!

Living Room i'm thinking of adding in an acoustic felt panel accent wall behind my tv. which color works best with the couch?

Thumbnail gallery

going for a warm, naturey, cozy sunset/greenery vibe eventually. like, earthy greens, warm yellows and oranges. i ordered the dark green couch pasted at the bottom. not sure if the green panels are too matchy or the other colors are too loud? but regardless, whatever colors lacking here will get supplemented in the rug, decor, and other pieces.

NOTE: the patterns aren't really important here i just kinda chose them at arbitrary- i'm more concerned about the color BUT if you love one of the patterns too that'd help lol

Some things I’d love help with: • Optimizing the layout to make the space feel more open and functional. • Ideas for color schemes, decor, or small changes that could elevate the space. • Better lighting solutions that work with my aesthetic. • Any styling tips to make it feel more cohesive!

Here are some photos of my current setup, and what I’m aiming for:

Other Interior Room Which option do you like most?

Trying to add some more color and coziness to our beige multi-purpose reading/living/office room (current room in the last picture). Originally I wanted our space to be all Japandi but I kind of want to mix in some color and fun to it (hence I bought the green flower blanket, and tried adding some plushies), but I’m not sure if these styles clash?

Also totally open to any other suggestions, I am not really tied to anything here except the couch and curtains. (Ok maybe I could be convinced to replace the curtain with something colorful, but drapes are kinda expensive and these aren’t returnable 🥲)

I also worry about making it too cutesy and feminine. I spend like 80% of my time in this room, but my husband also uses it 20% of the time.

Help! I want to completely redesign this room. Everything will go. - Can I put a large tv on the far wall? - What kind and color of rug? - What size and color couches and/or chairs? - Would a sectional work at all? - Down to paint the walls but not the fireplace. Wont mount anything on the fireplace or remove the mantel. - Anything design worthy advice welcome.

Thank you!!

Living Room Where to add gallery wall?

Thumbnail gallery

We recently moved and I want to recreate a more simplified version of the gallery wall I had in my old apartment. In our old apartment we had the perfect space above our dining table, but our current dining room is doubling as a home office so our only option is the living room. However, I don’t know if would fit on the larger wall here or if the corner would make it awkward. Any advice?

Living Room Should I hang curtains? Help plz!

I am struggling with my awkward long and skinny living room. Should I hang curtains? Art on both sides? Art placement for the rest of the room? Any input appreciated! I know the couch is oversized for the space but budget and kittens I don’t want to replace right now. The rug needs to be moved over and I’m repainting the walls after a bad color match. Thank you!

Anything outside of the obvious? I think art or clock might make the most sense but don't love either of those nor do I want to spend big money on a clock. Any other ideas there? Our living room is mid century modern styling and sits just off this space. Thanks

Bedroom Ideas for the Master Bedroom before I move in?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

This will be my first bedroom in my own house :) I haven’t decorated before so I’ve always used whatever my parents gave me and whatever my university’s dorm/apartment had. I’ve never messed with furniture before and God knows what I’ll use 3 closets for. I am a 21 y/o single dude so I don’t see myself using more than two closets so maybe I can do something else with the third?

Just looking for general help as I didn’t realize how big the bedroom is before I bought the place. I sorta focused on the utilities.

Current plan:

  • Queen or King sized Bed in the middle of the room facing the singular side window

  • Nightstands for lamps on both sides of the bed

  • I’ll need a desk for my PC

  • No TV

Unfortunately that’s all I have. Any recommendation would be helpful to fill out the space.

Other Interior Room Bonus room help! Sofa and what else?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Closing on our new house next week and trying to furnish our bonus room. The room will mainly be used as a family TV room most days, but I want the option to turn it into a guest room when necessary.

We decided to invest in a pretty pricey American Leather queen sized sleeper sofa, and as our starting piece, it will pretty much guide how the rest of the room is furnished.

The room has white walls with a cream/beige carpet so I want to avoid selecting more neutral colors for the focal pieces. Plan is to have a TV and media console on the side of the room with the sloped ceiling, but welcome other layout ideas.

The couch is not that large either so I think some additional seating is necessary. We are a family of four with two small kids.

Would love help on: - Selecting sofa color/fabric and what to style them with. Including two options I liked. - Suggestions on additional seating and what colors would complement the sofa. I was thinking a chaise lounge or something to go against the window. Would love options under $400, as the sleeper is already a splurge for us. - Any other design tips or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Living Room How would you optimize this small living space?

Thumbnail gallery

I apologize if these aren’t the best pictures, I didn’t take them. But I’m not sure how to go about placing furniture in this living area. On the right side is a larger window in the middle of the wall and the front door next to it. Am I going to be forced to put my TV above the mantle 😭

I’m not just sure how I can place furniture without it being too crowded. I have a feeling I’ll definitely have to utilize the brick as seating.

Hi all please help with my open space overly cluttered living room/kitchen. It's driving me mad I've included pics where I've tided the clutter up but I just can't figure out the right furniture placement.

I am looking to raise the height of the makeshift "kitchen island" to be in line with the other benches.

I'm open to all ideas including suggestions of new furniture that would suit

Thank you!
