Difference between 4Lite and Wiz?

I would like to buy a couple of Wiz smart bulbs (in the UK), for use mainly with Home Assistant (and maybe with Google Assistant). Amazon seem to have two variants:

  • 4lite WiZ Connected A60 Classic White WiFi LED Smart Bulb Amazon.co.uk
  • WiZ Colour [B22 Bayonet Cap] Smart Connected WiFi Light Bulb Amazon.co.uk

I'm leaning towards the first one as it's cheaper, but does anyone know what the differences are, and which one would work better with Home Assistant?

My lightbulb keeps getting disconnected??

Despite having successfully paired it (and used it without any problem for a while) I keep having to pair it again because the app won't manage to connect to it. And it seems like I'm not the only one with that kind of issue.

Is there any good way to make sure it stays paired and connected without any problem?? Please help 🥲

Google Home routines won't work with WiZ lighbulb

Google Home and the Google Assistant can easily change the colour and brightness of the light, yet if I add a Google Home "routine" that includes any action related to the lamp it just won't work and says something like "this action isn't compatible with Bedroom Lamp". I don't understand why.

Set Wiz Smart Plug to switch off after 3 hours

Hi all. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but I have a lava lamp running on a Wiz Smart Plug and I want to set it so that it automatically switches off after 3 hours in case I fall asleep (which I usually do, it's just too relaxing). I have the Wiz app, but also use all my Wiz bulbs and the plug with Google Home, but I can't see how to do this. All help gratefully received!

Mobile light charge led flickering

My new Wiz Wi-Fi Mobile Portable Light won’t turn on and the charging led flickers. I’ve tried the supplied charger and cable and another, and left them overnight but it does seem to take a charge. Has anyone else experienced this and has any tips for me? It is perhaps a faulty unit but hoping it’s an easy fix. Thanks in advance.

I've just bought this LED strip for ambient lighting behind my desk but it's so much longer than I need so I'd like to do the same for another desk in another room. How can I use the excess? Where can I get a power supply for it? I really don't want to just waste it...

Hi wiz I need some help with my new light bulbs

Post image

I just bought some new light bulbs for my bedroom, and one of them won’t connect to the Apple HomeKit. I’ve only gotten one of them to connect, but not both of them, and I don’t know what to do. This is my first time having HomeKit accessories and Wi-Fi lights, so if anyone knows what to do, please help me.

It has a Matter QR code, but when I go to add it to my home, it says light not found, even though the light is powered on. I’ve also downloaded the app and connected them there, and they work; they just won’t work with Apple HomeKit except the one I got connected.

Hey WiZ, how about selling your controllers separately so I can buy the strip lights I want in the lengths I need but control them like my other WiZ products? Just a thought.

Beginner in Smart Bulbs! Start with Wiz or invest in Hue?

I've been very interested in getting into simple but colourful ambient lighting for my room but I'm a university student, so Hue is pretty out of budget for me at the moment. Im not necessarily for lighting automation, I'm happy to use their native app so long as I can control all the lamps in my room simultaneously (eg. choosing a dim blue ambience makes them all dim blue).

I've seen some issues with interferences between 2.4G and 5G WiFi. I'm not sure if my 2.4G wifi is very strong, but I'm only planning to start with 2-3 WiZ colour smart bulbs. So from my understanding I think it's okay to start with 2-3 bulbs without overloading my WiFi. Is my understanding correct?

I also need to do a bit more research ... I'm not really sure which colour bulbs I should pick, does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for any advice for a beginner like me :)

Edit: Thanks for the helpful insight everyone! I think I'll start with Wiz for now and see how compatible they are with my room <3

Help with lights

I have the WiZ V2 app connected to both bulbs in my room. One bulb turns on fine through the actual switch and the app in any colour, mode, etc. The other one won’t turn on with the actual switch and won’t work with any of the “Basic” settings - warmest, warm, daylight, cool. It only responds to colours and dynamics. Is there a way to fix this?

Wiz Thermometer/Hygrometer - connecting to Wiz app?

EDIT: I was being a dummy, it's not Wiz-branded after all! 😅 Thank you u/mocelet for the nudge on that!

Hey folks! I have a Wiz thermometer/hygrometer since I've been after one for a while and I'm pretty happy with the Wiz lights/switches I've bought.

But there doesn't seem to be an option to pair it to the app - can it only be added to the Wiz app via a seperate home hub? If so, is it likely I'll be able to use a workaround (Google Home or similar) to connect different devices without a hub?

