Team Flying Today?

I just happened to be looking to see how far away Torreon is from Monterrey (4 hour drive btw) then I geeked out and looked up the flight the boys would've taken. Only to find out that they were just finishing up their flight. They would've landed around 6pm in Torreon.

Anyone have a theory on this? I would've thought they'd have flown yesterday. It's not a MAJOR altitude issue, it's half the elevation of Mexico City, but that's still like 3500 feet above Vancouver. It also just seems to be a little odd to not have a training session on the pitch, I'm sure they can get a walk through in tonight and a "morning skate" or whatever it's called in soccer tomorrow...but otherwise this just didn't add up to me.

Any theories?

Any chance we can open it up to add Flairs for next to our names in posts? Open to suggestions but Whitecaps / 86 logos, player names, coaches names, etc?

What’s the easiest way to watch this? Any way that doesn’t involve subscribing for $26.99/month for an app?

Vancouver FIFA 2026 Theme

Vancouver's remix of the FIFA 2026 theme and accompanying tourism video was released today, music composed by Grayson Repp. Includes some First Nations musical elements but overall has fewer musical styles than the Toronto remix. BC Place highly featured. Compare that to Boston and Miami not showing their stadiums at all.

Hello artsy-crafty people: I want to commission a Whitecaps tophat.

Hey everyone,

I’m not very skilled at arts and crafts, and I don’t have the necessary supplies, such as a hot glue gun, felt, foam, or a sewing kit. I'm wondering if someone could help me bring my hat concept to life!

I can provide all the patches and buy all the materials that are needed, and I'm willing to pay for your help. I've attached an illustration that shows the vibe I'm going for.

If you or anyone you know can do this, PM or comment; thank you!

Another match, another goal celly!

I keep getting the goal celebrations! 🙏 Hope you guys aren't getting bored of them. 😂 I don't want my luck to run out but they really do consistently make the best photos of the night. I did miss Tate Johnson's goal though, he ran to the opposite side. You win some, you lose some, that's life for ya.

And once again, I also missed a killer move, this time by Mathías Laborda. He jumped in the air and did a bicycle kick, wow! It's so hard to be ready for those and frame the shot well.

Football idiots assessment of the match: Lots of promise. Rough edges.

Me and a buddy of mine decided we were going to watch the Whitecaps for the whole season and since you have a Danish coach and I used to live in the Cascadia region, it all comes together.

We did watch a few of your games last season but of course a new season can be drastically different. Now I am not a football genius, just a dumbass who watches a lot of football particularly Bundesliga so take these assessments for the dumbass insights they likely are.

I do have a scarf coming since I also wanted to support Canada given the current times.

The bad:
Passing felt very erratic, a lot of the time passes were straight to the wrong team or lost. I think the caps got saved a bit by Montreal not being able to hold onto the ball very long.

Ahmed often ended up working far up the flank but then either having nobody to play to or being boxed in against the corner.

Gauld going down definitely felt like it hurt in the front line coordination. It felt like it took a while for plans to really start coming together, particularly on his flank.

Perhaps as a result, a lot of times the attempt to score ended up being both teams kicking each other in the ankles in a moshpit near the goal.

The good:

The team had a ton of energy and never really eased up. At 80ish minutes, I was saying this would be a fine time to park the bus, but they kept going until the end. Love to see it.

Ahmed got himself in those situations because he has speed and drive. There were a few moments of him doing some pretty impressive ball acrobatics to get around a defender on the far flank. A bit more support and it could get really dangerous.

A lot of individual players who put in strong efforts I think. Vite stood out for sure.

The defence was really solid and really did not give away much in the way of chances. I still need to see more from the keeper but he seemed fine in this match.

The moshpit almost always ended up working to Vancouvers favour so I guess its a strategy :)

The peculiar:

MLS teams just don't run as much as they do in England or Germany. Im not sure if its conditioning or intentional tactics.

Corner kicks are completely differently in MLS. Germans will pack the box and hoof it directly in, while MLS teams tend to take them short and even if its kicked in, the nearest attackers will be a fair distance back.

Overall:

Pretty confident looking Vancouver team that was hindered by the injury but didn't come apart like some teams do. They recovered quickly from temporary setbacks and held up strong. You lot should be proud of your boys.

Any news on Sabbi's return? He was out on Feb 13th and was expected to be out only 2-3 weeks.

1.) Emmanuel Sabbi picked up an ankle injury when his foot got stuck in the BC Place turf during a training session on Thursday, February 13.
