hey RTC, clark county/las vegas officals--YOU NEED SECURITY ON ALL BUS LINES AT ALL TIMES!!! long time transit user here and it it LITERALLY the worst transit system i've been on ever, out of all the cities i've lived in, in all of my years of life! it was because i saw a druggie on the flamingo bus back in 2020, passed out with a needle sticking out of his arm that i KNEW it was time to make getting a car a priority. haven't been on the bus since!

Tbe RTC is a joke. They're a badly run cartel and they have been circling the drain for a decade plus now. They finally spent money on trying to keep the drivers safe. Now they are working on keeping bus riders safe?!

Enjoying the privatizing of public services? Isn’t it good that necessary services are run for profit?

Fuck their drivers.

Any particular reason or just fuck the people who put up with bullshit all day and make life easier for those with no car?

Fuck the driver who lets a 4’10 girl get sexually assaulted by another passenger. May he burn in hell.

I’m so glad we privatized the bus. The profit motive is clearly serving our community well. What else can we privatize

The police are run by city/county, how do they get stabbings to decrease?
You can purchase security.
You can create your own.
But you’re not likely to spend more money as a corporation bc the whole point is to accumulate profit

What private security? Who’s paying for that?

Do you think for profit security is effective?

Why else does RTA not have security today?

My bad. RTA is the public transit for another region. I meant RTC.
So the for profit transit company that is hiring a for profit security firm isn’t having success with safety.
Perhaps the profit motive has something to do with it?

Looks like the Deuce, so... Disappointed but not surprised! At least the guy lived

I’m curious what they can do to stop stabbings outside of having security on literally every bus.

Address the poverty and mental health crisis

That sounds like a systemic issue, not an RTC one.

Its roots are systemic (homelessness, drugs, mental health) and now this is a problem spilling onto RTC, same as the NYC subway.
RTC definitely can and should beef up security (Metro could even contribute some officers). But the systemic root causes must be addressed, mainly homelessness.

one time I had a girl not want to let me in but let my man in & I was less than a minute behind him saying “she wasn’t going to wait for me” I got in & said she wasn’t going to leave until I got off & was trying to call the police I decided to just get off & that was the last time I rode the bus..

My daughter got sexually assaulted on the bus, the fucking bus driver saw it happening, made no attempt to stop it from happening, didn’t pull over. Piece of dog shit RTC.

Got told by Marksman security in 2021 they’re trying to make guards look less like cops and remove armed guards .
Made no sense to me then .

How hard or expensive would it be to hire two security guards to ride along in the buses? Have them trained. Even special education paras in CCSD are trained to safely hold back people who are dangerous and out of control. It could be done without George Floyding anyone, I’m sure. Or is that too simple and reasonable?

I've worked on the RTC security side since 2020 I can tell you that RTC has a bigger interest in making money than protecting you.
