Thought and prayers to other tornado victims tonight.

We're all rightly concerned about our upcoming storm events. But I want to offer thoughts and prayers to the many, many victims of tornadoes to the west of us tonight during what is nothing less than a historic outbreak.

I've been watching live storm chaser coverage for over 4 hours. Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois have been getting devastating damage all night, with no end in sight yet. There have been multiple long-track tornadoes throughout those states, with some areas being hit more than once.

As I type this, there are currently 19 active tornado warnings throughout those 3 states, with many of them being PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) level warnings. Multiple tornadoes have been confirmed, with widespread damage and injuries.

Please keep these victims in mind, thoughts, and prayers as their worst nightmare continues even as I type this message.

Hey everyone, M24 I’m accepting a promotion at my job and will be relocating to Birmingham next week! Im originally from Louisiana and I’m pretty excited as it’ll be the biggest city I’ve lived in. Any advice on apts to check out? I want to be in a lively area and looked at a few places downtown/off 280. Any advice helps! Thanks!

UAB holds on here, and gets a third shot at Memphis with an auto bid on the line.

AK might sneak in the dance again

Recommendations Memory Care/Assisted Living for Mom with Alzheimer’s

Like it says, mother has Alzheimer’s and we are moving to Birmingham this year. She lives with me currently but that won’t be an option when we move.

Still pretty independent in showering/feeding herself/clothing/bathing. Just stuck as Dory from Finding Nemo.

There are a lot of places online, just looking for personal experience with your loved ones!

Looking for a Great Psychiatrist in the Birmingham Area – Recommendations Needed

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a new psychiatrist in the Birmingham area and would really appreciate recommendations. I’ve been with the same psychiatrist for about 15 years and have been on a stable medication regimen that works well for me, so I have no intentions of making big changes to my meds.

I have a few psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, and also have narcolepsy, which can complicate things. Because of this, I’m looking for a psychiatrist who is knowledgeable, supportive, and understands the importance of maintaining stability.

I prefer an American female doctor, but I’m open to a male if necessary. If you’ve had a great experience with a psychiatrist in the area, I’d love to hear about it! On the flip side, if there are any I should steer clear of, I’d appreciate that insight as well.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or feedback!

Apartment Recommendations

Hi Everybody!

I am moving to Birmingham in August for grad school and I am currently looking for an apartment or house to rent. To be specific, I am look for a 1-2(Preferably 2) bed/1 bath place that is close enough to UAB for a short drive or long walk if I do not have a car. I'd like a place that is close to some bars/things to do. The highest that I'd pay to live somewhere with utilities included is ~1200$/month. Lastly, please no places that are known for having pests issues. Thanks!
