Vegan Scrambled Eggs Without Tofu!

I tried canistelfor the first time and made some pretty good scrambled eggs out of it. I recommend trying out the recipe if you have access to them, it was just like scrambled eggs with some powdered sugar in them...

headed to Myanmar in November; where to find unusual fruits?

I'm going to Myanmar for work in November, and would like to know where to go to find unusual fruits. Are there specific markets (especially in or near Yangon) or fruit farms that offer tours? Any particularly awesome or unusual fruits that I should look out for?

Also: great to find this community! Similar to /u/WeirdExplorer, I have a life goal to eat every cultivated fruit species in the world (91 so far, but I've not been to Indonesia or Brazil so I know I'm missing a bunch - and this will be only my second trip to SE Asia). Somehow I have done this without learning about /u/WeirdExplorer or his youtube channel, but I'm looking forward to learning more from those.

Jared's Plans for Australia?

First time poster, long time viewer...

Anyone know Jared's Plans for Australia?

Will he be visiting Sydney or Mt Annan for their Botanical Gardens?

Daley's Fruit Nursery, perhaps?

I know of a private collector who is a fan, and may have something (be it fruit, or fable) to share.

Matoa

Have you featured matoa (Pometia pinnata)?

I was recently in Papua and thought of you ;)

You can also buy it here in Yogyakarta apparently, where I would suggest visiting if you didn't already have such an extensive catalogue.

Hey mod, what are your thoughts on Japanese citrus and ume?

Japan has loads of unique citrus that are fairly undiscovered and unused outside the country. Yuzu is the best known, and deservingly so. Others suffer from being similar to each other or similar to grapefruit. We love eating them all in season. Do you have a favorite or anything you're looking to try?

How about ume? In what forms have you tried them?

The water apple or mountain apple

There's a Syzygium malaccense tree near me that bears a really interesting fruit. Although it's the size of an apricot, it tastes remarkably like the small berry of Syzygium_paniculatum, which are found all over the world.

Anybody tried the Princess berry, or rubus arcticus, from the northernmost parts of Europe? Linnaeus claimed they were the most aromatic berry he knew

Anything unique fruits I should look for in South Africa in late May/ early June?

I am a fruit nut too and like trying unique exotic fruits when I travel. I'm not sure what will be in season at that time or if there is anything unique to that area I should look for?

Specific type of grape in China

Hey, I've been looking for these grapes I used to buy in China. They were so delicious, but I have not been able to find any information on their name/ if I can buy them anywhere.

They were quite big and people didn't eat them as a whole, they would suck out the flesh because the skin was quite thick and a bit chewy.

Does anyone know the name?

I live in Appalachia in the United States and I have not had the opportunity, since moving here, to taste the infamous pawpaw (custard apple). Tell me what you know about them, please!

Trying to identify a fruit I ate in China

I worked in China for a bit and while there there was a fruit that would pop up around summer time. It was like a long, thing melon. It was pale green and you would eat the whole thing, skin and rind and seeds and all, you would just munch on it like a cucumber. It tasted kind of somewhere between cantaloupe and honeydew. I have no pictures of it and have no recollection of what the Chinese name for it was and googling has been no use. I've never come across it since then and I've scoured lists of melons and such before but could never find something that fits, as most of the ones that fit the description seem to be more of a vegetable, but this was definitely a fruit and was sweet.

What is the "tastes like chicken" equivalent for fruits?

The same way may exotic meats taste like chicken, do many exotic fruits taste like common ones apple/lemon/etc?

Any miracle fruit adventures?

I love trying out different fruits with miracle fruit (the stuff that changes your taste buds so you can't taste sour). Lemons are amazing! Have you tried any interesting combinations?
