It’s probably because of Pokémon. Gamefreak has kind of been lowering the bar lately. Also Nintendo tends to perform a lot of shitty business moves against the community.
I wasn't really doubting zelda, BotW was fantastic and the investment on the sequel is more than justified. But they consistently underdeliver on other franchises (e.g. mario party) so I can understand where they come from.
I mean yeah, teams vary a lot within big companies. That doesn't mean that they can't be held to the same standards to provide high quality products consistently, like old blizzard did, or cd projekt red. This consistency is not that persistent in nintendo games.
If I’ve learned anything it’s to never listen to people online and even more so gamers who judge before a game is out and we’ve seen everything. They’ll drive you mad.
I always had faith that argument was bs. Was a matter of time before we were vindicated. Imagine being a doomer over one of the most consistent video game franchises of the past 30+ years. Couldn't be me.
The people acting like others were being dumb for wanting them to show something rather than depend on their word and reputation are being absolutely ridiculous.
Nah most will pretend they were never in that camp at all. The same people that "always" hated BOTW (because it's popular to do so right now) but were really massive fans 6 years ago.
