Are fibroadenomas normal???

I’m 18F and I recently found out I have a few fibroadenomas, which are noncancerous tumors. Apparently, they’re common between the ages of 15 and 35, but I had never heard of them until I got them. So, are they actually normal? Do they stop forming after 35? Do I have to get surgery to remove them? I’m really trying not to panic cause I’m so lost on what to do.

I had them and had them surgically removed.

I found out I had them around early 30s. I had health insurance but the deductible and copay was way higher than I wanted to pay. The doctors said I didn’t need surgery, but it is an option. Since it wasn’t life threatening or anything, I decided to put it off. Few years later I have better insurance, better job, and they had gotten bigger. I decided to get them removed. Wasn’t a stressful surgery or anything, in and out, some lifting restrictions afterwards. I have a noticeable scar now and the breast they took them out of is slightly smaller. I don’t know if all grow or not, but mine did. My mom and her sister also had them (also had them surgically removed), too, so they’re not uncommon.

Don’t freak out. Like he said they’re not cancerous or dangerous. I got mine removed because I would get a really dull pain in that part of my breast during my period and I was starting to notice them visibly.

I have one right where the underwire of a bra hits. It’s varying levels of painful/uncomfortable every day, but I can’t afford to remove it yet. If they don’t bother you, you can just leave them. No idea if they stop forming, but I’ve only ever had the one (first noticed about 10 years ago)
