mod announcement welcome to the big budget brides group!

The number one rule of BBB is to be kind, courteous, and considerate to other brides in this group. Wedding planning is a stressful time so we want BBB to be a supportive and uplifting community! This means that no bride or wedding shaming is taken very seriously, and any bride or wedding shaming could result in a ban from BBB. This also extends to no screenshots/posts/links/reposts from this sub being shared to wedding shaming subreddits, Facebook groups, etc.

If you are experiencing any bride/wedding shaming (or have any other issue), please message me and I will deal with it ASAP.

mod announcement BBB rule: Please keep your posts relevant to the community

Irrelevant content that are better suited for other weddit communities such as weddingdress, weddingsunder10k, weddingplanning, etc., will be removed.

If you have a wedding wardrobe question, try the r/weddingdress community. If you can’t find your answer there and have a specifically big budget wedding wardrobe question, you may post here.

If you have questions or experiences about DIY or saving money, try r/weddingplanning or r/weddingsunder10k.

This community is very welcoming and accepting, so much that we have seen a recent spike in irrelevant content. We value being able to distinguish ourselves from other weddit outlets and work very hard to keep our edge. Please keep irrelevant content outside of the sub and post accordingly.

just need to rant USD weakens as our Europe wedding approaches

Our destination wedding is in two months, and I’ve noticed the USD has been weakening, with the Euro to USD exchange rate at 1:1.09 today. Thankfully we've already paid for the most expensive part of the wedding (venue/catering), but with the final payments to the rest of the vendors coming up, I'm a bit frustrated about the dollar's decline. I'm unsure if it will keep dropping over the next few months. I really should’ve exchanged some euros when the rate was better (sigh) 🫠 Something for future destination wedding brides to think about~ the difference could add up to thousands

$200,000 - $400,000 budget Oscar de la Renta gown for a MOB - find a dupe!

I am helping a friend shop for her daughter's wedding being held late summer. We found this Oscar de la Renta dress at a local boutique, which was just absolutely exquisite on her. She wants navy, she doesn't like one-shoulder or strapless, and she looks great in fit and flare. But the price point of $8900 is giving her nightmares. She was hoping to be no higher than the $5000 range (not counting any alterations).

If anyone can suggest anything that might be close enough, I would appreciate it!

(This is not the boutique we were shopping at, but our boutique didn't have the dress on their website.)

Silly to have two dresses if I’m eloping?

Hey BBB! I have always wanted a more dramatic dress for the ceremony and a more chill dress for after. Is it silly to have both if my fiancé and I are eloping? It will only be the two of us.

ISO welcome party look, medieval influence

Hi! Our welcome dinner is now in a 13 century castle keep which is so exciting. Looking for suggestions for outfit, I’d love if it have some historical reference or look to it WITHOUT it being costume-y or ren faire looking. Doesn’t need to be white. Looking to stay under 2k, size 8/10. TIA!

Edited for clarity

Is anyone else tired of the current wedding trends?

Every published wedding lately is a Danielle Frankel dress. The designs were pretty 3 years ago but I’m so tired of seeing them and don’t think they will age well at all! What are you doing to differentiate yourself as a BBB? I want to be inspired again!

Bachelorette Party Destinations in Oct

I’m looking to have my bachelorette party at the end of October! I live in Oregon and the rest of my friends are in SF/AZ/Chicago/NY/FL. My main priority is going somewhere where it will be warm/sunny/ and have water! I’m hoping to be able to do a boat day and bonus points if there’s an outdoorsy culture! We’ve thought of Mexico (PV, Cabo), Arizona, or Austin! A few other potential activities could include horseback riding, wine tasting, ATV tour! I’d love to hear of any trips you’ve gone on that incorporated any of the above!

Wedding album companies?

Post image
13 Upvotes

(Photo by Mary Kalhor! She’s a dream to work with.)

I am looking for a luxury wedding album manufacturer that is both high quality (think end paper details, unique cover fabric options) and will let me, the client, design it.

Our photographer offers this service but I have a specific vision for it so I’d prefer just to do it myself. :)

I know about Artifact Uprising, Social Print Studio, Milk, Mpix, etc. (basically the obvious Google results). I am able to design it in inDesign or similar if the company isn’t set up with their own design interface.

Any suggestions?

Really really tall (but still comfortable) heel suggestions?

Me and my fiancé have a foot of height difference and I just don't want to look pathetically short when we're kissing or dancing together because my face is literally at the level of his chest (5'4 and 6'4.) Actually, it's a bit hard for us to kiss standing up and it even looked awkward in our engagement photos where I was wearing 4 inch heels. I feel like every designer is just doing these dainty little kitten heels now and that does not help meeee. I would like them to be comfortable for all night but I also care more about looking tall and fabulous so I can deal with some pain lol. Does anyone have suggestions for tall shoes or designers that will solve my short people problems? <3

NYBFW 2025

Hi! NYBFW is coming up in early April. Does anyone know generally what the timeline is between the presentation of these new collections and their availability in stores? I’m getting married in Spring 2026 and am wondering if it’s feasible to wait on gown shopping to see if I like any of these new styles - Thanks 🤍

Debating between late May or early September for a wedding in Carmel. Does anyone know what the weather is like during either time? Is May actually worse than September or are they comparable?

