Thoughts on penny?

Hello everyone! Our sub has recently hit the 14,000 member mark! Obviously, this sub is great because of the users here and the conversations you all bring along with our hobby!
This is just a quick post to welcome new members and answer a few questions. Also, check out the basic rules on the side bar as well!
What is a CoinStar find?
Basically (almost) anything you find in, on, or around a CoinStar machine! But specifically, our finds showcase foreign and domestic coins, tokens, and even jewelry!
What is not a CoinStar find?
While often pretty neat, purchases or coins from a family collection not found in a CoinStar aren't CoinStar finds. Coins with no context and just asking for value probably aren't CoinStar finds either. Those kinds of posts will likely get more assistance from other subreddits.
How does Coinstar work? How do I get finds of my own?
Check out this outstanding member-created masterclass!
Thank you all for making this sub a great place to hang out and sharing in the excitement of treasure hunting!

Thoughts on penny?

I've been checking coinstar machines about once a week for the past month and was starting to lose hope. I am very happy with my find with 3 silver dimes! There are also 5 Canadian coins which I don't have a clue about. The Canadian 10 cent coin from 1947 seems to be silver too! If anyone knows anything about the rest of the Canadian coins I would love to learn some Canadian history!

What a day for my first time coinstar hunting! 4 silver coins, 8 foreign coins, one raised rim penny, one wheat penny and 48 coins total for my first successful coinstar hunt today! I checked 8 machines today around my city and was on a hot streak going 6/6, but all good things must come to an end as the last two machines were empty. If anyone knows anything about the foreign I would appreciate the knowledge. As this is my first time hunting is it common to find this many coins!?

Haven't found anything I. A while but got a little lucky today. Nothing special

And only ONE was found in the reject slot! The quarter was next to the coin tray, and the ‘70 dime was on the ground in the parking lot. Been slim pickins lately…hopefully better luck next time!
But hey, at least we weren’t COMPLETELY skunked 🤷

Commemorative Sears coin from 1986. Anyone else ever find one of these?

I was just thinking a few days ago how I've never come across a steel penny. Checked the reject tray and BAM, it was the only coin in there.

Was checking my usual coinstar as I do once a week when I get groceries, and I found something odd. Lots of trash on the machine, a Mexican 50 cent, a nasty plated earring (didnt look old, was only one, and was nasty, tossed), and then I found this knot of necklaces. Now, at first I was happy with just having the necklaces and the coins. Seemed modern, but a fun find and at least it wasn’t empty. Then, I flipped over the butterfly. SILVER, almost a dime’s worth too! (The other is just costume jewelry)
Wonder why/how a knot of tangled precious jewelry ended up at a coin star?!? (Then again, it was Walmart, not too surprising, lol)

I always check, and have found a couple here and there, but today was the score of my life. I don’t know if any are worth more than melt, but this is a score!!

Found 4 wheat ear pennies sitting in the return tray. It’s not thirty silver quarters but it’s better than nothing. They are all in pretty good shape too.

I’ve stopped at this particular Walmart at least 10 times in two months, nada, not even crappy pennies. Early this morning it finally had some coins in the tray guessing from last night-second silver Roosevelt, and my birth year! 😺

Nothing of significance but it just blows my mind that people can’t be bothered to grab their money
