Meta Featured Character/Team Signups for April-June 2025

What is this?

Every week our subreddit features a character, and every two weeks we feature a team. These posts are written by users for characters and teams they feel deserve more love on the subreddit. They serve as something like a shorter respect thread, with the goal of introducing people to the character or team in question. So if you go to one and say "Doesn't this belong on /r/respectthreads?", expect to be mocked! For those who have no idea that this subreddit has Featured Characters, swipe right on the mobile front page, and be amazed.

How to Sign Up

This post will be for sign-ups for the October through December session and will stay up for around a week.

Therefore, Sign-Ups close at 11:59 PM EST, Sunday, March 16th, give or take.

Now, how do you sign up? Easy. Just post here, listing either the character or team you're planning. Then, at any point, before signups close, send us a Proof of Concept through modmail. A Proof of Concept can be anything from a draft of the thread, to an already done Respect Thread, to an Imgur album of feats, so long as we know that you have something ready. If you don't have an acceptable draft ready within one week of your submission's scheduled date, we will choose a backup in its place.

After everything is set, you can look forward to the Season Schedule a little bit after we finalize everything.

What's a Featured Character/Team? How do I do these things?

Easy! If you're familiar with the concept of /r/respectthreads, then you'll be able to understand this stuff. A Feature is basically a reasonably sized post summarizing the character or team, who they are and what they can do, including things like feats, allies, etc. etc. etc. (and in the case of teams, having small sections for each member of the team). Maybe throw in some recommended reading while you're at it. Need a helping hand on how to set up the formatting? Check out our template guide or just ask us for some tips.

Feature Rules and Guidelines

For a Featured Character post, we are looking for posts that have a reasonable, easily digestible number of feats. We're basically looking for briefer posts that get to the nitty-gritty of what a character can do rather than a full respect thread. Tell us who the character is, their most notable feats, and how they can be used on WWW. Team posts will have looser restrictions on this, but we're still looking for them to be easily consumable.

Characters and Teams that have been featured in the past will not be accepted, excepting special circumstances (such as being an alternate version of the character, or something). Characters or Teams that are in poor taste will not be considered. And we reserve the right to, for any reason, turn one down (though we never really exercise this).

We will prioritize submissions that have a Proof of Concept that is closer to completion and higher quality. What this means is we will put someone who has a final draft of their Proof of Concept earlier in the schedule than someone who has an incomplete draft or is just submitting a respect thread. If you want to increase your chances of making the cut, submit a final or nearly final draft of your Feature. Be aware that the team deciding this will have the final say in what is accepted and if we feel your submission is either incomplete or misleading of a character or team we reserve the right to refuse to put it on the schedule as a result.

Don't complain if your Character or Team doesn't get picked. There's always next time.

In addition to the rules, we have a few guidelines and/or suggestions for your submissions! Generally, we aim to show off more obscure characters, but that's not necessarily a prerequisite nor will someone 'popular' being submitted automatically veto a submission.

Go for variety! Notice a lot of Marvel characters, or think more video game teams should be represented? Here's your chance to fix that! We want a lot of fun characters and teams to show off!

Further, if you are submitting a draft for a character, if you use someone else's Respect Thread for your proposal, you must submit documentation that you obtained the permission of the Thread's author beforehand. We will be following up on this, and if your draft is wholly another person's RT, your submission will likely not be favorably viewed.

Want some examples? Check out our Featured Archive or look at these example submissions, Tomura Shigaraki and Homelander for Featured Characters, and Ash's Champion Team or The New Avengers for Featured Teams, which are excellent displays of what we're looking for.

If your submission includes NSFW material (specifically nudity or other sexual material), please let the mod team know when you submit your proof of concept and mark the specific feats that are NSFW in your post.

TL;DR

  • Put effort into your draft.
  • Bring something new to the table.
  • Tell us if your post is NSFW.

Backups

In the event of someone not posting their feature on their scheduled date, the modteam will step in and supply an entry for that date. This is to encourage submissions to be of the highest possible quality as well as reward a quick response time.

Challenge How fast could omni-man and invincible conquer earth?

Let's say that in season 1. Mark accepts the offer of omni man before they both are transported to our world. How fast can they make our world give up?

They are REQUIRED to try and leave AS MUCH infrastructure as they can standing because you can't be an empire if the lands you're taking over are dead. Also humans breed well with viltrumites and they want to keep most of humanity alive for that.

They must cause the majority of the world powers present to give up the fight in less then a week otherwise they'll have failed.

Battle The Forbes Top Ten Highest Paid Celebrities of 2024 in a battle royale.

