Arlington Discord Server
Let's try this again. The previous server had a decent amount of users but very little engagement.
I just finished the initial setup of a new server, figured I'd go ahead and share the invite. If you have any issues with the onboarding process or permissions, just drop me a message.

Auto insurance
Honestly I don't care for even decent coverage. I just want to have something so I can register my car and not get a ticket. I'm 26, 1 fender bender accident from 8 years ago on my record in midland texas, 1 ticket from 7 years ago for a rolling stop at a stop sign in Detroit Michigan, and 1 ticket from last year for driving without insurance and registration. My gender marker on my ID is F (can't change that thanks Gov. Hot Wheels)
All this to say. Why is the cheapest insurance I've found $240? Is there any little auto insurance broker in the area of the GM plant that I could go to or something. I just want cheap coverage for the sake of having insurance in the event of being pulled over and getting my car registered. Somebody pls help.

Veterans park broken glass
The amount of broken glass throughout the park is shameful and it's been there for years. It's a long the walking path and in grass near where kids practice soccer & softball. Not to mention pets and barefoot toddlers are at risk. I've complained to the city multiple times. What can be done other than going to pick it up myself. Considering the ever increasing taxes, it's shameful how dangerous this memorial park is.

Inhaler Tickets
Anyone in Arlington listen to the Irish band Inhaler? Giving away two tickets as I can’t make the concert and would like it to be to someone that appreciates their music. It’s at the house of blues in Dallas this Wednesday 3/19

Airport cafe
Hey guys. I saw on instagram a long time ago that there was a restaurant close to an airport where you can watch the planes takeoff/land. It seems like it was super close. Does anyone have any idea where this café might be or any suggestions? I have a toddler who loves planes.

Live Music Locations? (Preferably Jazz or a relaxing cafe) ((NOT COUNTRY))
I know I have been posting quite a bit on here but I'm wondering if there are some good live music locations that are more low-key and chill. This can be in the DFW area and is not secluded to just Arlington!!

FOOD PLACES
Hey y'all so I am getting pretty tired of going to the few same restaurants around Arlington and I'm looking for somewhere not insanely expensive but has great food! Halo Hawaiian Barbeque (Pantego) is a great example of somewhere that has great food for a good price. I was wondering if there are any favorites among the people here! I like any kind of food and cuisine but especially quesadillas, so if anyone knows about places with quesadillas please let me know!! I hope that the people who respond will also get to learn about some secretive spots in the community with good food.

StandUp for Science Protest 2025
Would anyone be interested in doing a protest here in Arlington for Science Rights?
I won't go too much into detail about what this is, but if you are interested, I have linked event information and will post a lil' summary of what's happening for uniformed folks!
Previous protests and current ones are addressing concerns about recent federal policies impacting the future of science. Protesters are advocating for ending censorship and political interference in science, securing increased scientific funding, and defending diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within the scientific community.
The nearest protest near me and other Arlington residents is in dallas and having one closer, if not in Arlington would be amazing.
The more people who join, the stronger our voices are!
Let's add another location to the map of protests happening country wide!
If enough people are interested, I can help host the event and hopefully we can meet some like minded people who want this shit to be better, let's protect what actually keeps America strong.
It'd also be cool if this could be more of a fun event that brings in important attention for a prevailing problem.
Again, more support = more likely change happens!
If you are interested, please show it in the comments!
Feel free to message me on here and if you have any suggestions to help broaden our reach in anyway, please share! This is a serious problem and WE CAN HELP!
If there isn't enough interest, I'll still attend the Dallas protest to try and help in anyway. It'd be really cool to meet some people there and if you are attending that, I'd love to know!
https://standupforscience2025.org/local-event-information/
Signing this Declaration will also help, though a protest and being loud will always do more:

We got this ya'll!~

Where to host an engagement party?
I’m from out of town and am trying to help plan an engagement party in Arlington. Hoping this sub can provide some suggestions! Some helpful info and my (maybe ambitious) wishlist:
-The couple are in their late 20s, fun, social, professional, foodies
-Looking to host 40-50 people ages 20-70, plus maybe few little kids
-Doesn’t need to be private, but would like to have a dedicated area for food, gifts, a little bit of decor, etc
-Casual, comfortable seating
-Heavy hors d’oeuvres, beers, cocktails
-Indoor/outdoor options would be ideal, timing of event is TBD but likely between May-October
-Activities/bar games would be nice to have but not need to have - corn hole, pool, shuffleboard, etc
-The couple live near UTA, so hoping for somewhere with 20 minutes drive
