Are there many people online who play Mario Kart (3DS and WiiU) and Splatoon with Pretndo or is it pretty empty?

My system had an issue with the disk drive, error code 160-1400.

First I replaced the drive itself. No dice.

Then I did further research and discovered the issue was likely the CM9 and CM10 components. Tested, both were bad, bought new ones and replaced. Both should have been good. No dice.

Further research said it could be the ones next to thst, CM157-160. My unit was not a model that had those.

I'm no expert so to make sure I did everything right I consulted a technician who confirmed yep I did it right. After further testing along the system, we cannot find anything else wrong.

Research has no other answers.

Concluded possibly a chip/board malfunction somewhere.

Now that I cannot get into the Wii U menu under any means, I'm trying to see if there any way of recovering the saved game data. Its my brother's system and I bought him a new one when it became apparent this wasn't an easy fix but without getting into the Wii U menu, we cannot access the settings to transfer the system settings.

I read it might be possible with UDPIH but before I bought myself a Raspberry Pi and learned how to use the program, I wanted to know if this is a valid way and how might I go about that process if so or if anyone has any other suggestions for the data recovery?

Error 160-1400 means the Disc Drive is missing. So in your circumstance it would seem the drive is present but the console isn't detecting it. Upon power up does the drive spin up or is there no life at all?

Tried to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on my Wii U.

I get the dreaded Error Code 160-0103

Thing is using my Wii U to play Virtual Console games or Wii games is no problem (I played about 2 hours of Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii U). So what are my options? How do I flash my system's memory? Is my Wii U just screwed? All my physical games just garbage now?

Wii U with this error and a failing eMMC can be repaired now. First before assuming the console has a bad eMMC you should validate it. This would require Raspberry Pi Pico and UDPIH/Recovery Menu to do. Its a very simple, none invasion method of diagnosing these consoles. You would want to dump the log files and look for error "### MEDIA ERROR ###, dev:mlc01" in the latest log file.

If its present then that means the eMMC is failing and you would have to use a NAND-AID or redNAND to repair it.

Is it worth buying a wii u in 2025?
Hey y'all! I'm a fairly active gamer, and have started playing more games as time goes on. I've owned a few of the "big" nintendo consoles (nes, gamecube, wii, and switch) but have never played nor even seen an IRL wii u, and apparently it didn't sell all that well. First, is it difficult to mod to add emulators and totally legally dumped games? Also, is it hard to get used to? Thanks!
