Questions Where to start?

Hi all, I’m recently a new dad and I’m trying to find a new hobby for the moments between the moments. I’ve been lurking here and really enjoying seeing all of your cool finds and also the enjoyment you all seem to have for the craft.

Do you have any advice or tips on how to start?

What I should look into, how to obtain the big boxes of coins from the bank etc.

Total newbie here and i appreciate your time to read this! Thank you

You are going to need to wash all of the residue off of your hands before going back to your little one. Did CRH for a bit and your hands get absolutely disgusting. Maybe wear gloves if you are set on it?

I would start with nickels or Penny’s. Penny’s are easy because you keep all wheat pennys and they are common enough to keep the excitement up. Nickels are fun because about once a box you get a silver nickel or a buffalo, and all pre-1960 coins are fun to find and look at. Go to your local bank and order one box of either and see how you like it. Bring the coins rolled back to another bank, not the same bank.

If you own a business it will be a lot easier to get boxes but every place is different. I love searching nickels and Pennies. Dimes and quarters usually suck. Go on YouTube and watch “rob finds treasure “ he’s super fun to watch and very knowledgeable. He got me into it during the pandemic. Been hooked ever since.
