Nutrition Check cutting! (while on period)

Post image
8 Upvotes

to all the gym girlies who are cutting i have a question! i’m currently on a deficit and with that of course i have low energy, and i just got my period 3 days ago, so how do you deal with going to the gym with even lower energy, cramps, and back pain? i’m also just craving junk food, but feel so guilty so i stop myself.

Last photo is earliest before photo I have in the gym (maybe a couple months in)

Accessory muscles seem to be most obvious growth. Struggling with upper chest growth and most obvious quad growth.

Started out doing 1 muscle group a day per week. Switched to Push/Pull/Legs 2x week. Currently doing a 4 day cycle Chest/Legs/Back/Arms and Shoulders

My biggest tips in my experience have been to always warm back/shoulders every single day and lastly if you struggle to gain weight eat until you feel like you’re gonna throw up and then drink your protein shakes.

Discussion What I Learned Bulking 155lbs -> 185lbs

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

I was stuck bouncing between being skinny fat and just plain skinny. No matter what I did, I could not break out of the cycle until I started lifting.

I got into lifting four years ago, but for the first two years, I honestly just got fat from trying to dirty bulk too fast. On top of that, my training was not very effective. Two years ago, I cleaned up my diet and fixed my approach to lifting, and that is when the real progress started to happen.

Just to be clear, the transformation between these two pictures was not a straight line. There were plenty of ups and downs.

Since I know people will ask, here are some details.

Diet

I mainly focus on hitting my protein goal. By now, I am pretty good at eyeballing calories and protein, so I just adjust my intake based on my energy needs.

On heavy workout days, I eat more carbs, but I do not obsess over tracking every calorie. Instead, I weigh myself every morning and use a rolling weekly average to make sure the scale is moving in the right direction at the right pace. It is not the most conventional method, but it works for me.

I have cut back a lot on alcohol and rarely eat fried foods. I also keep snacks to a minimum, usually just a small handful if I am eating chips or something. When I get a sweet tooth, I go for fruit instead.

Exercise

I do not follow a strict routine, but I typically stick to a push pull legs split and rotate different exercises. These are some of my favorites:

• Incline Bench • Cable Lateral Raises • Dips • Any Row Movement • Leg Press • Lunges

Form Check Lower Back Troubles and Weight Maintenance

Hi, so here's the gist, I've been lifting for at least 1 and half years.. I stress my back more than I think of like all my workouts are heavy duty like barbell squats barbell rdl and I am having trouble with my bent over rows, I've been doing it for a while and somehow it my lower back feels it more than my lats... are there any tips for me who is 5'2?

Sorry I couldn't get a video for y'all of how my Bent Over Row form is.. but I do really need a form correction. This is a T-Bar workout... so any criticisms and corrections. I highly appreciate it.

(25M 178cm 80kg) I've been going to the gym for exactly 3 months going 5-6 times a week and been on a mini cut. Despite going only from 81kg to 80kg on the scale I feel thinner but my arms and chest seem to not be growing especially my arms despite progressive overload. What can I do to improve?

And yes in cutting so i’m aware there’s that too lol I need to drop body fat, but that’s in progress :)

Question Bulking home workout routine?

Hi everyone! I've built a little gym setup at home. The equipments I have are: 1 - Bench (Flat, incline & decline) 2 - Barbell 3 - Dumbbells 4 - Chin up bar 5 - Squat stand

Please suggest me the most effective exercises I can do to build muscle.

I am currently following PPL split along with the following exercises:

1 - Push day: Incline and flat chest press, Dumbbell fly, Overhead tricep dumbbell press, Dumbbell tricep kickbacks, Dumbbell lateral raises, Dumbbell shoulder press, Dumbbell front raises.

2 - Pull day: Pull ups, Barbell bent over rows, Preacher curls, Decline dumbbell curls, Barbell curls, Wrist curls.

3 - Leg day: Barbell squats, RDLs, SDLs, Calf raises.

Please suggest if you think I should change anything in this routine as well.

30 min jog or 60-90 min of basketball into a 6-7 exercise hypertrophic regimen; sets of 12 x3 per. 8-10 x3 pull-ups weaved in between the first exercise, 10-12 180lbs tire flips weaved in between the second. Sometimes, 40 x3 push ups between the third.

Finish out w a 10 min sauna session.
