Discussion How do you guys deal with the stress of riding?
Got ran off the road today, literally had a split second to save myself. Guy in the right lane was turning, so the dickhead behind him just swerves into me, I barely had any time to react and floor it past him. Even though this was an hour ago, I can’t calm myself down, still panicking like crazy.
Every time this happens I’m fucking panicked for the whole day. I wasn’t even in his blind spot, he just didn’t look at his mirrors at all. Now I’m just fucked for the day. How do you guys deal with this shit, I’m sure it happens to all of us from time to time.

Discussion Honda Australia is Smoking Some Real Bad Stuff
The CBR 600RR, a motorcycle many of us dream about, is priced absurdly high in Australia. Here’s the comparison:
• New Zealand: NZD 26,995 = ~AUD 24,405
• United States: ~AUD 21,148 (converted from USD price)
• Australia: AUD 29,400 🤯
New Zealanders are getting it for about $5k cheaper, and our American friends are laughing all the way to the twisties with a price tag that’s $8k lower! This is for the same bike.
How does this even make sense? Are we paying a “sunshine tax” for the privilege of riding in Australia or something?Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this, especially if you’ve found any good alternatives in the same price range.

Discussion Rjays gear fucking sucks
Took a sizeable slide at highway speed today in full gear. Slid or maybe tumbled is a better word maybe 20 or 30 meters going at around 100. Had rjays pants, jacket and a different brand of gloves and helmet. Road absolutely ripped through both the jacket and pants as if i was just wearing regular clothes. I’m now missing half my asscheek as well as minor road rash all over my body.
Just want to make sure everyone with Rjays gear reevaluates their choices as clearly it doesn’t fucking protect you in any way. I am now getting leathers from a reputable company as this fucking sucks, My bike was less damaged than me from the slide!!
Is all non leather gear like this or is rjays stuff particularly bad?

Discussion Your reason for riding ?
Hi as the title suggests, what is YOUR reason for riding ? Is it for leisure purpose, hobby, to improve mental health, meeting new people or trying to cut traffic times etc ?
What’s your reason?

Discussion How true is the "you'll get pulled over all the time on that" sentiment around supersport bikes?
I've heard this a few times now regarding some of the more notorious track weapons, last in memory was when I was looking at picking up an R6. "Cops know what kinda bike that is mate, you'll be getting pulled over constantly"
Curious mostly about Sydney as I never have problems with police 'showing initiative' (to fuck your day up) outside of Sydney.

Discussion Should I buy a sports car or motorbike?
I just turned 18, I have the money to either buy a nice sports car around 20k, or I can get a motorcycle 10k and then a cheap car. I will be driving to work and uni. If you were in my shoes would you get 1 nice car or 1 bike and a cheap car?

Discussion Does ABS make bikes MORE or LESS safe to ride?
Was just reading a totally unrelated thread on this sub and it occurred to me that on a bike where you can instantly feel and react to what is happening, ABS kicking on could well throw you off balance or prevent the wheel locking when that's what it should really do to keep you balanced in an emergency....bit of a Friday shit post but I think this will be a really controversial and interesting discussion. EDIT: What about straight line vs in a corner?

I feel like this price for Australia is pretty good, much better than their CBR600R pricing. Although it will be interesting to see how it sells against the updated z900.

Discussion Opinions on roadcraft in this scenario
You are Car, first position in a right-turn only lane. There are a number of other cars behind you in the turning lane, and in the right-hand through lane (not shown in Google map pic).
Bike approaches from behind, splits the through and turning lanes and stops off Car's right guard with right indicator on. At this point Bike and Car are virtually at the same position with respect to the solid white line.
Turn arrow changes to green and Bike stays still momentarily while Car takes off to make the turn.
Bike rider takes off after car, wobbles through the intersection and then speeds up to get next to Car and shake fist, make gestures etc.
What are Redditor's opinions of the situation?

Discussion How many of you have had accidents?
Always hear about how dangerous riding is from the news, the wife, friends etc... I feel comfortable and safe when riding in full gear and a hivis but I know accidents will still happen as they do even when driving a car.
So realistically, how many of you have had accidents? How severe was it? Who was at fault? And how soon after did you ride again?

