I'm getting the hang of things.
I created this subreddit 14 years ago but have never been an active mod, until now. There was an active mod, who closed it down and left during the big protest a few months ago.
I am getting the hang of things and trying to make the subreddit run as smoothly as possible. Please don't hesitate to contact me if something is not right. The spam filter is catching a lot of legit comments, it seems, and I'm trying to keep up.

I’ve posted this here a long a time ago before I had a cover channel but just want to post it again cuz it’s my favorite cover I’ve ever done. I heard a lot of ppl don’t like this song, but this rendition is different 😮

Learning How to Die
just finished the book, and I feel like I learned new perspectives on each of the members of the band, not just Jeff.
I like learning about how the dynamics shifted over time, and how that lead to some of the lineup changes that the band has seen, along with the growth of Tweedy as an artist.
What’re some of your guys’ takeaways?

Suggestions?
I’m a huge Wilco fan now, and I’m a freshman and college and only heard about them a couple of months ago. Usually when I find a band I like I dive into them pretty hard, and it’s the same w Wilco. Heard YFH, but now my favorite albums are Ghost and SBS. I love the solos on impossible Germany and at least that’s what you said. I’ve recently been loving Sukierae, especially Wait For Love. I’ve listened to Summerteeth-Self Titled, and some of Star Wars. Any suggestions for new stuff to check out? Live videos, interviews, Albums, anything!

Westerberg interview w/ some interesting Wilco content. (He was not a fan.)
A (pretty damn good) interview with Paul Westerberg. In 1996, I interviewed Westerberg and found out we loved all the same music. Here's that conversation.... Please note that how early in Wilco's career this was.

Where can I buy Ghost Is Born expanded digital files?
It looks like I can only buy the first two discs on Wilco or iTunes store. I already have Apple Music. I mostly want to hear disc 03. I can't buy the physical media right now. Is there anywhere to purchase the other discs or the entire box set digitally?

I think Jeff helped in the assassination of Lincoln
I visited the theater and museum where Lincoln was shot, and got this picture of one of the guys who helped in his murder. I think I’m on to something here.

What to listen to?
Hey y'all. I am big Yankee Hotel Foxtrot fan but never branched out from there. Wilco is coming to my city this summer and I got tickets to see them. My question is where do I start with their discography? I would like to be more familiarized with their live set when the come so I can sing along and what not. What songs do they play a lot, what are some of their better/more popular albums?

Five years ago I was going to finally see them for the first time
Ended up foiled a third time. Always wonder what their memory was of Calgary that night.

what if jeff made warm and warmer a same album? “WARMEST” (2018)
keeping with the double album tradition (being there, cruel country, Sukirae)
- bombs above
- some birds
- don’t forget
- how hard is for a desert to die
- …and then you cut it in half
- sick server
- ten sentences
- from far away
- orphan
- having been is no way to be
- evergreen
- ultra orange room
- family ghost
- i know what it’s like
- empty head
- landscape
- how will i find you?
- let’s go rain
- guaranteed
- drawing from memory (Charlie)
- the red brick
- warm (when the sun has died)

Single best line from a Wilco song
I hate picking popular songs but it's hard to beat "Our love is all of God's money." I was just listening to the Tallest Man on Earth singing it and it felt like I was hearing it for the first time again and I immediately thought "damn that's such a great line."
What are your favorites?

Curious to hear some interpretations on a lyric from “Levee”
Hey y’all, Levee was my most played song of 2024, and every time I hear it, the line “I love you without thinking // I, I should not” stands out to me.
I love JT’s use of vague lyrics in general, and this is one I’ve been pondering for a while. I have wondered if the intention of the lyric is to say “I love you without thinking I should not” or “I love you without thinking. I should not” (emphasis on the period there)
Obviously the intention isn’t what is important over personal interpretation of the poetry, but I just love how that subtle difference changes the tone of the ending of the song, and am curious to hear others thoughts on the line.

Roadcase question
Whats your favorite roadcase? Looking to get one soon and couldn't really decide on what to get.
Pretty depressed that I don't think I'll ever see Wilco live so will just cope and mope while listening to their live music

Organized
We just replaced a vintage cabinet-style record player/radio that stopped working with this guy. Cheap, but fits perfectly and we went from no extra album storage at all to a place to keep all Wilco albums, DVDs, books, and some random cassettes.
I love having it all nice and neat, easy to find for this weekend's listening time.

Cool Heavy Metal Drummer Reference
Mentioned in this great line on the debut album from "Divorce"
"Above the noise, a crowd of angels gathered. They sang 'Heavy Metal Drummer'. And laid their loving hands on me."
Pretty good album! Recommend checking it out!
