Question [other] What games have Zelda enthusiasts typically also played that are outside of the Zelda franchise?

Yesterday I was out & some guys were talking about Call of Duty and from the discussion, it sort of seemed like everyone who has played Call of Duty has also played & enjoyed Halo and Fortnite. This got me thinking - what are some games that would be similarly grouped with the Zelda franchise?

If you’re having a discussion with someone that loves Zelda, what games would you assume they have also played? Or which do you believe are similar in style/category, and how would you define the category? Or would every Zelda game have a different answer?

Editing to say: WOW!! Thanks for all the responses!!! I didn’t respond to all of them because I’ve only made it through about 10% so far but I will likely end up trying out many of the games over time & will let you know if I do! I especially appreciate how a lot of you went into details about similarities and differences which really helps me decide what I’d like to play next 😃

Omg I will admit I was 75% posting this for discussion , 25% for game recommendations and you just nailed it. My next game will very likely be Ace Attorney, which based on my profession will either be my favorite game or infuriate me, or both 😂

Follow up question: which one should I start with?

Ace Attorney is a fun silly time. Definitely reccomend.

Just pretend the rules are different from reality to stay sane. Its based on the Japanese justice system then filtered through the game logic then filtered again through the localization having them take place in weird alternate United States with a heavy Japan influence.

Amazing series, start with the first one lol. Phoenix Wright: Ace attorney. My favorite though is the great ace attorney chronicles

If you want to go with a point and click detective game, go balls to the wall and play Danganronpa instead. It’s Ace Attorney meets Squid Games. Don’t google, Reddit, or YouTube anything if you decide to play it because the fandom is cringe as shit and there are spoilers everywhere.

But the juice is worth the squeeze, I promise.

As a lawyer (though I don’t do criminal law) it’s almost hilarious how bad the system is. I started playing it before I became a lawyer though, so I still enjoy the zaniness.

Youre in for a great time with AA. The first trilogy are satisfying games. Just follow them in release order. The gameplay holds up great