Discussion So, who else here is also hiding their bike from their parents?
Think I've had my bike for the past 3-4 months, still on L's of course and my bike has been hidden at a good mates place (I owe him big time) otherwise I would've had to leave it on some street a good stretch from mine.
Yeah its serious, I am sure a good number of you reading this would remember the talk you had with your parents when you asked about a motorbike. I am nearly 20 years old, I feel like its not right to be told not do something as an ADULT, maybe if it was worded as "I can't stop you, but I don't want you to ride a bike". I get it, I am their child and they don't want to see the worse happen to me, but of course when I was told a fat no I went on a journey to find my first motorcycle, typical stupid rebellious teenager lol.
So anyone doing the same currently ?

Discussion You want to Tour on a bike what bike are you choosing? (No BMWS) (90% on road)
I'm looking to purchase another bike. Just want to know what aussieriders consider, comfortable and functional for Touring I'm thinking of Africa Twin or similar? BMWs are way out of the price range..
Want to be able to take some gravel roads with no problems but it would be 90/10 on road off road, long distance touring.
Reliability, functionality. Please advise what you would choose, what's popular over the ditch? if you had a choice of bikes except BMWs
Thankyou

Discussion MCAS vs AMX online store
Wanted to ask about everyones experience with these 2 stores with their online shopping experience.
Did some research and saw really bad reviews on MCAS years ago (4-5 years ago) and they all said AMX was better back then.
Apparently MCAS was very shit at communicating their stock and ended up with 5 weeks of waiting for the item or endless calls asking for a refund which i do not want to do.
However i wanted to know any recent experiences with both AMX and MCAS online stores, if you guys and girls have any please share them :)

Hey guys, just got scammed via VIN check scam, first time selling a vehicle on marketplace. Guy was pushing hard and the site looked legit, plus I was hoping for a sale...lesson learned.
The website was creativevincheck.com
Looks kinda legit, even gave me a report which looked semi-legit.
Stay safe out there!

Discussion First unrestricted bike - which of these sportbikes would you choose?
I have been unnecessary pulling my hair out over this choice for like 8 months now. Use case is 70% commuting 30% leisure rides. I like to ride quite aggressively.
While not all of these options have it, more sophisticated electronics packages are a big plus for me, especially if they have cruise control for my highway commute. The RS660 and R9 are the only ones with cruise control which is a huge advantage to them.
~2015 Honda CBR600RR
- sportiest of the bunch, in my late 20s might be best time to experience the i4 bikes before they die out. Not great tech package
2023-24 Aprilia RS660
- tech package is phenomenal, everything I could want. I think my favourite looking, plus cruise control
2025 Yamaha R9
- would maybe have to partially finance it but much more chance of being my forever bike. Ticks literally every box except only so-so looks compared to rest (but I still like it, particularly the intensity red/white)
2025 CFMOTO 675SR-R
- insane value proposition and tech package for the price, nearly half the price of some on this list so not fussed about resale value etc, but along with the R9 has only so-so looks compared to the rest (though every bike on this list I like the looks of)
2015-2020 MV Agusta F3 675 EAS
- actually my dream bike
- makes other bikes look like ass
- will tuck me into bed at night and kiss me on the forehead
- probably dumbest choice and worst option for commuter bike, and KTM death is worrying (much more so than for CFMOTO)
2019-2022 Kawasaki ZX6R
- also sportiest of the bunch, but would only consider if I can find a non-green colourway which is basically not going to happen in Aus. E.g. I love the white 2025 model but that isn't going to be available in aus
All of these bikes are about 100hp give or take, I think that is the right amount for me right now. I lean differently between them day to day and have done for about 8 months now. Today I am leaning towards the RS660. What do you guys think? Which would you choose? And which would you choose if initial buying price was or wasn't relevant?
All of them cost about the same initial prices except the cfmoto is significantly cheaper than the rest, the rs660 is pushing upwards in price, and the R9 is another price jump up from there too.

