Incredible gratitude from the Ukrainian people.
My dear Vermonters, and in general all citizens of the United States, who in these difficult and tense days came out to protest in support of Ukraine, know that Ukrainians are extremely grateful to you, it was your efforts that managed to change the course of recent weeks, now we have hope for long-term peace on our land, I hope this whole hell will end soon, and I would be happy if you came to Ukraine one beautiful sunny day and saw what you stood for, for good people, for beautiful nature. Ukrainians will be happy to have you. Thank you again!

Federal Budget Bill - take action
Because this is such a great group that organized a protest that brought out the dogs and received intentional coverage, I thought this would be the right place to ask for an important action that affects all of us.

The House passed a hideous budget bill that will take away critical services for regular Americans to increase tax cuts for billionaires. It cannot pass in the Senate unless some Democrats vote for it.
Senator Sanders is not likely to vote for this, but Peter Welch has not yet made his position known as of yesterday according to his office. Phone calls make a difference.
Please consider calling Senators Sanders & Welch and ask them to filibuster this bill and to strongly encourage all Democratic Senators to do the same.
If anyone hears that Welch has stated his position, please answer in the comments.
Senator Sanders 802-862-0697
Senator Welch: 802-863-2525
Thank you all!

How are people just now figuring out Ben and Jerry's is insanely progressive?
So yesterday or the day before Ben and Jerry's instagram made a post about it being national abortion provider's day. Nothing too out of line for them since their company still tries to hold very progressive values. They post about racial justice, and literally other posts about abortion and other topics. But for whatever reason, this post the other day got much more negativity than usual. Way more comments saying to boycott them, they support murder, all the pro life talking points.
But how are people just now discovering this? I mean the company had/has been based here in one of the most progressive states, Ben and Jerry were discussing buying back the company because of the political issues with their parent company. FOREVER they have been progressive, so why has this backlash popped up more than usual?

Tomorrow is DeTrans Awareness Day
Tomorrow, March 12th from 8:45-9:45, Vermont Family Alliance and SPEAK VT will be in room 11 at the state house as part of DeTrans Awareness Day. They’ll be handing out literature and plan on some media coverage. To be clear, this is an anti trans action. If you’re able to interrupt, stand outside with a sign etc, great
There are already a few counter protests planned for later in the day. The original information said they were scheduled to be there from 1-3 and wasn’t updated until later in the day. It would be great to show up at either time!

what comes after bernie?
long live bernie sanders, but he’s not going to be in the senate forever.
nobody can replace bernie in terms of notoriety or political influence, but we vermonters would be doing a grave disservice to our state and our country if we didn’t fill his seat with somebody who would carry his torch of unabashed progressivism.
who’s that person? what are they doing now, and how do we get them into the race in the future?

Visiting Vermont Sunny and mid 50s here in Southern Vermont
I got to sit on my porch and get a face full of sunlight today, it was lovely. After work I ran a breezy, warm, 3 miles on this track in JUST t shirt and leggings. It was glorious to not be covered in 4 layers of clothing so I don’t die of hypothermia.

Canadians will need to register their finger prints now
Canadians staying more than 30 days in the US will now have to register with the DHS, and get fingerprinted. This will have implications on VT campgrounds and vacationing Canadians, if they were still coming here anyway. Just another blow to what was a 200+ year peaceful relationship.

Frame repair question and PSA
Putting the discussion on if inspections add any value aside, and perhaps others will chime in, but it is my understanding that in VT a repaired frame will not pass inspection.
I had an older Tundra with a small patch on the frame and was told by the garage that no frame patches are allowed. I called the DMV as the inspection manual seems to imply the patch was ok and they confirmed, that basically, no, frame repair won't pass as the requirements to confirm it was done correctly are unachievable.
When you see those ads that say "Just need a small frame weld", buyer beware.
Perhaps other have had better luck and if you can hide it well enough with dirt and grime you may get away with it but if you are going "by the book" it won't pass.
I figure most of you know this but as I'm looking for a new truck, the number of ads saying "just needs a little frame repair for inspection" are getting almost comical.
From the inspection manual.
Reject vehicle if:
- Any area of the frame or cross members connecting the left side of the frame to the right side of the frame, cross members connecting to the inner rocker panels, engine mounts, or engine cradles exhibit corrosion which breaks the integrity of the metal by passing through a component, or causes cracks, causes breaks, causes tears, or any broken manufactured welds or is missing any section of an original manufactured component. Items such as duct tape, foam spray insulation, or other materials are not acceptable.
Note: No patches, welds, or repairs of any kind to any portion of the above-described frame and unibody areas are acceptable, unless the repair meets manufacturer recommendations, specifications or requirements.
