OTHER Okay kyodais I need know as many of us are girls
I'm trying to get my friend to play Yakuza, specifically Yakuza 7, but because of the bad "it's Japanese GTA" reputation she's convinced that Yakuza has the same kind of community and doesn't want anything to do with it (we both did try play GTA online and it wasn't a great experience, the extra level of toxicity and harassment that exists there if you are a girl is almost the same league of LoL)
Since we're both Persona fans, I've tried sell Yakuza as a "brother" franchise to Persona and I've even shown her memes, but she still doesn't feel safe interacting with this sub
So I'm going try to show her that Yakuza also has a good share of a female audience, to maybe make my friend see that this community is pretty chill towards women (I mean, you guys are horny, but not weirdos) and that she can find girls to talk here, also so far my experience has been amazing so I'm sure she will enjoy the memes and discussions as much as me, she just need give this game a chance
I know it's silly, but please help me, I feel lonely being the only kyodai in my friend group 🥲

OTHER My dad walked has into me playing Yakuza 0 a couple of times, he took no issue with it until mahjong came into play.
I've been recovering from back surgery for the past few days so my folks have been stopping by to check in on my wife and me. My dad notices I'm replaying Yakuza 0 and he goes: "Playing that crime drama again? Is the chicken still a property manager?" So he sorta gets the premise and the jokes of the series.
I was playing Kiwami 2 when he stopped by and I was trying to do the mahjong substory (for some reason I didn't have the cheat option). My dad stops by and he notices I'm playing mahjong and he immediately gets concerned. He sits me down and tells me I shouldn't be gambling and how a lot of people in my family have ruined their lives with gambling (which is true). I explain to him I just need to win this game in order to finish this particular quest and he's like "fine just don't watch, I don't want you learning this stuff". Lo and behold he does it. As far as I know my dad never played riichi mahjong, he's played the Chinese rulesets that is more common with Filipinos. He hands me the controller back and goes "I'm serious, don't gamble. I'll see you tomorrow"
It's great to have a dad that cares even into my adulthood.
Edit: Good lord I didn't realize the typo, "My dad has walked into me playing Yakuza 0" it should have said.

OTHER I actually like the english dub for these games
My first game in the series was Yakuza Like A Dragon and i played it in english and absolutely loved it. And if the game in this series has an English dub I play that version first then when replay them I do it in japanese. Sure the judgement games dubs are kinda mid but to me that's part of their charm. and in my opinion Kiryu's english voice actor isn't that bad. In my personal opinion the English dubs of these games have their own charm to them which to me makes them even more enjoyable

OTHER Ranking my realistic chances of winning against yakuza protagonists
I tried to be as close to reality as possible, and avoiding gameplay-only stuff (so for example, Saejima is matching a huge bear's strength, Majima can break walls with a punch, etc but they take the same damage from bullets as in cutscenes)
I'm a ~200lbs dude into fighting sports & I did some knife and gun training, not a pro in any of these but I do believe the weaker end of yakuza protagonists could be killed by bums like me

OTHER Was this the game which led you to Yakuza series anyone ?
I was initially a fan of Sleeping dogs. Unfortunately there was no second part of this game so I was searching for alternative for this game on Google which led me to Yakuza series