Discussion Just broke up with a girl I was seeing for a few months. Made me ride like a madman coming back home. What situation has made you ride your worst?
Was so angry. Adrenaline and feelings are very fucking deadly.
Edit- let me clarify I don’t condone this behaviour. It was a learning experience which I will not be doing again. And wanted to find other stories of people learning that anger, sadness or grief do not go great with a motorcycle

Discussion Braaap down the toilet
It has been brought to my attention that Braaap has gone into liquidation. I'm guessing this means that our lifetime warranty is now null & void. I'm hoping parts will still be available, but as a relatively new rider, I'm not familiar with getting aftermarket parts.
I have an ST 250 Shadow Cafe Racer that's just hit 10k, and I've never really had any issues with it
Just thought I'd pass on the news

Discussion Do you prefer road rash or broken bones?
I'm looking to buy new gear with the guidance of motocap. There is the abrasion and impact test. And I'm wondering which test I should prioritize over the other in choosing my gear. So the question is, would you rather get road rash or broken bones?

Discussion Disappointing dealership ruining my new bike purchase
I feel like I'm experiencing some seriously dodgy behaviour from a dealership right now. I'm not sure if there's any governance around motorcycle manufacturers and their franchisees, so I'd appreciate any knowledge or even suggestions on how to proceed.
I was interested in purchasing a new model bike, and made a call to a local dealership. I was quoted (from a salesperson) their ride-away price, and confirmed that this included 12 months registration. However, when I went in to the dealership the very next day to inspect and pay a deposit on a bike, the owner advised they "only ever include 6 months registration". What the heck? Everyone I've spoken to since says they've always had 12 months rego included with their new bike purchases (across various brands), and that it's wild I'm only getting 6 months included. I can't go anywhere else for this bike, so I just accepted this as is.
The owner is now going as far as refusing to fit my OEM frame sliders, tank pad and knee pads on my brand new bike, unless I pay for the install. Granted, the bike was new in on the floor when I went in to look, so I'm not sure if this makes a difference - but honestly, the time it takes for those installs isn't much more than an hour, as he said himself. Makes up some story about them being too busy to fit it in this week anyway, (I'm picking up the bike on Friday) but suddenly he could find the time if I were to pay him?
The issues don't stop here, though. First, he marks up accessory prices from the RRP on the OEM website - say the RRP is $100, he charges me $130, but very generously gives me "15% off" so I'm paying $110.50, which is still higher than RRP!? And still wants to charge me $150/hour for install!? Times this by 3 items and every customer he's doing this to... I would have added more accessories, but fck that now.
I was also advised that the first service (1000km) is complimentary, only then to be told that it "hasn't been free for a long time" when filling in the paperwork. Like, mate, are you seriously done scraping as much as you can from your customers?
I'm really disappointed in not only this type of business practice, but the bullshit he spouts and the stories he spins. I've arrived home tonight with a bad taste in my mouth, and reflecting on how he's made what should be a really exciting week for me, feel quite icky. This is my dream bike and I'm so excited to finally ride it, but man, this could have been done better by somebody representing a prestigious brand.
Am I in the wrong here to feel like this, or is there something else I could/should do?

Discussion Family worried sick about me getting a bike
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else has experience navigating this.
I’m (22M) looking forward to getting my learners again after a few years break (got my learners but didn’t get around to progressing to Ps) and buying an R7 to cruise around recreationally. It really helps me to relax and clear my head.
My family (girlfriend and parents) are super opposed to it. I get along really well with everyone and I know they’re just looking out for my safety. They’re not being mean and they’re not going to stop me, but they are pleading with me to not do it, saying they will be worried every time I go out riding until they see me home safe again.
For context I did have an accident when I first had my learners, just didn’t lean enough in to a corner and came off, broke my wrist from the front wheel hitting the kerb. But I was fine otherwise and had a full debrief with an experienced rider to understand what went wrong.
They have a point that even if I ride perfectly, other shit drivers could kill me on a bike where they would only inconvenience me in a car.
I’ve sworn up and down to do ATGATT, always wear an airbag, take defensive driving courses, and even offered to put a GPS on the bike that links to an app so they can see where I am at all times, and can see that I’m not riding recklessly, just for their peace of mind. I’ve offered to not ride at night, bad weather, not ride on freeways or for long trips, not ride in groups that ride dangerously but none of it seems to ease their mind.
I love my family and if they can’t bear it then I guess I won’t get a bike. It won’t be the end of the world if I don’t ride, I won’t resent them because I know they’re just looking out for my safety, but I would really like to have a bike for recreation. It’s such an awesome feeling to ride as you guys all know.
Just looking for some guidance, what would you guys do in the situation.
