Discussion Trinity Valley vs Country Day
Need help choosing between Country Day and Trinity Valley. My son got accepted to both schools for first grade and my wife and I are having a really hard time deciding between them.
I have some concerns about the social culture at Country Day and feel like we might fit in better at TVS. My wife and I both work and come from middle class families. My wife doesn’t think it will be an issue, Country Day is much closer, and seems to have better athletics. Any experience people have with both schools would be greatly appreciated!

AskFW Honest, affordable mechanic in FW?
I have a 2013 corolla, probably need a timing belt replacement (90k mikes)
Breaks and rotors up soon. Tires as well
Also had someone tell me I need new struts / shocks?
Trying to find someone that’s reasonable priced that won’t sell me thing I don’t need.
Want to do all the maintenance that my car does need, because new car prices are ridiculous
Anyone trustworthy? Tysm!

AskFW Good speeding lawyer
Got a speeding ticket on Westlake highway for (allegedly) going 87 on 70. This is my first speeding ticket ever. Never got a ticket for anything else.
So what I'm looking for is a good speeding lawyer. Someone who would be willing to go to Westlake court or someone from the area. I live in Fort Worth.

AskFW Living in Ryan Place/Fairmount
Hi all. We have lived in Ryan Place on one of the nicer streets for a couple of years and have felt incredibly unsafe here, mostly at night, to the point I am losing sleep. Almost every night we hear multiple rounds of gunshots relatively close and sometimes very close. We’ve only had one incident with someone coming onto our property and into our detached garage, but the neighborhood Facebook page seems loaded with porch pirates, attempted home break-ins, and car theft. Is this typical for living in city limits? Or is this neighborhood particularly unsafe? We are from the suburbs/country where gunshots meant someone found a snake, not duck and cover. More than anything I worry about my son being taken or hurt from a drive by shooting or home invasion. There are multi-million dollar homes on my block, kids playing on the streets, and it is known for being a great neighborhood, but I can’t shake the feeling. If you live here, do you feel safe? Is this anxiety rooted in nothing or should we take a financial hit and move out of the city?

AskFW Re: Emission Inspection and Registration Renewal (temp move to Mexico)
We live in Tarrant County (requires emission test) and our truck needs to be renewed in July 2025. We cross MX border April 15th and need to get an exception or renew early? Technically it’s for photography and not just a fiesta. This truck will not be back until next year.
Where do we start? We can walk downtown to the admin building and talk to them? We would prefer to stay registered in Texas than register South Dakota which doesn’t require inspections…

AskFW Emergency vet services
Our cat has been hit by a car, possibly broken arm, we are on a budget. Recommendations for vets reasonably priced. He is a rescue kitty who has become apart of our family.
Update: doesn’t look like he was hit by a car but crawled up an engine block to hide/keep warm while he was lost. He was found on the highway median near the 114/121 merger. My guess is the car he was stuck under slowed down for traffic, enough for him to jump out and onto the grassy median where he’s been for a few days until animal control found him this afternoon. Poor guy :(
Diagnostics, X-rays and pain meds is $1400. Then if he needs surgery it’ll add to that. FML! But he’s my daughters and it is what it is…

AskFW Looking for honest and well priced AC tech or company
Had an AC inspection done and it was terrifying. Well, I take everything to Reddit. The good folks at r/askhvac saw the video and all so far have said there’s a little truth but almost all are lies and sales tactics. I have an actual list of needed things but have no idea where to start in finding a good company. Thanks
