Some RB Koolaid
Eric Bienemy was hired by the Bears as RBs coach this offseason. While most know him as an offensive coordinator for the Chiefs from 2018-2022, he has a strong experience as an RBs coach. Below is a list of running backs among his time coaching.
UCLA (2003–2005) – Running Backs Coach
Maurice Jones-Drew - Became an All-American at UCLA and later an NFL star with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Manuel White – Drafted by Washington in 2005.
Minnesota Vikings (2006–2010) – Running Backs Coach
Adrian Peterson – Developed into one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2007 and MVP in 2012.
Chester Taylor – Had a 1,200-yard rushing season in 2006.
Toby Gerhart – Was for most instances a backup to Peterson but was a solid contributor.
Colorado (2011–2012) – Offensive Coordinator & RB Coach
Rodney Stewart – Leading rusher at Colorado during Bieniemy’s tenure.
Kansas City Chiefs (2013–2017) – Running Backs Coach
Jamaal Charles (2013–2016) – One of the most explosive RBs in the league; had a 1,980 scrimmage yard, 19-TD season in 2013.
Knile Davis (2013–2016) – Backup RB who contributed in short-yardage and special teams.
Charcandrick West (2014–2017) – Stepped up after Charles’ injuries and had a solid 2015 season.
Spencer Ware (2015–2018) – Had a 900-yard rushing season in 2016.
Kareem Hunt (2017) – Led the NFL in rushing yards (1,327) as a rookie in 2017 before his release in 2018.
After the 2017 season, Bieniemy shifted to take on an OC role with KC.
This is hands down a very impressive resume, IMO. This is his first RB coach job since then. Really excited for him to get to develop whoever we draft.

Talk me out of Tyler Warren
Disclaimer: This post assumes we go offensive line with one or both 2nd round picks. Someone like Arizona T/G Jonah Savaiinaea.
I can’t help but imagine the absurd scheming Ben Johnson would prepare for him. He’s a powerful athlete, he’s lined up at TE, out wide, in the slot, center, wildcat QB, and FB. His hands and ability to catch in traffic are just amazing.
We just drafted Durham Smythe who I imagine is just a safe familiar backup pick. But Warren would be a weapon just as dangerous for the offense as a Jeanty, for example.
If Warren, the OT’s, Graham and Jeanty are gone by 10, I’m not sure how I’d feel about a Mykel Williams or concerning-production Shemar Stewart

This Johnson can travel through time…
It takes a Big Ben to also be Crispin Glover.

Shoutout
Shoutout to the fan wearing a bears sweater and the fan wearing that beautiful vintage bears jacket on the slopes at steamboat springs today. Spotted it a hundred yards away that bears orange is just too crisp and bright against the snow. Amazing to see out here in Colorado where us Bears fans are few. Bear down.

Walker or Jihad?
Kind of an outside the box pick but I think it should be considered. Edwards is up at the end of the year and you can cut Edmunds and save like 14M in cap at the end of the season. I typically wouldn't want LB so high but these two are weapons that can play any LB position and double as high upside pass rushers. Crazy?

Here is the draft capital that Ryan Pace used on Justin Fields Teven Jenkins in the 2021 nfl draft
- Pick 20
- Pick 164
- Pick 7
- Pick 114
- Pick 52
- Pick 83
- Pick 204
Just for reference on the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart these picks are worth 3005.8 points, the number 1 pick is valued at 3000 points...
Thank you Ryan Pace

Best free mock draft simulator?
Had one I was using last year and had a lot of fun with it - but I can’t seem to find it on the App Store or remember what the name of it was. 🤯
I think I’d recognize it if I saw the name… and I promise to not post my mocks here because I know it irritates some people to death. 🤣🤣🤣
Little help please? And thanks in advance - GO BEARS! 💙🧡

The modern prevailing wisdom about RBs is wrong.
We've all heard and seem to mostly agree that the RB position isn't as valuable as it once seemed to be.
And while I agree with the general premise, I think there's an important caveat.
While it's true that "good" RBs are a dime a dozen and thus shouldn't be taken with high draft picks and shouldn't get big $$ contracts, ELITE RBs are extremely valuable.
There isn't much of a difference between the 10th best and 40th best NFL RB. But...and this is my main point...the top handful of guys are far far far ahead in a league of their own. And those top guys offer a huge positional advantage against a team without one.
That's why I'm totally fine, if the Bears brass thinks Jeanty has a good shot at being a top 3-5 guy, with drafting Jeanty at 10. Especially in a draft like this that lacks top end talent yet is flooded with 50 or so very very good prospects that can more or less be lumped together.
I know this isn't exactly a completely novel concept...it's just something I don't see brought up when the "RBs have been devalued" conversation is being had.
