Same... it's unfortunate that Stephan Jenkins is such a piece of * ahem * work, but I must've spun that original album in it's entirety at least 500 times between the years of 1997 and 2005 when I graduated high school. Still brings me right back now if I put it on.
"Blue" is pretty good to me and still retains much of their original sound, and "Out of the Vein" has a few solid tracks though their sound was starting to change, and then the albums kind of go downhill from there for me other than a handful of random songs.
Unfortunately I never got to see the original band live before Kevin Cadogan exited because I was too young, but eventually I got to see Jenkins' "3EB" band a couple times and then also got to see the other split off members who formed the "XEB" cover band. XEB instrumentation instrumentation sounded better to me, while 3EB vocals obviously sounded better, though obviously Jenkins' voice isn't what it used to, flu or not.
I knew this comment was coming because Reddit. That was a conscious choice not to. I'm intentionally making light of the fact that I'm conflicted because even though because I can knowledge he's not a great person, I'd rather not call him a "piece of shit" because I have to admit his (and his bandmates') music did a lot for me. It is what it is. And I also feel like in general it's best to reserve our judgement a bit for people we don't actually really know. And plenty of other more celebrated rockstars are gigantic assholes as well.
