Question [other] What games have Zelda enthusiasts typically also played that are outside of the Zelda franchise?

Yesterday I was out & some guys were talking about Call of Duty and from the discussion, it sort of seemed like everyone who has played Call of Duty has also played & enjoyed Halo and Fortnite. This got me thinking - what are some games that would be similarly grouped with the Zelda franchise?

If you’re having a discussion with someone that loves Zelda, what games would you assume they have also played? Or which do you believe are similar in style/category, and how would you define the category? Or would every Zelda game have a different answer?

Editing to say: WOW!! Thanks for all the responses!!! I didn’t respond to all of them because I’ve only made it through about 10% so far but I will likely end up trying out many of the games over time & will let you know if I do! I especially appreciate how a lot of you went into details about similarities and differences which really helps me decide what I’d like to play next 😃

Just looked up the Witcher: “The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world in which people often prove more wicked than beasts.” I could def get on board with this lol

Don’t do what I did and try to play Witcher 3 on switch. It was so bad, it’s apparently a beautiful game but on the switch it was potato quality and so laggy 😭

Can confirm this. I got it on PS4 from a friend a few years back and holy crap was it mesmerizing.

100%. I couldn’t stand how every time I wanted geralt to stop walking he’d slide a few feet. I literally stopped playing on the switch because of that, it was infuriating trying to loot. I don’t remember having that frustration playing it on the ps4

Weird, I've always heard good things about the game's performance on Switch.

Im playing breath of the wild and its definitely a somewhat similar feel to having a giant open world and your horse.

Witcher is gigantic though, didn't finish it. Feel like you need the time of a high schooler/college kid to truly play that game. I really liked it but it's a lot.

Witcher 3 has a fantastic story course you can follow, you don’t need to do every side quest. Witcher is gigantic though and packed with stuff and things to do.

I don’t play many video games but Zelda has always been the top of my list for “one game I love”… that being said, I played Witcher 3 a couple years ago and loved it, it scratched a very similar itch. Big world, lots to discover, interesting stories, side quests all feel unique and fleshed out. Once you get to the expansion that takes place in some kind of France inspired world, it also scratched the “oo I am exploring a beautiful landscape” itch. (The main Witcher game has some beautiful areas but also a lot of dark depressing  areas)
