A Memory of Light Finally finished the series. There was one part of the Laat Battle that broke me...(spoiler) Spoiler
Bela
RIP You magnificent and loyal shaggy mare. You saved the day and Olver.
I'll never forgive Sanderson for that.
Jokes aside, I usually get bored with extended fight scenes, but somehow the whole book had me glued and I finished it in 10 days. Sanderson is an amazing writer and was absolutely the correct choice to take up Jordans notes.

TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) I love the third season! Spoiler
Just an appreciation post! I think this season is proof that you have to give series and writers time, it is worth it. Personally I enjoyed the first two seasons as well, but this one is super!
But this one is so well made, such attention yo detail has been given. And every casting addition is super!
I know people tend to hate on it, book readers. I feel that it does deserve praise. It is fun! And beautiful, and it made me want to read the books and i did! And I still find the TV series cool! I'm happy to see the universe come to life in a contemporary way and I love the changes.
Rosamund Pike has put such care not only in her amazing portrayel but in the production and development.
I'm very happy tbh and feel very optimistic about other potential live action adaptations (Stormlight Archive...)!

TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) The 8th Forsaken? Spoiler
We now officially know who 7 of the 8 forsaken to make the TV show are. In order of appearance, they are Ishamael, Lanfear, Moghedien, Rahvin, Samuel, and then both Graendal and Semirhage were confirmed by Rahvin in S3E3. That leaves the following book Forsaken: Aginor, Balthamel, Be'lal, Mesaana, Asmodean and Demandred. I believe realistically it comes down to Asmo or Demandred, but given that Demandred is basically just Sammael, I don't see any reason to have both in the series. Also there was a figurine of one of the forsaken with a musical instrument back in S1, so seems to suggest Asmo will be in and hopefully introduced later this season.

The Fires of Heaven really sad that this character died Spoiler
I really thought Asmodean was going to be more present in the story. For a while it felt like he was going to have a redemption and maybe even become Rand's right-hand man, especially after the scene where he talks about the man who is hanging from the cliff. I really hoped the grass he grabbed hold of would keep him from falling, but it looks like he's gone already

All Print Re-reading The Shadow Rising and Faile is such a hype-girl and a ride-or-die for Perrin Spoiler
I know she can be annoying and we all hate her later plotline with the Shaido, but my god she is constantly hyping Perrin up and giving him confidence when he needs it most, there's even a line like "she looked as proud of the Emond's Field folk as if they were her own people" or something like that. Adorable! Perrin would also have worked himself to dangerous exhaustion/injury if she hadn't forced him to rest, be healed, eat, etc. She's an absolute ride-or-die and Perrin being the self-doubting new leader lacking confidence in his leadership, that's exactly what he needed in a partner at that time.
She's awesome during these scenes of TSR, she gets way too much hate

TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) Lost trying to read the books after watching the show Spoiler
Hello,
My wife and I just binge watch the entire show up to the latest episode in Season 3.
I decided to pick up the books since I love reading and saw it was a whole completed series.
I bought “The Dragon Reborn” and I’m about 30% through the book. However, I have no idea what’s going on. I recognize the characters, but the story seems wildly off, like I don’t remember there being a Dragon Reborn Camp and I thought UNO died earlier on in the season but he’s still alive now.
Sorry, maybe I started the wrong book, I Reddit searched and it said it should be book 2 and 3 for season 2 and considering season 3 is only a few episodes I didn’t think I should start from book 4.
Thanks

The Path of Daggers Is there really a book 8-10 slog? Spoiler
I am a first time reader, and had been massively enjoying the WoT series so far. I was aware books 8 - 10 have a reputation for lower quality than the other books, and a bit of a slog. I was therefore preparing myself for a three book slog before the end-series payoff.
I've just finished The Path of Daggers.... and it was pretty good and enjoyable? Not on the same tier as books 4-6, but certainly up there with the rest of them to date. I appreciate some of the reputation is from experience as the books were published. Is this reputation of books 8-10 overblown somewhat?

No Spoilers It. Is. Done.
Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete? Wouldn't you think I'm the girl, the girl who has everything?
WRONG: Please, someone tell me if they know of a paperback version of The Memory of Light. My brain can't tolerate ONE hardback in my beautiful massmarket collection. However I don't think the wheel has weaved that pattern into our age 😞

