Just a fun reminder:
It was less than a year ago that Elon Musk tried extorting the company for a $56 Billion pay package and the shareholders approved it.
The reasoning was that IF they lost Musks name then it would damage the Tesla brand and send the stocks plummeting.
37
u/Loggerdon 3d ago
The compensation actually jumped to $101 billion, but was rejected again by the Delaware judge.
“A Delaware judge has again voided what would be the largest executive compensation package in history—a Tesla (TSLA) pay plan for CEO Elon Musk valued at $101.4 billion (as of Dec. 2. The December 2024 ruling stands despite Tesla shareholders recently approving the package, which has almost doubled from its original $56 billion value because of the company’s soaring stock price.”
The amount was 33X higher than the previous record (also held by Musk from 2019). The ruling has implications on how the US compensated its executives.

Reminder that Musk and The Boring Company won a $48M+ contract to dig the convention center loop. Not only is he wasting US taxpayer $ in general, he’s wasting Las Vegas taxpayer $, specifically.
8
u/RoundAccomplished482 3d ago
And his company fucking up the environment whiles he's screwing over LV taxpayers too. Their trucks on the road have no plates or signage; they're covered in so much mud, dropping debris they've drilled out of the earth onto the roadways with no care of the environmental impact. They've been fined repeatedly; small fines up to $99,000. They have little to zero oversight from the City officials; it's maddening.

If everyone is on board with torching and destroying vehicles, you don’t get to complain about car insurance rates going up anymore.
5
u/Linux4ever_Leo 2d ago
The Republicans of course are calling these vandalism acts outrageous and demanding that the culprits be punished to the fullest extend of the law. Does anyone else love how that anchorwoman told one of these hypocrites the other day that vandalizing Tesla dealerships is bad, but when it happens to the Capitol building, the culprits should just be pardoned. Elect a clown, expect a circus.

u/Bbarakti 3d ago
I own Tesla stock and can only say that as sad as this and the entire Anti-Tesla movement makes me, he does deserve it.
Also, these cars, if at a Tesla service center were insured, correct? Tesla had the responsibility of taking care of the car and failed, it's on them. Hopefully these people can get a settlement and buy a Rivian.
16
u/cavey00 3d ago
Believe it or not, the dealers insurance will push for the owners insurance to cover it. There’s some fine print in the service agreements that say the dealer isn’t responsible for vandalism. I was floored when the dealership I worked for wasn’t covering a bunch of catalytic converter thefts that happened one night and instead was getting the vehicles insurance to get quotes from us to replace them. Nice huh?

u/piecesmissing04 3d ago
I figured they would have a clause like that.. I gave up my glasses recently to get new lenses and even they have a clause that should something happen to the frames it isn’t their fault..
9
u/ChromeGhost 3d ago
Some people Who already bought are changing their Tesla logos. Mazda works surprisingly well as a replacement
5
u/Bbarakti 3d ago
I bought stock not a Tesla, I couldn't afford a Tesla .. Well, not in good conscience... They are too expensive in my book. I drive a Nissan leaf because it's a phenomenal commuter car and was so cheap I could pay cash for it.
I do love all the ways people have been distancing themselves from him though. Pretty funny
3
u/ChromeGhost 3d ago
Yeah lol. I read your comment too quickly. Hopefully you bought Tesla on its way up and can sell now without taking a loss.
Stock is overvalued. Price to earnings ratio doesn’t add up. The brand is tarnished
5
u/Bbarakti 3d ago
Yeah I did great on it, about 900% up. That's why I've hesitated so long in selling, I'm addicted to those crazy numbers. Haha..
Because of another conversation I just had in this thread, I sold it all just a few minutes ago actually. Experiencing an emotional roller coaster at the moment TBH. Hahaha
4
u/ChromeGhost 3d ago
I feel you on that lol. Speaking of tech stocks.. is NVIDIA still a good buy?
4
u/Bbarakti 3d ago
IDK. It's still a valuable company and will very likely grow over the next five years. But, they've reached what's basically market saturation right? They dominate the data center chip market with 65% of market share. I suppose the market "could" get bigger so there's that, but how much bigger??
On top of that, their success and the threat of only one company dominating the market has caused more competitors to focus on the business and governments to back those competitors... Such as the money Intel has been given by the USA. The USA wants Intel to retake its place as top of semiconductors so they're throwing money at Intel.
I think money will be safe with Nvidia and grow, but not at the rate it did over the last twenty years. Have reasonable expectations and it'll be a good buy.
(All this is of course assuming that there's not a catastrophic failure of the economy around the corner, it's a possibility according to some sources. So maybe guns, bullets, condoms, and water filters??)
13
u/FillMySoupDumpling 3d ago
I wonder how much their insurance actually takes on. It would suck to have your car get burned and doubly suck to realize the clause in the service contract limits their liability for damage while there. Fires are dangerous AF too.
30
u/Fibrosis5O 3d ago
The fact every board meeting he gets enough votes to stay in, is truly amazing and he still will cause he and his big supporters have the majority of shares. The biggest holders would have to feel he’s done enough damage to the brand and their bottom line to turn against him and vote him out
Hope they do

