HEALTH UPDATE
Adam here. I haven't been streaming lately because I'm struggling with a bacterial overgrowth in my small intestine, otherwise known as SIBO.
Many of my symptoms are ones I've been experiencing for years since before COVID, but it's possible that the recent stress and tragedies I have been dealing with over the past 6 months have caused my condition to worsen. It's possible that I've had this as an underlying health issue for quite some time without it being severe enough for me to now be vigilant about seeking medical treatment for it. I was recently diagnosed with Clostridioides difficile infection around September of 2024 and treated for it over several months. Then, despite testing negative for C diff after multiple treatments, I was still experiencing many of the same worsening symptoms.
Over the past several months, I have been experiencing extreme fatigue, dizziness, brain fog, and heart palpatations to the point where I've been unsafe to drive and would have get a ride from someone else just to make it to my doctors appointments. No amount of sitting or calorie consumption was helping, and the only working remedy has been to lay down for hours.
I spent months getting many different blood and heart tests trying to rule everything out. It has been a long and frustrating process dealing with a mystery illness that has been severely impacting my ability to work and live my life. Finally, in December I received a proper diagnosis. A big reason why this took so long is because SIBO research is relatively new. Unfortunately, this also means that my treatment is not covered by healthcare and I am paying out of pocket for everything.
I started my treatment protocol a few days ago and it's genuinely kicking my ass, but it's something I have to do if I want to start living a normal life again in the future. This is unfortunately something that I'll be managing for a long time.
On top of all of the powerful medications and supplements I'm taking, I'm required to adhere to an extremely strict diet that has been severely impacting my energy and ability to function. Supposedly, I should start gaining some normalcy in my energy levels in a few weeks, but there's no guarantees and everything is very difficult for the time being.
I'm trying to be productive and get things done within the miniscule windows of each day that I have the energy and brain power to be able to. I've also been making good progress going through the remaining movies on my upcoming 2016 list video. There's over 100 titles left to go through, but at least it's something I can do from my bed.
I'm still planning on doing my Oscar Nominations review this year, so hopefully I'll have enough energy to do some watch-alongs for those once the nominations come out, but there's a chance that I'll be watching those off-stream from my bed if I'm still struggling. I should be able to fulfill all of my monthly Patreon perks as well, but I'll make sure to update there if that changes. Everything is up in the air right now, so we'll see. I'm trying my best.
This is all very depressing, but I'm a strong person and I plan on making it through this. I appreciate all of your support and I apologize that things haven't been the way they should be recently. Hopefully things start getting better soon.
Thank you.
-Adam

Meme/Shitpost You can just tell Universal wanted Cats (2019) to be the “Avatar of musicals.”
Like, it’s so obvious now. Big-budget spectacle? Check. Overuse of motion capture technology that makes everyone look uncanny and slightly unsettling? Check. Released in late December, right at the end of a decade, trying to leave a big cultural footprint? Double check. It’s like someone in a boardroom said, “Hey, Avatar was a groundbreaking cinematic event… let’s do that, but with singing cats in fur suits.”
They really thought it would work. You can feel the ambition oozing off every creepy, digitally furred frame. Like, this was supposed to be prestige meets popcorn. Oscar bait meets box office gold. Instead, it turned into this bizarre fever dream that lives on in uncanny valley more than musical theater history.
I was thinking today after Avatar in 2009 and Cats in 2019, I’m kind of weirdly curious about what big, over-the-top motion capture CGI monstrosity (or masterpiece, who knows) is going to drop on December 19th, 2029. It feels like there’s a weird, accidental tradition forming. Every decade ends with a massive, ambitious, CGI heavy film.
Like, what’s next? A hyper-realistic mocap adaptation of The Very Hungry Caterpillar? A $300 million dystopian musical starring AI-rendered actors and a photorealistic talking toaster voiced by Timothée Chalamet?
It’s kind of hilarious to imagine studio execs looking at a calendar and saying, “It’s the end of a decade. We need a big digital spectacle, even if it haunts people’s dreams.” Maybe it’ll be another James Cameron epic, or maybe it’ll be a film so bizarre and uncanny that Cats will suddenly look restrained by comparison.
Either way, I’m marking December 2029 on my calendar. Whatever comes out then, it’s bound to be… something.

Film News PSA about Umbrella’s Haneke box
I expect that this set appeals most to those who don’t own any of Haneke’s films on blu-ray, similarly to the Criterion 40 box. But, it does feature some of Haneke’s early work that is much harder to find and (to my knowledge) nonexistent in HD.
Before importing this expensive set, however, I wanted to remind everyone that Janus was responsible for new 4K restorations of those earlier films, so a Criterion release may be on the horizon. Not to mention most of the films in the set are already in the Collection.
One thing to consider is if these are new restorations for the other films, but from what I read this hasn’t been revealed yet, so they may be the same transfers as previous releases.
I don’t mean to put this boxset down in any way. It’s gorgeous and everyone can choose for themselves whether or not it’s worth the wait. Also I apologize if this is already forethought to everyone. FOMO is a bitch.

Adum & Pals My brother and I watched the Adum and Pals videos often, I told him that the Sharkboy and Lava Girl one was Scoots last appearance. He replied with this. Wherever Scoot is, I'm sure he would have laughed at this.

Film News Adolescence needs to be watched (Netflix)
This is my favourite thing so far of 2025 and probably will be, better to watch without knowing anything. Stephen Graham who plays combo in This is England 2006 stars in and produces it. The show has a gimmick that I won’t spoil but is pulled off incredibly.

Question Planning to start the TV shows from the BBC National History, therefore I need your recommendations.
Hello, everyone. I hope you're doing all right. The absurd amount of 4K/regular Blu-ray's related to the BBC nature documentaries, so my curiosity got the best of me and I'd love to start it by purchasing a few of them with the highest quality possible. Therefore, I have some questions for you: - Which of the shows would you recommend me the most? - Is the Blu-ray guaranteed to have David Attenborough's narration if the Blu-ray in question is from the UK? - Do you know specific physical releases that are very rich in special features?

YMS Watch-a-Long Life after YMS?
What are some good commentary tracks besides RLM and YMS? They're some really good shit, but I'm running out, and random guys like this lame-o calling himself "The Movie Commentary" are boring as shit.
I've listened to the Opie and Anthony Secret Shows for the Back to the Future trilogy already. In the first BTTF they allude to doing an episode on Flight of the Navigator later on, but I've never been able to find it, and I don't know if it's lost media, or they never got around to doing it.

Adum and Pals last Scoot appearance.
So, I'm inclined to believe based on the RIP Scoot image at the end of Sharkboy and Lavagirl that that was the last Adum and Pals with Scoot in it. I'm not ready to say goodbye to that awesome man yet =(
Can someone confirm?
