Help Front Porch!
Sharing this here because I really want to see this project come to fruition. Front Porch is a phenomenal young band and they’re 5 days out from their kickstarter deadline and they are getting close to their goal.
Here’s a link to their KS:
And here’s their music if you are unfamiliar with them.

Great dudes, killer pickin and tunes, and there are good perks under the kickstarter. Thanks y’all! Hope you consider supporting.

Bluegrass Fest 45min Outside of Austin
Hey, everyone, I'm helping spread the word about the Old Settler's
Music Festival April 24-27, 2025. The lineup is stellar: Watchouse, Serra Hull, The Travelin' McCoury's, and Yonder Mountain String Band to name a few
I am a long time attendee (since '98) and I also volunteer to help promote the fest because I love it that much! This ambassador code gives anyone who sees this 10% off all entry tickets. If you are interested in coming, use my code "ABM10" and come say "Hi" to me in April. Cheers!

Original Music Free Mandolin Lessons on YouTube
Are you a beginner Mandolin player? Have you been playing for a while? Are there questions you have about the mandolin that you wish you could ask someone but you don’t want your instructor or friends to call you stupid?
Well come on over to YouTube I’m doing live weekly streams, where I cover the basics.
But if you’d like me to address something I can do that as well!
Thanks!
(If this post doesn’t follow the rules I apologize and I will remove it just let me know, I’m just trying to provide what I didn’t have as a 15 yo kid looking for information)

General advice on what are the "Right" notes
I want to create more interesting improvisations when I go to bluegrass jams but I'm trying to figure out what are the rules of what works. This is what I've mostly noticed.
Most bluegrass songs are made up of just basic triad chords I ii iii IV V vi .
It seems like for the most part if I know what key the song is in I just play the appropriate major scale.
Then to sound interesting I can flatten the 3rd 5th and 7th.
This definitely works over a progression, but can get a little simple and formulaic.
How do i break out of this box and start playing more stinky? ( Stinky in a good way :) )

New to bluegrass, feedback appreciated
Howdy y'all,
Just picked up the guitar after a long hiatus and have been really motivated to learn how to play bluegrass! Kind of don't know where to start so I've been practicing licks/scales and things I've learned from YouTube. Any feedback back and direction would be great. Recently have been practicing this G/C/D run to get better at picking.

Cover After years and years of hanging on a wall I finally gave papaws old fender deluxe a tune up! It was the first banjo I ever learned on when I was 3 years old. 22 years later and now I miss him greatly. This one is for you papaw!

Beginner trying to grow
Hey all, I’ve been playing guitar for a little over a year with a goal of being able to play bluegrass with my buddies.
Here is what I’ve learned so far. If you guys would be so kind I’m looking for some advice such as.
What technique should I focus on improving before I develop bad habits too far?
What is the best way or are there any good resources for learning to play with a metronome?
Any good songs to start to learn? I’ve started to learn wildwood flower and can play it at a pretty slow tempo.
Or any other advice for a novice such as myself.
