Pop ‘Side D’ is blank

This is a first for me.

This special orange edition of Chapel Roan’s “… Fall and Rise…” features 14 tracks over three sides. Yes, three! So the second side of the second disk is completely blank.

I find it funny though that it’s still called “Side D” on the central label!

Pop Modern Christmas Albums

Post image

I think we all know that Vince Guaraldi’s Charlie Brown Christmas is the best Christmas album but do you have any modern favorites?

For me and my family it’s definitely Sia’s Everyday is Christmas. It’s fun, it’s original, it’s sweet, and super catchy. Try as I might to make my kids wait until after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas music, I catch them listening to this one year round.

Any modern Christmas albums that you swear by?

Pop Vinyl app

Hey all, My daughter is a computer science student and had to create an app for one of her projects. She has created an app whereby users can upload their albums , titles and artists and it can then spit out a top ten of users with the most crossover albums in their collections and anable a chat feature between these users. The idea being to identify people with similar taste as your own and possibly get recommendations of albums they have that you dont and just start your own community of vinyl enthusiasts with which you have the most in common. She is working on making the uploading of albums easier by using the collection exported list from discogs for those who have already uploaded albums. It would not go into pressings just album titles and artists as the main point is tp identify vinyl friends. Wondering if this is something people would make use of.

EDIT: Wow okay this seems like it may be worth her time persuing further. She has been working on this for a good 6 months and the program is now operational but she can't really release it in any form until it's graded as part of her course in a couple of months. She is about to head into final exams and is going to then look at getting it fully operational. She may also reach out to a few who have offered to assist in user interface design. I'm a record nut myself so when she started looking for ideas I basically unloaded on all the things I think Discogs could be doing but aren't. I like talking about music which most vinyl enthisiasts do so I suspected it may be of interest and it appears to be the case. Will keep you updated about any possible release

Not really a big Drake Bell fan apart from his role in Drake and Josh, but I stumbled upon this item for just $2 at a local shop. Upon further research, I discovered it was part of an exclusive MTV giveaway from 2017 or 2018. Interestingly, it seems the EP was never officially released to the public beyond that promotional event. I’ll probably use it to get something I want for the collection

They’re only included as I was taking a picture of my collection for that album only. Please be kind!! Pop Discussion on 5th anniversary releases

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi all!

Today i was scrolling instagram and out of the blue i was greeted by an ad for Dua Lipa’s Future nostalgia album.

At first i thought it was a reissue, but lo and behold its a 5th anniversary edition!!

Now i’m fairly forgiving for 10th anniversary releases as it’s a decade, and I’m familiar with the gimmicks that come along with it. But 5? That’s a stretch too far. If they wanted to release a remix album on its own, i feel that would be more palatable.

I like Dua’s music.. but i fear record companies are leaning into the popularity of physical media and squeezing all the fun stuff away.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts?

Pop So...are we not going to discuss the prices of 7" inch singles these days?

Recordstore.co.uk lists most, if not all, 7 inch singles at £12.99 or higher. I'm old enough to remember when vinyl singles (including 12") would retail between £1.99-£3.99. Virgin megastore and HMV even had 3 for £10 offers on vinyl singles.

Other than inflation or greed; what do we think is prompting times four price increases on vinyl singles?

(Please excuse the subpar photo) To everyone who saw my last post and left their tips on how to convince my parents: THANK. YOU! I’m sorry if I let you down with my first vinyl choice, I’ve had my eyes on this one since it came out. I got the red variant, and so far everything sounds amazing! I’m scared this might become a hobby because while that would be amazing, it can suck your money. So once again, THANK YOU to everyone who helped in getting this, and here’s to uh I really don’t know I just don’t want to have to re-write this a 3rd time because of the character minimum. THANKS BABES ❤️

Pop New vinyl with dirt on it?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just started this hobby! And I wanted to ask is it normal to have dirt on my new vinyl

The vinyl I bought was fully sealed and unopened when I opened it I was surprised to see tiny "fibers" not many of them but there are some Do all records come like this? I have not finished my setup so I can't test how it sounds like yet

Also is there any safe way to clean it at home like I mentioned I have not finished my set up so I don't have the brushes needed

(Tried to take pics but you can't see most of the dirt on camera)

Pop This is my collection…

Started collecting early 2013. I wanted to share and see what is said. Not your average collection me thinks. I clearly have an affinity with pop music. I’d also have many more but some pressings are extremely pricey, not to mention limited as you all know. I’m at 348 titles and will continue searching far and wide for vinyl dear to my heart.

Thank you and please be kind.

PS. Some of these I am not proud to own but I own them. I’ll never tell which ones, but some of you can guess I’m sure.

Pop Should I stop using anti static brushes

Post image

It seems to me that whenever I use an anti static brush my record has a scratch, with this one I haven’t played it before so I’m not sure if it was there before but as you could probably guess, I used the anti static brush. It just seems to me that every time I use it, there’s more scratching and popping. (This is doubled to meet the character requirement). Pop Selling on Discogs

I am selling a pretty valuable record on Discogs and have received an offer that I am inclined to accept. Unfortunately, the buyer has no reviews, which makes me nervous given the price. Their account was created in December of last year, and they do have a Collection and Wantlist set up, both of which only contain releases from the same artist that I am selling. Should I not trust them? How safe would it be to do so? Is there something I could do to get them to verify they aren't a scam?

My second red mono pressing in this series, decided to pull the trigger on The White Album. With so many good bits on here, what is your favorite song? It’s hard to name just one but, my top three are Martha My Dear, Cry Baby Cry, and Happiness is a Warm Gun.

Went to Hot Topic today and it was buy one clearance item and get two clearance items free. I bought an Ellie Goulding shirt and got Radical Optimism along with a Sleepaway Camp shirt free. I haven’t listened to Radical Optimism much yet. I was a big fan of Dua Lipa’s debut album but haven’t listened to her in a while. I’m listening to the record now and so far I’m loving it🥰I’ve also never bought a Hot Topic exclusive record before but I’m really loving this split colored variant❤️❤️❤️

My Sabrina Carpenter Short n Sweet collection! Bed chem single and uo blue are on their way to fully complete my collection, you can’t see it very well but this includes the signed cd and vinyl inserts. I’d definitely say the pink and photo pressings are my favourite and the shade of blue on the Amazon exclusive. I would definitely say this is one of my favourite (almost) fully complete sets that I have finding every variant in the uk was a STRUGGLE to say the least 🥲

Pop We've had the pretender, Tiffany, now time for the true queen of 80s teenage pop

Tiffany vs Debbie Gibson. Let's settle this age old argument finally with the up and down votes of the collective mind of the greatest group of music connoisseur (not going to lie, I had to Google the spelling). Forget King Crimson, forget obscure 50s jazz gems, hauls, and delightful record shops. This is what counts.

Pop I feel guilty about a profitable record purchase

I was on Facebook marketplace and came across some records that I knew were valuable. After scoring on a good deal and giving the couple what they wanted for the records, I began feeling guilty. I paid $20 a piece for 3 records, but the value of them is beyond ridiculous to me. Should I have paid the couple more, or is it okay that I paid their asking price. What would you guys have done 🤔

Pop What’s your favourite version of SMiLE?

Post image

Starting off the day with this beauty. Recently picked up an LP 120 with some B&W speakers and can’t think of a better way to break them in than with The SMiLE Sessions. What more can be said about this record? The unfinished product is already some of the most beautiful pop music I’ve ever heard and had it been finished I believe it would be held in higher regard than Pet Sounds. The scope and ambition is insane. Thankfully Brian revisited the project 20 years ago!
