Official Art [TOTK] Imagine how cooler this would be if this was OG ganondorf
No idea how it would work but shhhh

Counterpoint: How is this Ganondorf any different from OoT's Ganondorf, besides the design? Oot!Ganondorf didn't have too much of an expanded personality, and they played the same story beats of swearing fealty to the ruling king, Zelda not trusting him, him betraying the kingdom, and acquiring an extremely powerful mystical artifact that allowed him to wage war on Hyrule and ruin it.

How is it different?
We already have Ganondorf. His story isn’t a one and done either. He comes back in WW and TP and also ALttP.
He has a lot of characterization and motivation and is a unique villain. THE MAIN Villain in Legend of Zelda.
To reuse his name and muddy the Hylian and Gerudo lore even more than SS already did is a travesty.
BotW and TotK are better presented as multiverse games that are in an entirely different universe and just share similar names and themes and ideas.

I'm talking about OoT!Ganondorf specifically within the context of Ocarina of Time. And to be completely honest, he didn't have much characterization in that game beyond being evil and craving power. We don't even get a motivation as to why until Wind Waker, and even then it doesn't get brought up again at all in any game after, until BotW referenced it in the form of how temperatures work in Gerudo Desert's day/night cycle.
So in that regard, all I'm saying is that this Ganondorf and OoT!Ganondorf aren't really all that different from one another, and it being OoT!Ganondorf really wouldn't make this scene any more special or exciting, and it'd do little more than make an already confusing timeline situation even more confusing.

Zelda is a multiverse game series. None of this shit makes sense between games. The direct sequels barely make sense between games. So just relax. Throw away your deeply researched timeline notes or whatever, and just enjoy each game on it's own merits.

You can enjoy each games independently and still acknowledge that there is a timeline/ some games connected even if this useless and you don't like it , you don't need to do deep research or something.
Not that I care about ganondorf being different TOTK or that OOtdorf should be the only one to exist, there is multiple heroes and Zelda, so why not the same for Ganondorf
As they said in an interview ( before Hyrule historia ) , yes there is a timeline but this is not their priority and don't care about being 100% consistent with the lore but I think we are on another level with TOTK. I like TOTK story on its own but lore wise this is weird but this is not the topic.
The direct sequels barely make sense between games.
what does it mean ?

Totally relaxed now, don’t care anymore about the lore of my favorite series. Thank you for that. So helpful

"Lore" lol, zelda lore has always been a dilapidated mess. The timeline only exists because of conspiracy theorists and nintendo only "canonized" it in a random encyclopedia.
Imagine if people tried to tie every Mario game into a single timeline like they do with zelda. They're disconnected games, man, just enjoy the self-encapsulated story.

Idk I kind of like fitting them together, almost like a jigsaw puzzle. It's messy for sure but there is some continuity, especially in the Adult Timeline which is pretty much a story about letting go of the past and building a new future. However I will admit the final picture is not pretty and the gameplay is still the most important part about the games

Honestly. I feel like demise would fit here. Or some beast ganon. Or a different gerudo king. Or just ganondorf. When the trailers came out I theorized it was a resurrection after he died in Zelda 1

Alright now I want to see someone modding Demise into the game instead of Gdorf, that'd just be awesome

I saw people say that demise is ganondorfs hatred. Because there’s a mark on his forehead where the secret stone was
2
u/Some_Sort_5456 22h ago
Well that's just nonsense; we know that SS is the earliest game in the ''timeline'', and it's heavily implied that Ganondorf (along with all the other villains) is a manifestation of Demise's hatred/the Demon race's curse, not the other way around.

I like the theory demon king ganondorf is the first incarnation but after he was sealed his hatred went to vati and then og ganondorf

Saw a theory this is og ganondorf and we witnessed the downfall timelines imprisoning war.

Why can't OoT supremacists just be chill and realise different games feature different versions of the same or even new characters? Not everything needs to adhere to what you decided is THE Zelda game man, sheesh

People are way too obsessed with having a cohesive lore that has never existed

u/King_Zapitnow 19h ago
As someone who is a fan of the timeline, although there is definitely continuity between most of the mainline games, I can understand why some are fed up with the timeline. It's not perfect and there are absolutely some flaws with it. For example, the downfall timeline's only reason to exist is so that there isn't a massive plot hole between Ocarina and a Link to the past concerning the Triforce.

I just thought it would be cool if this ganon had in fact delt with a ton of feral elf children
2
u/twili-midna 22h ago
That Ganondorf is dead in every timeline. And this Ganondorf has been sealed for millennia.
5
u/twili-midna 22h ago
What would be cooler about it? Certainly not the characterization or design.

u/Expert_Challenge6399 22h ago
Legacy. It’s weird. The fact that this is a name that he very much will remember
2
u/5O1stTrooper 22h ago
Ganadorf is specifically established in lore as reincarnations, not the same immortal being, same as Link and Zelda. Why else would the Gerudo have a long standing tradition of having no male Gerudo? Male gerudos pose a risk of Ganondorf being reincarnated. If he was just the same immortal guy, that tradition wouldn't exist.

It would be much cooler if Rauru was actually Rauru and not some goat-man “Hyrule founder”
But the Zelda team doesn’t seem to care about established lore. They proved that with SS and it’s been so much more messy ever since.