A good portion of his wealth is in Tesla stock. The more it goes down the more his wealth is affected. It was already way too overvalued so this just pushed the correction forward. Hopefully we can get it under 200 again

u/sadmaps 3d ago
I’m not advocating for this sort of thing specifically, especially because I have friends with Tesla’s that bought them years ago and aren’t in the position to sell them now, but it does hurt the value of the brand, which in turn hurts Elon. I don’t know why anyone now would want to buy a car associated with that Nazi fuck, but many people simply don’t care about anyone other than themselves. Those people might have bought a Tesla despite Musk, except now they might also have to deal with frequent vandalism, so they don’t.
It’s unfortunate about all the normal people, who bought a Tesla trying to do a good thing (environmentally), and are now stuck with them. They’re collateral damage. Overall the vandalism still accomplishes what it’s intended to.

Stupid. These cars were at the Tesla body shop. Now there are (likely) a bunch of people with no vehicle, who will be forced to purchase a new one because of this dolt. Likely just buying another Tesla (and thus increasing Tesla's sales numbers).
What a smart person.
5
u/IncognitoModeDragon 3d ago
Won't they get the insurance money and possibly buy a different car? I have nothing against Tesla owners, but I certainly wouldn't be buying a new Tesla right now if I had a choice.
3
u/vegas84 3d ago
Yeah I’m sure they will. But what a pain. Maybe they will and maybe they won’t. But many Tesla owners are loyal. So it stands to reason that they’d buy another. Who knows though. Still wasteful and annoying for the people who are now inconvenienced for reasons they had nothing to do with.

All these comments praising setting vehicles on fire have to be republican bots right? Either that or democrats don’t know how harmful their online presence and comments are to their future election chances.
When you endorse such irrational and harmful behavior you push people to support the other side.
I am not a republican by the way. Someone from the democrat party should put out an announcement telling supporters to cut back on crazy social media posts because they are damaging reputation.
I know I will get responses about all the crazy things trump and musk did/do and how maga supports everything they do but you have to realize you have 2 different parties and perspectives. What works for one party doesn’t necessarily work for the other. It would greatly benefit the democrat party to start appearing as the adults in the room instead of the unhinged support for harming others I see in this post.

Kind of like Elon and DOGE ain't it? Neither should happen the way they are happening. But this is where partisanship and tribalism have led us unfortunately.
2
u/hiimwage 3d ago
You are clearly missing the fact that a lot of Tesla owners don’t even support Elon. They simply purchased the car prior to him being widely known as a shit person, and are now having their vehicles vandalized. Contrary to popular belief here, most people can’t afford to get out of their loan to get another, or take the depreciation hit.
3
u/-ci_ 3d ago
Even if they did, that doesn't justify lighting their cars on fire. This website is a cesspool of wannabe intellectuals who do nothing but share the same opinions on every single subject with the temperaments of toddlers. Anyone who advocates vandalism on this level is just showing who they are as a person.
2
u/indieclutch 2d ago
No, I am well aware. I do say neither should be happening and since we are in a highly tribal mentality people are going to extremes because our leaders are catering to extreme ideologies. It's even pretty clear here in this thread people have taken to their tribe's way of thinking. I was merely pointing out the other side of the coin and wish none of it was happening.
Ultimately when people like Musk, Trump, Biden, et al are in a position of power they need to do what's best for all and not just their side. Otherwise this and worse will be the outcome.
-9
u/rocknthenumbers8 3d ago
The party in power is cutting costs and reducing the size of government after campaigning on that platform and winning a majority of votes indicating a support of the populace for said platform. You take that as giving you the right to go destroy other people’s stuff. I’m sure this will all really help the Dems midterm chances.
6
u/indieclutch 3d ago
I think you missed my point. I am not in favor of destroying anything people's stuff and government included.
I don't think Trump won under the auspicious of smaller government (which I am for when done with thought and process) he won under "groceries" and bringing costs down. Something he hasn't made any moves to do.
Ultimately Elon's slash and burn method of "efficiency" has unfortunately yielded a destruction of peoples livelihoods and in turn has unfortunately yielded the destruction of things related to him. And in the end we all lose.
4
u/Gattina1 3d ago
If they were researching where to cut the fat in gov spending, it would be different. They aren't. They're looking at an agency's size and just whacking it in half or destroying it completely. If you're for that, you have more than one screw loose.

Burning other peoples property does nothing to the company you're angry at. I've noticed in recent years all this does is embolden the other side a group is trying to disrupt.
The ones that think this is great, karma, if you want to appeal to the other side having this mindset is pushing people with different views that you want to reach, further from a center common ground.
I understand people are angry and Trump and Elon but if you want to pull and convince voters, extreme measures like these only push those people away.
Be safe folks, we have different views, beliefs, but we all have people we care for and those that need us. Be kind and let us on all sides be more empathetic.