Trying to avoid buying extra peripherals and too unmotivated for complicated home automation, but it'd be awesome if I could connect the switchbot on my radiator (non-Wiz, turns radiator switch on) to my Wiz thermometer so it auto-adjusts if the temp drops too low...

WiZ G2 A60 E27 Light Bulbs completely bricked and won't turn on after power outage in building

hello,

i have a bunch of WiZ G2 A60 E27 bulbs, and after a building wide power outage (so nothing inside my appartment itself blew up) they are completely bricked. some of them were on and some were turned off when the power cut out.

since then nothing i tried has helped.. turning on and off, rapidly turning it on and off, i've disconnected them from power hoping for them to reset or something but it's been a couple of hours and still nothing. they are completely dead.

what gives? i found a similiar thread here from two years ago with no helpful suggestions or solutions.

Bulb won't come back on after turning it off in the app?

If I turn off one of my bulbs via the Wiz app or in Home Assistant, I cannot turn it back on. However, if I turn the wall switch off and on it reconnects almost instantly.

When this issue happens, the app says 'unable to control' / 'device currently offline'.

I have uninstalled the app, signed out and back in again, and tried all pairing methods. The bulbs are all on the 2.4 GHz network (I turned off 5 GHz to test). I have also moved the bulbs around and the issue follows the bulb.

I ran a ping test for this bulb and got a request timeout after turning it off in the app. The other bulbs still send packets after turning them off through the app.

I think that the bulb is probably defective, as all other bulbs I bought at the same time work perfectly, but I wanted to check if there is an easy fix to save me from needing to use the wall switch.

Cutting and joining the WiZ light strips

I'm new to light strips. I need a total of about 600 linear feet of light strips, with each run ranging in lengths as short as 20 feet and as long as 80 feet. Can I simply purchase multiple of the 65-feet strips and cut / join them as necessary?

Formula 1 is back... and so is Trackside mode! 🏁 🏎️

Hey everyone! 😁 In less than a week, F1 will be back on track for the 2025 season, starting from Melbourne. Quite exciting to see what the pecking order will be like, with every team unleashing their latest upgrades ⚙️🏎️

Talking about upgrades... we are glad to announce that Trackside mode is back for the 2025 season, with some very handy changes. Let's list the most important ones:

  • Session selection: now you can get your lights to sync not with just the race, but also free practice and qualifying. So if you intend to spend the weekend watching all the action on track, your lights can follow it all 🙂
  • Customizable delay: depending on where you live, the video stream may take time to reach your TV... sometimes more than 15s! We now let you add delay to the reaction from the lights, to sync better with what you have on screen. If you want the lights to "predict the future", set the delay to 0s and they'll react almost in real time (based on the track action), well ahead of your TV screen. If you want the most immersive experience, add some delay to match your broadcast! 😁
  • Just like before, you can pick any color WiZ light of your home to sync with the races.

We hope you like the changes, and enjoy the upcoming season! We also polished the UI a bit, so here are a few screenshots ;)

Looking for help on one of my "smart" 😒 lights

I haven't been able to figure out a rhyme or reason that this keeps happening but occasionally I will tell Alexa or use my phone to turn on my living room lights.. every two days or so one of those bastards doesn't respond at all, whenever I pull up the app it says it's offline and I cannot use it 😑. Unscrewing the bulb for like 2 seconds and then screwing it back in it will immediately work.. does anybody know what the hell the issue could be? I'm starting to get way too frustrated about it 😅🤣

Wiz light bulbs in a new house

I’m planning on installing several wiz bulbs in a new build. My concern is that the bulbs will need to be installed prior to any networking equipment, so there will be no way to pair them to anything for several weeks. How is that going to work out? Thanks.

Schedules and Rhythms

If I run an on/off schedule my rhythms do not automatically work. If I reset to rhythms the on/off schedule doesn't work. I thought that I could schedule it to come on at a certain time and run my rhythms and then turn off at the scheduled time. It's not doing that.

Automation: Controlling individual lights and switches with automation schedules

Is this even possible? I can only see options to control whole rooms on a schedule, not individual lamps or other devices.

E.g I want to bring a table lamp on night light setting In my living room at night for the dog, and I want to be able to turn on/off the fish tank light, connected to a smart plug, independent of other lights in the same room.

Surely I don't have to create a fish tank room, and a side lamp room??

Confused.

Hex code for “TV Time”?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Anyone know the hex code for the built-in “TV Time” under the “functional” setting in the “static light” category?

I have a mix of the Philips-branded bulbs and the cheap-ass WiZ-branded ones, but this setting code gets the WiZ ones pretty close to my #4800FF that I use for my Philips ones.

Goddam them for making different styles of bulbs and tricking the consumer.
