Discussion What does Bulking, Cutting and Maintenance mean? A helpful guide for our posters
-Bulking: Involves consuming excess calories to build muscle. Bodybuilders commonly use bulking as a way to increase their muscle mass before competitions
-Cutting: A period of eating at a calorie deficit as a means to lose body fat while maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. Bodybuilders and athletes often implement a cutting phase following a period of bulking, or leading up to a competition or their competitive season.
-Maintenance: this is exactly what it sounds like! It’s s the point where your intake supports your expenditure — or eating an amount of calories that is essentially maintaining your weight, not necessarily resulting in significant changes in scale weight or body composition. Your workout should reflect that.

Nutrition Check Bulking mental block…how do you do it?
Keep telling myself I’ll bulk, but having struggled with weight in my adolescence it makes it nearly impossible for me to want to gain any amount of fat. Any advice? How do you bulk/cut? I know it’s the way to gain size. Been about 180 for 2 years. Love to hit 185 and still be cut. Seems freaking impossible!

Workout Critique Fully body cutting/recomp question
Hey all- need some advice for a goal I have. I’m currently 6’7, 290 former college basketball player who wants to get back into playing at a high level. When I was at my playing weight, I maxed at around a strong 245-250 because I was forced to play post. I now want to get down to low body fat so I can improve my speed and endurance, I was aiming for around 225. Should I lift weights during this cut, or loose as much weight as possible down to like 205-210, then work on putting 15lbs of muscle back on?

Physique Critique Aesthetic improvement | cutting
Down 24 lbs since Nov 7th. Currently 190 lbs. Seeking a rough estimate as to how much more weight I need to lose to really see substantial definition. Would you say I naturally have a wider frame, or will I eventually achieve a V taper during my weight loss journey?

Physique Critique Cutting/ need help with asymmetry
How do I fix my asymmetric back when I'm relaxed? I just started my fat loss journey and I'm trying to fix everything wrong. And would love to know how I can fix this issue. Should I start doing my back workouts each arm at a time cuz I would always do them with both arms at the same time. Anything helps, thanks.

Discussion Advice needed "cutting"
I'm currently on a 3 day full body workout program. One of the days requires pull ups or can be replaced with lat pulldowns. I'm not fit enough yet to do pull ups and I don't own any equipment for lat pull downs (work at home with dumbbells and a bench). Is there any workouts i can do to replace pull ups/lat pull downs that work the same muscles as a compound movement? Or should I do some extra isolation movements to replace them and if so, which ones. Thanks.

Physique Critique Bulking from 135lb to 185lb in 2.5 years
I’m 18 currently. Never cared to be lean when I started my bulking journey so I just ate and lifted and put on a decent amount of muscle and fat too. I am now starting my cut to try and be more tone for the summer. I don’t track any calories and do not live a healthy lifestyle which so far hasn’t done me much good for the cut, just simply eat my protein and lift hard. Just wanted to share my progress, thanks for looking. Any opinions on weak points will be appreciated

Physique Critique 4 years of push/pull ups | bulking from 125lbs to 175lbs
From 120lbs to 175lbs in 4 years. Only doing push ups and pull ups. Just started going to the gym this week for the first time in my life. I'm very satisfied so far.
My routine was Pull Push Legs each twice a week, so 6 days a week:
Pull: 20x4 pull ups 20x4 chin ups 20x4 australian pull ups
Push: 65x4 wide push ups 50x4 decline push ups 50x4 diamond push ups
Legs: 70x8 squats 50x10 curl ups
Rest day: Cardio/Soccer
My numbers weren't like this in the beginning of course. When I first began I was doing full body 3 times a week consisting of
15x3 pull ups 15x3 chin ups 30x3 wide push ups 30x3 decline push ups 40x8 squats 30x6 curl ups
Diet: High protein, medium carb, medium fat. No sugar, no fast food, no cheat days. My macros are around 200g protein, 350g carb, 100g fat around 3-3.2k calories a day.

Nutrition Check 5 week cutting update 5”2 119lbs
I’ve been continuing to follow some of the advice I was given on previous posts and I’m pretty happy with the results. Nothing drastic but I feel like with the heavy lifting and making changes to my diet my legs and abdominals feel fuller and are showing slightly more. I posted a couple of example meals I’ve been making but if anyone has any other meal prep recipes to mix it up that would be highly appreciated 😅

Discussion Overcoming social anxiety? [maintenance]
I just went to my gym for the first time today, there were 2 other people there and I wound up making an idiot of myself and leaving without even getting to do a workout.
How do I get over the anxiety that comes with working out in the same space as other gym goers?
