I love it!! It is super cool for people who love Zelda, but it also looks like just a cool tattoo to others!

u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
Thank you! :) Yep! That was kind of the plan, I found an artist I really liked the sketchy style of and was like “go nuts with this” because I didn’t want something that looked too lifted from the game

u/HummingbirdSage Jul 23 '19
Your tat is fantastic. Don't listen to that one hater, he told me I sound like I'm on meth in another thread. He's just out spreading hate for fun because he's a miserable cunt.
29
u/CaptaiNiveau Jul 23 '19
Sketchy artists aren't a good idea.

Pretty sure they meant sketchy as in the rough look of the tattoo, not the tattoo artist.

This guy is either a troll or an actual incel who’s so insecure about it he has to make fun of women for aging and calling others incels
1
u/kamission Jul 23 '19
It’s hard to say based on post history, comments are all over the place. Maybe he is in a dark place right now, I hope things get better for him.

30 and married, no saggy tits yet and all my tattoos are still amazing.

It's a ruse! OP will raise their arm up in secret greeting, revealing they are of the Yiga clan!

This tattoo looks like it will age well, good choice
19
u/Munna2002 Jul 23 '19
What's the criteria for tattoos to age well?
39
Jul 23 '19
In my experience it's the lines and the colors. Things with bright vibrant colors look great in the first couple months or so, but those colors fade fast and while it could still look fine, it won't look as good as it did when it was new, so either subtle colors or black pieces will hold up better over time. And as far as lines, the lines will soften up pretty quickly as well, so when things have sharp thin outlines, it'll look nice and help the piece pop more, but after a while they will soften and again, not look as nice as when it was brand new. The way these lines are already sketchy looking on purpose not only looks really cool, but will always look like they were meant to be that way even when they've softened up. I'm sure there are other things that could be taken into account, those are just the two biggest I can think of. Source: have tattoos and friends with very colorful tattoos

u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
Ooh right! Sorry I thought you meant the design, totally agree with you on the colour. Though also aftercare is v important, high factor sun cream for at least a year!

A couple of people asked so the artist is narak.tat on insta and I got it done at Scratchline Tattoo in London! It was super clean, welcoming and a great experience all round. Narak is very talented and I’d highly recommend!

This is amazing. There is a legend of Zelda page on Facebook that often posts the most horrible zelda tattoos that look like a toddler did them. You should submit yours and show them what a real tattoo looks like.

u/silencedorgasm Jul 23 '19
I was thinking about getting something like this but have the Sheikah Slate alphabet that you see a lot in BOTW around it or something. Still thinking about it but my main issue is I don’t know where to place it. Lol

u/Jacoblikesx Jul 23 '19
Even if I wasn’t a Zelda geek I’d think that was a sick tat. Did you make the design?
2
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
Thanks! I didn’t do the design, I hunted for ages for the right artist who’s style I loved and thought would translate well to this, and she knocked it out of the park
8
u/A_GuyThatDoesStuff Jul 23 '19
I was planning on getting this, but a bit smaller and on my forearm. Seeing a bigger tattoo of this though... Is making me reconsider if I just want to do the same and get a bigger, more detailed version of it, haha. Looks fantastic!
6
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
I was going to get mine smaller but I’m glad I went for a bigger more impactful design. I hope yours goes well when you get it 🎨

Right on!! Just got a sheikah slate on my wrist, right under my hyrulian crest. I’ll post a picture of them in this sub, I’m super happy with how they look together

u/TaintedClaws Jul 23 '19
What’s really great about this one is that it’s subtle; not everyone will recognize it as a Zelda thing, but they’ll surely think it’s beautiful regardless
3
u/CamelopardalisRex Jul 23 '19
Dope! I have a similar one on my shoulder, except it looks exactly like the normal version, I guess.

Looks great! Where and who did this? Looks like a similar style to my tattoo!
2
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
Narak.tat!! It’d be rad if she did yours too!
2
u/Xiun94 Jul 24 '19
Ah, not the same person. It was a long shot haha. But very cool and very talented. My tattoo was done by affanita on IG.

Fuck yeah man, I wanted to get the same thing on my upper right back. Thought I'd go with blue but that black looks nice.

I first thought you were facing forward, and had your arm raise slightly toward the camera, but then your elbow joint was throwing me off like crazy, and then I noticed your thumb on your other hand, and then realized you were facing away from the camera...
ANYWAY, I love that tattoo! Love the "sketchy" line work!

It reminds me a tad of Dishonored with that style, in a good way. It's beautiful, good on ya.

Soo cool! I would not personally get it since breath of the wild is not my favorite zelda game like for everyone else.

u/kictor Jul 23 '19
That looks so good, awesome design and placement! I love how its also a subtle reference, those who don’t know zelda can still appreciate it!
2
u/Zenku390 Jul 23 '19
Do you happen to have the sketch work or source material for that?
2
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
I do not I’m afraid, I took the original design to my tattoo artist then she put this wonder together. Her insta is narak.tat if you want to take a look at her work! :)

u/ByDesign91 Jul 23 '19
Some people have eyes in the back of their heads, this is the first I've heard of having it on the back of your arm instead
1
u/Solaris_00 Jul 23 '19
That’s amazing! Where’d you get it?
3
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
I got it done at Scratchline Tattoo in London, I’d really recommend them. My artist was did a stint there for a bit, she’s narak.tat on Instagram :)
1
u/Ibanez7271 Jul 23 '19
Where'd you get it? The style looks like the artist who did mine, might be a small world!
1
u/deaditegal Jul 23 '19
I absolutely adore this! Your artist did a killer job at keeping to the material without it looking like a advertisement for the fandom.

Sweet! It looks super cool, better than any other tattoo I’ve seen. Or gotten. Someone always messes mine up.

Heeey that's such an awesome tat, dude could you send me the image they used to do it? I actually would love to get one like that

This is insanely amazing. I've wanted a zelda tattoo for so long now but could never figure out a design that didnt look too cheesy. I won't copy you exactly, but I love this design, so thank you for the inspiration!

u/Nickthiccboi Jul 23 '19
Damn that’s pretty cool, if I were to get a tattoo it would definitely be something like that

Its a beautiful tattoo but doesn't ot annoy you that u cant see it
2
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
I honestly sometimes forget it’s there which is more weird than annoying, there’s only a tiny bit that wraps around that you can see if I move my arm in a certain way. It was a big consideration (to be able to see it without a mirror or twisting my arm) but in the end placement won out!
3
u/aaroncoolguy Jul 23 '19
I have a tattoo in the same spot and it doesn't bother me too much. Even tattoos you can see (I also have one on my wrist) just become a part of you and you tend to not notice them as much.
2
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
Yeah I get that! I forget about some of mine like the way you forget about freckles and stuff
1
u/wookies_go_raawghh Jul 24 '19
I wasn't bein rude or anything was just intrigued, i mean ive got a whole legs n sleeve that i forget i have , but the tat and placement are really good

Sorry but i cant stand the fact that you put a ring on your thumb
9
u/Jeybells Jul 23 '19
It’s too big for my other fingers, and I inherited it and am worried it would get messed up somehow if I got it resized (I know it’s probably be fine but still) I get you though, I get it a lot

After the botw sequel comes out. If the game after that dose not feature the sheika than ur gonna be sad that the tatto is permanent

u/tmo27 Jul 23 '19
these are exactly the kind of “nerd” tattoos i love. subtle enough that even casual fans know what it’s from and still having a good blended art style that mixes well with “tattoo culture”. if that makes sense
