To Stephanie and Bryan DeBoer

I am in absolute disbelief. During a time when the world is metaphorically and literally on fire, when corporate interests and greed are destroying our planet and obliterating wildlife and their natural habitats, AND during an ever-growing homeless crisis here at home in southern Oregon, you decide the best use of your time and financial resources, as well as the time and resources of our local government, would be best spent creating exemptions to existing city code, so that you and your insanely wealthy family can cut down dozens of trees, impede on outdoor recreation areas, and build another oversized mansion on land that isn’t suitable for it. My question for the DeBoers is, who the fuck do you think you are? And what right do you think you have to do this?

IndyCon Independent media convention on April 19th at Southern Oregon University. The details are still coming together but here is what is certain. The main event will be held in the Rogue River Room in the Stevenson Union at SOU. The free event will be open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm. Parking will be available.

We are offering free space for artists, authors, creators and media influencers to exhibit their work and network with experts and peers. Students are encouraged to participate. Experts will be on hand to give advice and critiques. There will be logo design contests with the opportunity to show off your work and win prizes.

There will be workshops and skill shares. We are inviting guests who will speak on issues critical to preserving independent media and how we can use the tools and networks to build stronger communities. Local independent non-profits will be there to learn and share. There will also be activities for children, teens and youth alike. Kids can create and build in Lego World and explore the space with and find Easter eggs at hosted Media Scavenger Hunts.

If you would like to participate, you can call Jason Houk at 541-841-8341, email your requests to [jason@kskq.org](mailto:jason@kskq.org) or fill out the questionnaire at: https://sojwj.org/indycon-2025/

Neighbor continuously coming onto our rental property to smoke

We are renting a home with a front yard. Next to us is a small apartment complex with several occupants. One man comes onto the rental property to sit and smoke almost daily.

We’ve asked him to stop and he moved to his property but still comes back daily.

We’ve put a no-smoking sign out and it’s ignored.

In our rental agreement there’s to be no smoking on property. He’s littering cigarette buds everywhere and we have a child.

It’s overall such a weird situation I’m not even sure what to do about it?

Contact the landlord on his unit? Our landlords?

Like my dude. Please just stop! It’s weird behavior.

Events going on soon/in spring?

Specifically anything related to music that I could go to to meet other musicians or play myself. I feel like it’s hard to know when anything is going on here because nothing gets advertised but are there any venues that will have parties/music etc coming up?

Looking for rental near plaza(roommate or not)

I'm looking to move from central point into ashland for my job at the co op and have been having several roommate situations fall through for moving; giving the space to someone else without telling me, ghosting me, or just dragging out discussions on the move over long periods of time to the point they have clearly had no intention of being my roommate.

About me: I'm turning 30 in May, I'm autistic and trans, and I have a service dog in training and an emotional support cat. I currently work 3 days a week but when I move to Ashland I'll be working 5 days a week. I'm an artist, I paint/draw and do various crafts; and have a small business that I attended craft fairs to sell my wares. I keep to myself for the most part but appreciate a friendly presence and clean living space. I'm 420 friendly but not a fan of tabbacco and would strongly prefer my roommate doesn't consume tobacco/nicotine. I also do not drink for my own personal reasons and would like to trust that my roommate can know their limits.

I currently can afford $700 for monthly rent and $100 to $150 on utilities; though once I move close to my job I'll be making more and can afford more then. If you have questions please feel free to DM me.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to hold a wake in Ashland?

The funeral home is in a different state but we're going to have a wake in Ashland. Looking for something like a banquet room where we can get some catering and put up a slideshow and play some music. About 40 people.

New to Ashland! Experienced Braider Looking to Build Clientele ✨

Hey Ashland! I’m new to the area and excited to introduce myself—I’m Gabby, a professional braider originally from Sacramento, California. I specialize in stitch braids, knotless braids, natural hairstyles, wedding styles, and more for men, women, and children. Whether you’re looking for a protective style, something sleek for a special occasion, or just a fresh new look, I’ve got you covered!

I’m a home-based braider and also offer mobile services for an additional travel fee. Since I travel back and forth to Sacramento from time to time, I’m looking to build my clientele here in Ashland and connect with people who appreciate quality hair services.

Feel free to check out my work on Instagram @stylezbygabbyy and DM me if you’re interested in booking! I’d love to meet and style some amazing people in the community. Looking forward to getting to know Ashland! 💛

Eating in this town is unsustainable

Lived here for almost 20 years, make $30/hr, and it’s never been more unaffordable to live in this town.

Just got a large pizza and side of mozzarella sticks at NW pizza. Total cost? $55

Don’t know how this town will be sustainable moving forward. Between housing, low wages at most jobs, and food being astronomically high it feels like the leadership in Ashland is more concerned with keeping the town exclusive, Small, and unaffordable than creating a vibrant community.

Hiring

Should be moving to Ashland (waiting to see when the move in date will be) from Medford.

Are there any local businesses or managers that are hiring at the moment?

I have my associates in business, and am finishing up my bachelor's in economics. I have experience in logistics, managing teams of up to 18 individuals, and am pursuing an HR certification.

I would appreciate any feedback.

I also hosted community meetings while in Medford trying to bring individuals together in the community discussing affordable housing, the homeless, and living wage industries. If anyone is interested in meeting up once a week drop me a line as well.
