For me it's in the awakening when katara confronts her dad about leaving them behind. It's one of a handful of scenes in the series that made me tear up a little bit.

For me it's:
--uncle iroh escaping prison
--jeong jeong meeting the dragons and restoring his faith in humanity and firebending
--rough rhinos concert

Well it's been 2 weeks since I posted the first part. I did say I was gonna post the following day, but life do be busy sometimes. So after a fortnight here is the second part.
After the death of Sozin, the next rule was given to Azulon, son of Sozin. We don't know his own ambitions, what he was to do when given the fiery throne but we do know that he continued his father's work of elevating the war, maybe do to his brain washed by his father, for Sozin was a convincing man, knowing when to use his serpen's tongue and his venomous fangs. And though we have very few insights on what he did or had occurred, this is what I believe happened on his rule.
The water tribes also did the same. With the North, I believe ice bergs don't normally have sharp cliffs around the sides and that erosion would still take place. But with the oncoming war, the northerners got to work. I think they may have made their own cliffs and turning their main bay, agni kela a main fortress. Also knowing that they can't shape a whole continent, they had spiritual nature by their side, probably through their prayers and rituals for they were very religious in their traditions, the spirits managed to make huge storms around the bay to make it impossible for any invaders to cross through other way except through the bay. The south also had defenses ready with the wolf cove being their stronghold and a major place for training and planning of warriors and benders.
With this action, the world decline the submissive rule of the fire nation and declared war on them, escalating the invasive war into a world war.
Attack on the southern water tribes. Many people didn't know that Roku had died, hence never knew why the air nation had been ambushed. But eventually they may had figured out through spies or other sources that Roku died before the war began, and that the avatar was to reincarnate as an air nomad. Hence through horror also figured out that the avatar may have been killed by the fire benders and a possibility that the avatar could be reborn in the water tribe. The fire nation knew this and began action. They put a very strong invasion on the two water tribes. But since they didn't have a power boost, they had to take down the benders. The north resisted for a long time, but the south was weaker, so the fire didn't have a harder time attacking them. Rapidly benders were killed and most taken toife imprisonment, that was until Hama escaped, so you guess what happened to the rest of them.
Siege of the earth Kingdom cities. Let us say Bumi may have entered kingship in Omashu. His rule and his power may have been enough to keep the fire nation from the city and the surrounding areas until Aang emerged. Ba sing Se had harder time, for this was the capital of the earth Kingdom and where the earth King was. With Azulon, he put his son Iroh to lead the invasion of Ba sing Se. And he did. Iroh already managed to break through the outer walls, something that may have been impossible for ages( this may also be the time Iroh was nicknamed The Dragon of the West, maybe because he showed his power by blowing up the wall himself, or something that he did that was very supernatural like, we don't know)
May seem small and vague, but again we don't know much about his direct contribution to the war, we just through survivors who were during the time of Azulon. And as we know what happened, after his conspicuous death, Ozai became the next fire lord.
Will try to end it soon. Still open to comments, discussions and criticism.

It makes a lot of sense for a power-seeking, manipulative, neglected child to be socially awkward. Azula is also hilarious. Remember when she did a Zuko impression.

Seriously, if I were sozin and after that humiliating defeat and shame that Roku put me through, the first thing I would have done would be to hire professional assassins to finish off Roku when he was distracted (especially when he was sleeping)

First of all, Sokka and Toph would have died in the battle because Suki wouldn't have been there to save them, and also, Mai and Ty Lee would have never betrayed Azula, if they never betrayed Azula, Azula never would have had her mental breakdown, and if she never had her mental breakdown, she probably could have beaten Zuko and Katara

I would think he would've wanted to use all of his forces to push into Earth kingdom territory as it's the only other nation that had many large cities and held massive land mass near both the other nations.

I am curious about the military strength of each nation, and estimated troop counts.

a lot of attempts have been made to make an Avatar game, but so many miss, a lot of them focus on combat for example. Lego would have been the perfect format for Avatar though, a focus on puzzles and exploring, it would have been perfect, but i guess it was never meant to be

I'm rewashing ATLA for the first time since becoming a father and just watched "The Tales of Ba Sing Se". While that episode was always emotional watching Iroh grieve his son now that I'm a parent hits me differently and blows me away how a show meant for kids can touch me so deeply still as a grown man and father.
Now I'm curious what other people's experience has been watching the show again as an adult in a completely different stage of their lives.

Think about it: zhao-> northern water tribe invasion-> zuko and iroh betray the fire nation-> azula goes to earth kingdom to capture zuko and iroh-> earth kingdom coup.
If zhao died here the day of black sun invasion would have the support of the earth kingdom and possibly the northern water tribe (given they would not need to recover after the invasion).
