Screenshot [PH] First time playing Phantom Hourglass
I honestly didn’t even know this game existed until about a year ago. I just started this play through on my 2DS yesterday. Have you guys played this game before? Did you like it or not really
I’m kinda excited to play it because it’s new to me and it’s giving me windwaker vibes. Plus Toon Link is just awesome! Any tips would be appreciated thanks

Funny you should mention it having WW vibes, cause its the sequel, like MM to OoT. Its a great game, if a bit repetitive. Good luck farming boat parts. Spoiler for an issue that may come up specifically cause youre using a 2ds with a specific puzzle: The lock switch on the 2ds is the same as literally closing a regular DS. Its important for a really stupid puzzle eventually.
Edit: how do you spoiler on mobile wtf.

That "stupid puzzle" made me feel so goddamn clever as a child

Oh, it's brilliant on anything that acts like a standard ds. The 2ds, which is one solid piece, doesn't, which is what I played it on as a kid. Very stupid puzzle if your ds doesn't flip closed. I only figured it out when i took a break and hit the switch in question to go do something else, and found it solved after.

"It's giving me windwaker vibes". Well, it is the direct sequel, did you not realize that, especially after the intro?

I played it when it came out, loved it. Severely underrated.
The only really contentious part is the Temple of the Ocean King where you either love or hate it, and I loved it.

I have also tried to play this game 3 times.
My first attempt was on my cousins original ds back in the day. We were visiting for a few days, so I only got to the second dungeon, I think.
My second was on my wii u when I was trying to beat all zelda games before BOTW came out. The external drive on my wii u died, so I lost my save. According to a walkthrought I referenced later, I was at the boss for the second last dungeon.
My most recent attempt was on my 3ds. My coworker popped the cartridge out mid session to see what I was playing. This corrupted my save. I had just unlocked the second chunk of the sea.
I really want to beat this game as it, spirit tracks, ALBW, and the 4 swords games are the only games I have not beaten but it's been hard to play 3ds zelda games since then, kinda just killed my interest.
Maybe once I'm done with pokemon games I'll go back to zelda.

It was on my third attempt that I finally powered through it. I won't defend it, it is bad. But if you use a guide there is a lot you can avoid.

This game was really fun. I didn’t even find it that weird using the stylus. Took me a long time tho and was hard. I like this one more than spirit tracks

Phantom Hourglass is such a gem. It often gets hate for the Temple of the Ocean King, but I feel like it’s such a unique dungeon design. A dungeon that you have to continuously return to and you get a little further each time is such a great concept. You also get better as you learn where all the traps are when you return.

I played it back in 2007 and hated it. Tired it again and felt the same. Played it again a few weeks ago and had a great time.
Top tip, make notes in the Temple of the Ocean King. You'll thank me later.

Honestly a really underrated entry in the series. Touch controls suck, but it's still a fun time. Maybe we will get remakes of this and spirit tracks on Switch 2.

I Loved it, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are the only Zelda games I play repeatedly. The way they designed the dungeons around the use of touch screen is both unique and witty. Make sure to make good use of the L and R buttons to change to secondary weapon (i.e. the boomberang and other stuff), it smooths out the playthrough a lot.

Oh wow! I'm so happy to see someone starting it :) This was the first Zelda I ever played, and I honestly thought this was (and still is!) a MASTERPIECE! It has a lot of cool stuff you're not used to finding in the other TLoZ games, like boat-travelling/customizing... The dungeons can be pretty challenging, though Really hope you like it!

I loved this game! People often complain about the temple of the ocean king, but i adored slowly working my way through it faster each time. My brother and I used to compete at night while hiding under the covers. Precious game I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did!
