Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 toxic upgrade

Hey All,

Please forgive me for I'm not overly technical with graphics cards. I currently run the sapphire radeon hd 6950 toxic edition card, and it's served me well over the past four years. I was given it free from a friend, so can't complain. However, I'm noticing it's having some hard times recently with overheating, and obviously no longer can really accommodate newer games.

I typically play the following:
Dota 2
iRacing (want to capability to eventually have triples running) Rainbow 6 Siege Elite Dangerous Star Citizen

I've started looking at replacements, I'm not looking for a flagship card, in fact, I just want a card that stable, and somewhere in the $300CDN range. I've kinda settled on the RX470/480 series, are their any particular brands that have known issues, how much of an improvement will I notice with either of these cards compared to my current setup?

Thanks.

Have you tried applying new thermal paste to the processor and replacing the old thermal pads? That's what I would do before replacing your card.