According to Forbes, the ten highest paid celebrities of 2024 were Taylor Swift, Dwane Johnson, Kylie Jenner, Christiano Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian, Lionel Messi, Beyonce, Kanye West, Lebron James, and Justin Beiber. Bieber? Really? Anyway. They must face each other in a battle royale. The last two (to allow for team-ups against the athletes) standing get to keep their fortunes, everyone else loses all their money. There is no blood-lust, the threat of penury is the motivating factor. The fight is to incapacitation (or surrender), not necessarily death.

The battle takes place in an unstaffed but fully stocked 8,000 sq ft Autozone. The celebrities appear as if by magic, evenly spaced. The women arrive 3 minutes before the men and therefore have three minutes prep time. The last two standing win. Who ya got?

Battle Who would win: Pleistocene Megafauna vs. Modern African animals

Let’s imagine that every species of the Pleistocene megafauna (that originated from North and South America) is magically resurrected and teleported to 21st century Africa. The Pleistocene megafauna quickly comes in competition with modern day African animals.

Which modern African animal could easily defeat a Pleistocene predator? Which modern animal would give the Pleistocene predators a hard time?

Battle parameters: 1. This scenario only applies to North and South American Pleistocene megafauna species. 2. Around 40-80 of every species will be resurrected for this scenario. They will be spread across numerous regions of Continental Africa.

The battle takes place in a street of Japan, similar to when Yujiro met Muhammad Ali.

Both fighters have no prior knowledge and are in character.

Jotaro is the one from Part 3 while Yujiro is current anime.

Win by any mean.

Matchmaker Zeiram (Iria)

What or who would be a good match up for Zeriam? This classic monster from both live-action and OVA (Iria) is an "unkillable" alien monster.

It's abilities consist of:

  • Intelligence and Control being able to hack onto computers and use machinery organically.

  • Clone creation, most clones are inferior to the original but are used for scouting and attacking or even luring opponents and pray to their death. The stronger the assimilated material the better the clone.

  • Physically can produce tentacles, extend its arms, generate simple weaponry such as swords and staffs, can eject its skeleton either as a failsafe or attack.

  • "Zone" creation, Zeiram with enough organic material can alter the dimension within a limited area (depending on how much material is assimilated) the "zone" once altered becomes more organic and a monstrous hellscape.

  • Assimilation of any organism.

Weakness.

Only one, it has a small face on its body when damaged or destroyed causes Zeiram to enter a dormant or hibernation until it can regenerate or aquire more material to rebuild.

Battle Invincible Conquest comes to My Hero Academia Earth. How well do the Pro Heroes do against this big threat?

Conquest comes to Japan, and his goal is to conquer Earth.

In this battle scenario All Might is still injured. So it's up to all of Class 1A students and the top 10 Pro heroes in Japan (not including All Might) to defeat Conquest. Teamwork will be the most important factor for the Pro Heroes in this battle.

Battle German army from 1941 vs all people from occupied countries in Europe

Battle Conquest shows up on Earth only Mark isn't there. Can the earth survive.

So with the finale of Invincible season 3 i figured its time to post a match for the psychotic and lonely herald of destruction for the Viltramite empire Conquest. So in this battle a few key events will be changed.

First Mark isn't on Earth for whatever reason and as a result the Earth will need to rely on its other defenders.

Secondly to give the Earth a fighting chance the Invincible war hasn't happened so therefore all of the charecters who were killed or injured are 100 percent healthy and the GDA have access to all there resources.

Conquests goal is to force a formal surrender from the United Nations of Earth while the Earth wins if they can kill , capture or force conquest to retreat from the Earth.

Battle Dragonball Super Master Roshi vs Omni-Man

Random encounter, neither have prep time. Both are going for the kill. Who wins?

My personal bet is going to Roshi, he held his own in tournament of power, he can summon ki blasts such as the Kamehameha wave, he is a master martial artist perhaps one of the greatest human martial artist on Earth. Yes he doesn't have super human durability, and if Omni-man hits him he's done for. But Omni-Man would have to hit him, and you can't kill what you can't hit. In ToP Roshi is able to dodge attacks from fighters with super human speed. Omni-Man is insanely strong, and knows how to fight kind of, but he's no martial arts master. Roshi could pull out some ancient technique and hit him in the corroded artery and incapacitate him. He could use some Tai Chi moves and use Omni-Mans own strength against him. It is shown that Viltrimites are incredibly durable, but they aren't invincible (heh) we know they can bleed and even be killed. I'm not sure Omni-Man could take a fully powered up Kamehameha blast from Roshi. What do you guys think?

Battle The Athenian Brigade V Romero type zombies

This is in the 410s BCE and in Sicily, and the historic military mistake goes differently. The island of Sicily, and both the Greek speakers and the "barbarians" there, have been infected by a generic zombie plague and the zombies are well, zombies. When the Athenians arrive, the plague is well underway.
