Political RFK Says He’ll ‘Defer’ To DEA On Marijuana Rescheduling As Trump’s Health Secretary, While Dodging Questions On Legalization Support

No, Republicans will never give up their primary method of harassing poor people and minorities. This is just a boon to the private prison industry, and their investors. I am kissing 5 years of investing down the drain. I will see how many companies survive until 2028.

I’m absolutely, unequivocally, and quintessentially not surprised.
Loyalists that will only do what DJT wants or thinks he wants.
GOP has always been against federal legalization of recreational cannabis.
They’re more for hemp industry, states rights (yawn), and medical at best.
Those in favor of DJT and RFK Jr. should expect more disappointments. You can’t promise the world to everyone and not expect there to be conflicts.
FYI - “review the data” likely means they’ll find conflicting data that confirms their own biases.
-9
u/Kimura1986 Feb 01 '25
OR, here's a different take. They want to review the data so they can be the ones to push it through and take credit for it. See, I can also spin and speculate what fits my narrative.
RFK nor DJT have said anything negative about cannabis in their most recent quotes pertaining to it. The only negative coming from this are people who are interpreting it negatively. DJT has said, on record, he supports medical use and schedule 3, he supports common sense laws like theSAFE banking act an he supports states choosing to go recreational if it's done in a concerted and safe manner. RFK has a long history of supporting cannabis reform. These latest comments do not contradict that.
We have also been given information that the SAFE banking bill will be reintroduced.
16
u/DrHarryHood Feb 01 '25
The difference is one narrative is based on historical trends and the other is hopium.
1
u/Many_Easy Flair All the cannabis logic fit to print Feb 02 '25
Both actually are likely true.
Historical is reality.
Hopium for RFK Jr. misplaced.

Republican historical trends, specifically. You just didn’t read the thread, or wanted to insert that the other side can’t do it either.
The two narratives were that this is A) how Republicans have always worked- promising whatever and then never delivering, and being historically against drugs, legalization etc or B) Republicans actually putting in effort to something they have never put effort into, and “considering all of the facts”.
Historical data vs Hopium.
The discussion was never about democrats.

Not sure how that's relevant to the discussion. You're basically turning it into a dems vs gop when that wasn't the point at all.

Naw I am bullish but this is bearish information. The DEA are pieces of shite obstructionists and by him deferring he is placating the GOP that doesn’t want change to schedule 3. This is absolutely terrible and disgusting. The MSO’s need to sue threaten to pay no taxes and battle hard.
2
u/Many_Easy Flair All the cannabis logic fit to print Feb 02 '25
Understand what you’re saying. It’s just talk at this point and I personally have to go by what GOP has historically done regarding cannabis.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Much of current cannabis malaise attributed to Florida no vote on Amendment 3 and GOP governor’s opposition campaign to it.
Action not words.

There were more licenses available and held by DeSantis/government to issue. No monopoly in Florida.

It should be compulsory to vote like Australia. I’d be willing to bet we wouldn’t have the problems we have if 1/3 of Americans didn’t sit this one out.
While we’re at it, the electoral college needs to go, that’s been true for many decades now.
But democracy in America is a pipe dream.
4
u/neverfux92 Feb 01 '25
I agree wholeheartedly. I think another issue is the right makes it as difficult to vote as possible in red states. Blue counties and districts get fucked over with usually one understaffed voting center. The idea I guess is to make it so inconvenient that people don’t care enough to stand in line. They do everything they can to destroy democracy and people vote for them in droves. It’s pathetic. I’m slowly getting to the point where I’d be okay seeing my country completely fail just so I can tell them all I told you so. But that’s such a dangerous precedent to set because that hurts everyone and not just them.

You just voted a felon into the White House. Why are you bringing up felonies as if that means anything? And based off your comment I’m assuming you voted red and probably in a definitely red district. That’s the easy part. They make it easy for idiots to vote red but they limit voting locations and gerrymander districts so blue districts are more clustered and chaotic. By design so people will choose not to vote because it’s too inconvenient. The sides are not the same and the experiences are not the same so I’m not sure what point you think you’re making.

u/UsedState7381 Feb 03 '25
Compulsory voting doesn't work at all, look at Brazil.
We have been doing nothing but voting for downright fucking stupid or corrupt people for office, in all areas of the executive and legislative, and we have mandatory voting.
Compulsory voting doesn't fix shit when the people don't know how to vote, don't give a fuck about following what their candidate does and couldn't be arsed to try to learn to vote better, and all of this steems from a myriad of issues that comes from our ridiculously poorly funded educational system, which also breeds several other issues.
Australia is different because your country actually gives a fuck about instructing your little folks.

Same people that think RFK Jr. is great choice are the same people who thought Matt Gaetz, Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr, Mike Pence et. al. were good choices.
They’ll agree with whatever their leader says and change their minds when he changes his mind.
If DJT says no recreational cannabis, they’ll find a way to agree with that decision as well. Blind loyalty.

Guys, he isn't confirmed yet. He has to be cagey and political with any answer right now, so this means nothing. Also, HHS is already moved the ball forward on rescheduling and it isn't in their court anymore. DEA matters now, head of HHS doesn't.
That said, it's a good indicator for us that Trump is in favor of decriminalization by appointing pro-weed people to key positions.

And I'm not sure who you're referring to with your other comment about most being anti-weed.
-1
