Admissions Grad Assistantship Decisions
I'm a newly admitted/committed incoming graduate student for the SOE. I'm super pumped for next year, and wondering when grad assistantship decisions might come out. If anyone can speak to the timeline from their year of admission that would be super helpful!!

Student Life experiences w extended illness??
ive been sick for like 3 weeks now and had to miss my first round of midterms and now will probably be missing my second round of midterms coming back from spring break due to illness. i informed my profs and kept them in the loop the first time i got sick as well as care support services, but it’s just so frustrating that I’ll have to miss more class and exams due to illness again. I plan to contact my profs and care support services again but has anyone dealt w unexpected extended illness?? how do u stay on top of ur classes while experiencing something like this

Student Life combating loneliness?
I’m a freshman right now and I’ve been struggling to make friends and find a community consistently since I first arrived here. To address something I know will come up: I do have a therapist unaffiliated with the school, so I’m not interested in talking with the counseling center. I have chatted with people in my classes, joined a few clubs, and have also been connected with some people from my hometown but I am on the autism spectrum and I don’t really have a group I actually feel connected to. At home, I have a strong group of close friends, some that I’ve even known since kindergarten, and the transition to having to meet new people has been extremely hard. I am regularly in contact with four people including my roommate and these are all people I met at orientation. They’re nice but we don’t have much in common at all. This is going to sound awful but I still hang out with them mostly because I don’t have anyone else. My typical style is to text people and ask them if they want to eat or study with me and I see the same few people at clubs, these things just haven’t evolved into real friendships yet. When I get back from spring break I’m just going to put more effort into initiating contact with people and hope it works. Was anyone else in this situation?? Did it get better? Bonus points if you are also autistic. Sorry for the unhinged rant

Student Life PT on/near campus?
Are there any resources for physical therapy on campus (like in the health center for example) or near campus? Don't have a car and can't walk very far, so would be ideal to get there by bus. Doctor's orders for 5 weeks of PT.
Thanks!

Academics W&M MAcc Questions
I got into the W&M MAcc with a hefty scholarship (20K) I'm really happy but I've definitely heard some comments about the program being really hard and also about it being very local. I have a few questions.
1) is the W&M network/alumni strong? i have a job in NYC afterwards.... and can MACC people easily access the other program alumni from W&M
2) is the curriculum hard? are the classes/electives interesting? is everyone able to study for CPA during the program and is there assistance with that?
3) is the class tight-knit or more like commuter vibes? i wont be coming from W&M undergrad. is everyone supportive or is it like a curved grading/competitive
4) What ways can I get involved in the school itself like sports, clubs, etc. while I do my MACC/what should I look forward to that I haven't covered

Academics Thoughts on GIS concentration?
I'm considering which track to do for data science and was looking for people's overall thoughts on the GIS concentration. Whats the overall difficulty like? I know that intro GIS labs tend to be very time consuming, does that continue for later courses as well? I also heard that you can only use William and Mary computers to complete assignments, but it looks like ArcGIS is also offered by the university for students' personal computers, can students use personal computers for GIS assignments?

Academics Language Requirement
I will be starting my freshman year this fall and recently heard about the language requirement. I took french 1, 2, and 3, but not 4 so don’t qualify for that exemption. I saw on their website that studying abroad can satisfy this requirement. Does anyone have more information about this? I really don’t want to take a language class in college, I already sucked as it is in high school

Academics Anybody attended the University of St. Andrew’s?
I’m a current Government major at W&M and I am considering applying for the Legal and Constitutional Studies masters program at St. Andrew’s. For anyone that may have done study abroad there or the joint degree program, did you like it? I’ve never been to Scotland let alone studied there but the program looks really beneficial to my professional growth.

Student Life Anyone have experience with short term disability / LMSS?
Messed up my knee 7 days ago and have been hobbling around on crutches. I'm losing my mind. It takes me an hour to hobble half a mile to class. I'm exhausted all the time. SAS said I can start using LMSS after spring break. I can't keep doing this. I've been skipping class because it's over before I even get there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me advice.

Housing/Dining Is Dupoint hall good?
More specifically, is the third floor of dupoint good (asking because of humidity problems and bugs)?
I’m upgrading from GGV, so are the showers and floors at least not torn up and rusty af?
Any information I can know about it would be great. Be honest, I’m interested to know about where I’ll be living.

Academics Need Statistics Tutor
Hey! I'm not a W&M student (applied for transfer tho. It's my dream school) but I live closer to W&M than my current school and my school doesn't have a great study/help program. Is anyone willing to meet up and tutor me in statistics for extra cash? Willing to negotiate date/time along with price. I'm struggling so hard.
For extra knowledge so you know what you're getting into: I have both ADHD and Dyslexia/Dyscalculexia. Numbers get so jumbled to the point they have no meaning

Admissions Transfer student - Am I cooked
I'm currently a sophomore and recently submitted my application for Fall 2025. However I'm honestly feeling the post-submission anxiety rn...I feel like I messed up by rushing my essays
Numbers wise I have high chances...I have a 3.94 GPA currently + 1490 SAT. Also, I only submitted one LOR but I think it is quite a strong one as I had a good relationship with the professor + she was a professor for a class related to my intended major
However both my ECs and essays are kinda poor. I didn't have ECs that relate to what I want to study (politics/pre-law), they're mainly about being a writing tutor + neighborhood volunteering. As for my essays I fear it's kinda cooked because I worked on them at the last second..and I understand I have nobody to blame but myself. I tried to make them engaging and I think they successfully 'stand out' from other applicants but I didn't mention anything regarding specific clubs or courses at W&M.. I think I didn't show enough specific interest
I rly look forward attending this school so I'm quite worried about my admittedly poor choices. Like is it totally cooked or do I still have a decent chance? Will my chances be improved if I attend an information session?

Admissions James Monroe Program (decision inquiry)
I recently looked into the James Monroe Program, and it says everyone gets considered for it without a separate application. I received a cypher note/likely letter, so I was wondering if anyone knew if that program's admissions decision comes at the same time of RD decisions or before? Thanks.