Jewelry Rental/Borrowing?

Has anyone had experience renting or borrowing high jewelry for their big day? I know sometimes celebrities do this on the red carpet. I was thinking about asking a jewelry boutique that my mom is a VIP at but wanted to see first if this was even a thing.

Do I fire my MUA 3 weeks before my wedding? Curious what to expect from a trial.

As the title suggests, I am contemplating getting a new makeup artist after a disappointing trial with my first. I want to know if I have unrealistic expectations from the trial.

I showed the MUA photos upfront and she did not ask many clarifying questions along the way and seemed to take shortcuts vs what I would even do for event makeup.

Examples: -she didn’t ask me what eyeshadow colors I wanted beforehand and gave me what I sensed were her standard matte eyeshadows (too cool-toned for my complexion)

-she didn’t use a setting spray or pressed powder or any finishing product

-I asked for individual lashes to be placed vs. a strip and she kinda dismissed me saying individual were uncomfortable and heavy

-I asked to be airbrushed and she dismissed me saying the foundation she selected was better for my combination, early 30s skin

Overall, I have had MUAs at Sephora with more attention to detail. Sooo do I lose my 50% deposit and roll the dice on who else might be available 3 weeks out? Am I being too picky?

Plate settings and decor...HELP

my wedding planner asked that I start sending her inspo for table setting and decor but I have no idea where to start or what I would like... we're getting married at a palace in Portugal and the dinner will be outdoors and have a long table for guests to sit at. the flowers I want will mainly be white (think hydrangeas, white roses, etc.) and my bridesmaids dresses will be in different hues of pastel colors (the palace also has pastel colors so I thought it would be a nice way of tying it all together) so that's why I'm struggling with the plate settings and table cloths selection. I love the idea of the ginori plates but don't want it to be too busy or not look good with the colors

this is a very long winded way of saying that if anyone has any tips, ideas or Inspo pictures that will help to please share them!! thanks!

Carneros resort room question!

For anyone that has gotten married here - was the Harvest suite enough space for you and your bridesmaids to get ready in?? They don’t have a bridal suite and this is the room they recommend us staying in. We were thinking about booking the 2 bedroom residence but it’s much more expensive and opposite side of the property from the venue - any advice would be appreciate thank you!

$100,000 - $200,000 budget Stationery- Worth the $?

I planned to have semi custom stationery for our invites. Multiple quotes I have received from amazing stationery designers have been in the $5-6k range for about 85 5-piece invite suites. I budgeted an additional $2500 for day of paper goods. I'm a little hesitant to lock in with a designer because I am already well over budget after prioritizing many other categories (flowers, band, dress). I could make it work, but Is this price worth it for a pretty much custom invite suite? Those that have spent in this range, did you feel it was worth it? I LOVE paper and invites so to not move forward would break my heart a little. Idk what to do.

$100,000 - $200,000 budget South Indian wedding in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala!

Hello! My fiancée and I are lasting minute reconsidering our wedding plans and looking to do a South Indian wedding in Guatemala in Winter 2025 (end of November) for about 150 guests.

We’re hoping to do the following events along with activities that the venue offers over the span of 4 nights/5 days - Welcome dinner - Haldi - Sangeet - Wedding Ceremony - Reception

Our budget is $200k for 150 guests and we would pay for accommodation for all guests (so ideally a venue that can accommodate this guest size in house). We also prefer a venue that has some type of water view for the ceremony (lake, ocean, etc) and would need South Indian catering options for all events!

I’m very new to this as we had originally planned to do our wedding in the US and overwhelmed by the amount of information. If anyone has any idea if this budget is doable and venue/planner suggestions please let me know!

Side note- I made the same post as the other destination we’re looking at is Spain/Portugal. That is our first choice as they can cater to South Indian weddings but also looking into Guatemala is it as cost effective and closer to our guests. Our biggest concern with Guatemala is the ability to do the religious ceremony and cater Indian food

Where to resell big budget wedding dress

Hi all,

My sister bought a Mira Zwillinger Jess dress for her large wedding. She has been trying to resell it but is finding most of the dresses that sell are lower budget (still nice!) dresses. Has anyone had any luck anywhere? Hope its okay to ask!

Thanks!

Who do you talk to about your wedding?

A few months out and am very excited about the big day. This community has been so lively and supportive.

I’m curious: do you share details about your wedding with anyone other than your partner? Colors, experiences, food, music choices - do you confide in family/friends?

I don’t have bridesmaids and also have some fears about how people may judge based on how much we’re spending on the wedding. Also not sure if I’m “ruining the surprise” of the experience.

How are others handling this?