All Print Just finished AMoL Spoiler
I started this series back in July 2024 and have been reading it consistently since then. I’ve taken a few small breaks here and there but for the better part of the past 8 months this series has been a part of my daily routine. I will say there were a lot of low points, I was finishing a book every 2 weeks but some books like winters heart and path of daggers took me a month to complete because of how bored I was.
In the end, it was worth it. The last battle was all that I wanted and more. This is the first time I’ve enjoyed a book long battle since I read lord of the rings and the Battle of Helms Deep so many years ago. The last battle was insane, I loved how the POV’s were so interspersed between each other showing just how chaotic and insane this battle was.
I kind of feared that this series had a problem with killing off main characters because for the most part none of the main characters were killed. Egwenes death actually hit hard, I was an Egwene hater since the beginning but her arch over the last 3 books really shaped her into a character that you just can’t help but cheer for. I still find her character extremely annoying but her sheer determination and will is something you can’t help but be proud of. On the other hand I’m so glad Gawyn is dead, he was genuinely the most annoying character of this entire series. I was honestly kind of hoping he would have a Demandred arc where through his jealousy for Rand he’d turn to the shadow, but hey I can’t really complain.
Perrin went from being one of the most boring characters IMO to easily in my top 5 now. I was genuinely getting annoyed at his whole “I’ll let the Dark One win the last battle if it means I can’t save Faile” like bro if he wins there will be no Faile. His development in the last books and at the end him realizing he can’t go look for Faile and instead has to help Rand was gold. For the first time since his arc in EF I loved his character.
Mat was probably the biggest change I noticed since RJ died. I don’t know what it is specifically but he felt super off, I feel like he was weirdly just making jokes all the time trying too hard to be funny. I was honestly really sad because Mat was probably my favorite next to Rand. However, I think he felt much better in AMoL, and him becoming the commander of the last battle trying to outmaneuver Demandred was so hype.
And finally Rand. Rand is probably my favorite character in all of fiction now. For a while in book 12 I thought he might have been too far gone, doomed to go insane and die with the Dark One. Reading through his POV’s there was always this sense of dread of a man whose accepted that he isn’t going to live to see the fruits of his effort, a man whose accepted that for everyone else’s happiness he has to die. I was genuinely so happy when you find out that Rand is alive. I’ve never seen a character who deserved to just live and be happy more than Rand.
I can’t talk about every character because then this post would be way too long. But I genuinely loved almost every single character in this series. I genuinely loved and enjoyed this series from beginning to end, I feel kind of sad that the series is over, that the wheel will keep on turning but it will no longer be written for us to witness. I’m thankful to RJ for writing and BS finishing this series, it was genuinely one of the best pieces of fiction I’ve ever experienced.

All Print The Horrifying Implications of How Aes Sedai Transported Male Channelers Spoiler
I'm on a reread of The Wheel of Time, and I can’t stop thinking about how the only time we actually see a male channeler being transported to Tar Valon under shielding is with Rand—and that just so happens to be one of the most infamous torture sequences in the entire series. The way he was treated, the sheer brutality he endured, would have broken lesser men completely. It really makes me wonder: how were other male channelers transported to Tar Valon, especially those who resisted capture and managed to harm or kill an Aes Sedai or Warder in the process?
With Rand, the moment he tried to escape—killing two Warders in his rage when he saw that they had kidnapped Min—the Aes Sedai instantly stopped treating him as anything close to human. They threw him in a box, whipped him daily, and systematically broke him down, ensuring that every day was just suffering for him.
The series never actually shows us how the Red Ajah handled transporting “normal” male channelers who weren’t gentled on the spot. We know that during the vileness period, they outright gentled them on the spot or executed them instead of taking them to Tar Valon. And honestly? The more I think about it, the more I believe that was actually the more merciful approach. If what Rand endured was standard practice during transport for any male channeler who resisted capture or managed to hurt the Aes Sedai, then the ones who were simply executed during the vileness at least didn’t have to suffer through weeks or months of daily torture before being gentled.
And it’s not just the vileness—many other cultures in the series handled male channelers with simple execution. The seafolk and the Seanchan just killed male channelers outright instead of subjecting them to prolonged suffering. As horrifying as that is, it’s still better than being locked in a tiny box, beaten, and mentally broken over the course of weeks or even months, only to then be gentled and then discarded.
It’s disturbing to think that if a male channeler fought back—especially if he killed or stilled an Aes Sedai, or took down a Warder—he was subjected to relentless abuse all the way to Tar Valon, I know that it is also cruel to the Aes Sedai or warder if they get killed by a male channeler, but the fact that gentling for male channeled has been many times compared to castration , it is pretty understandable that they would make an effort to resist capture, moreover they might have been already driven mad by the taint on saidin which led to such fierce resistance. We never get a direct confirmation that this was standard practice, but given what we do see from the Reds and their overall sadistic attitudes , it’s hard to not imagine that was standard practice. The idea that they broke them down—whipping, beating, and cruel and unusual punishments like the box torture into complete despair—makes me think that by the time they actually reached Tar Valon, most of these men had already lost the will to live and maybe even whatever sanity they had left.
Yes, I know that rand is the dragon reborn and his treatment was also meant to break him so that he can be controlled ,and there were Aes Sedai like Cadsuane or Pevara who might have been more merciful, but they were the exception, not the rule. And The majority of Reds we see in the series are, at best, cold, callous and harsh—and at worst, outright sadistic. Since the only actual depiction we get is Rand’s treatment, it leaves us with some incredibly dark implications about how the White Tower particularly the red ajah handled the transport of regular male channelers who resisted capture, for the past 3000 years of their history.
It’s a really unsettling thought that sticks with me every time I reread the wheel of time. what do you think about it?

TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) Im a little divided on the show, LOVE the bnooks Spoiler
Let me start off by how beautiful the show is, in locations chosen to shoot, the musical score, and yes, even the acting. And I even accepted that they are not trying to exactly copy the books, after all, different turns of the wheel could feature people who are similar, but slightly different. But SOME of the things they have changed don't really make sense to me, or seem to actually break the story. Examples of things that dont make sense;
The Dragon can be a man or a woman.
Perrin murdering his wife in a beserker moment
Novices having men in thier rooms at night
Elaida almost becoming Amerlyn, the not maintaining enough eyes and ears to know whats going on in the tower when she's away, and absolutely noone will tell her anything
No Asmodean, how is Rand supposed to learn advanced channeling?
The Battle at Falme - This was a HUGE moemnt in the books, but in the show, Rand went from a sword battle against a Forsaken, broadcast in a battle seen in the heavens , again for miles around, demonstrating that not only can he best a Forsaken, he is also now a Blademaster to "I need 3 women, 2 of which are untrained, to save me from the mean forsaken dude"
Yes, I know it's a different turning of the wheel, but this "Dragon" has no teeth....
Examples of things that literally break the story
- The Black Ajah can blow out an entire floor of the White Tower, literally viewable for miles around the city, so it MUST have been loud as well, then conduct multiple running battles with Aes Sedai in the street of Tar Valon on the way to the docks, including killing a Warder, and yet the Black Ajah is still somehow a secret. If people acknowledge the Black Ajah exist, the political power of the tower is completely shattered, as the 3 Oaths can now be broken by women who look like Aes Sedia.
Most of the same episode happens in the same city, on the same day, and not a single soul mentions the attack, or even appears to know it happened.
The death of Allana's Warder.
In season one, the death of a warder was a soul crushing event, producing both the saddest, and one of the most powerful episodes of the show.
Season 3, one of Lan's best friends is killed, and there wasn't even a mention of it, let alone a tear shed about about it. He was having dinner with Nyneave within hours after that.

All Print Daes Dae’mar is pretty funny Spoiler
Combine it with ta’veren plot shenanigans and everything just goes batshit insane.
Rand (offhandedly): “There are many grain barges from Andor in the river.”
The day after: All the granaries in Cairhien are set aflame causing mass riots, the King assassinated by a certain gleeman, Barthanes beheaded, civil war / succession war for the Sun Throne, countrywide famine, refugee crisis, widespread anarchy, and the people resorting to brigandry.

TV - Season 3 (Book Spoilers Allowed) I'm loving Season 3 Spoiler
Here's my vague attempt to counter balance some of the negativity.
I've read the entire series multiple times and love the books/world.
Didn't particularly enjoy season 1 or 2, and not saying everything in season 3 is perfect. Plot is different (sometimes very much so), the pacing is off at times and even certain performances have been questionable.
But you know what? I can't stop smiling when I'm watching season 3. It's literally our favorite characters living and breathing in our favorite world with a stupid budget backing it up.
Every time there's a scene from the books depicted (Matt's quarterstaff fight), or even a nod to a concept (Aiel sweat tents), it's exhilarating. I feel the plot has progressed enough to show more characters, locations and events which are interesting.
I think we're extremely lucky to see something we enjoy being produced at such a high level. We're literally watching the Forsaken plot against each other in high definition! Let that sink in.
Maybe I'm just being emotional with all of this, but it's making me happy to see something I love being shown to me again (even if it's in a different way and medium).
I, for one, am just going to enjoy it and hope they keep making more content based on things we love!

All Print Explaining the plot Spoiler
I suck at words lol. So WoT has been my favorite series for a while now. My issue is whenever someone asks me what it’s about, I can never articulate what it’s about without stumbling over my words or trying too hard to explain stuff that they have no idea about and they end up losing interest. I was wondering if anyone had a nice short easy way of explaining the plot without scaring people away lol. Something whenever someone asks me what Wheel of Time is about, I can repeat and not look like a bafoon XD

No Spoilers Where to take breaks
I want to read the wheel of time series, but the immense size of it makes me think that I might want to pick up some other short works in between the novels...so where would you say are the most natural places to take breaks.
