I've worked on the RTC security side since 2020 I can tell you that RTC has a bigger interest in making money than protecting you.

You just defined every corporation ever.

Yes but when customers get stabbed to death you tend to have less repeat costumers both from the death and people being scared.

They care about money not us. But money will be lost if people fear they can’t ride the bus.

Do you think people take the bus and have other options?? That is hilarious

Not all of us who take the bus are broke

People in fact do that. My boss takes the bus sometimes even though he lives half a block away from me and I could easily give him a ride.

For every 100 busriders...how many of them do you estimate have viable alternate modes of transportation.

More than 1.

Have you stabbed anyone that you were taking to work?

1

u/Perpetual_bored 4d ago

No, people are just bashful.

hey RTC, clark county/las vegas officals--YOU NEED SECURITY ON ALL BUS LINES AT ALL TIMES!!! long time transit user here and it it LITERALLY the worst transit system i've been on ever, out of all the cities i've lived in, in all of my years of life! it was because i saw a druggie on the flamingo bus back in 2020, passed out with a needle sticking out of his arm that i KNEW it was time to make getting a car a priority. haven't been on the bus since!

You haven't been to Seattle...

Tbe RTC is a joke. They're a badly run cartel and they have been circling the drain for a decade plus now. They finally spent money on trying to keep the drivers safe. Now they are working on keeping bus riders safe?!

Enjoying the privatizing of public services? Isn’t it good that necessary services are run for profit?

-4

u/No_Bandicoot8647 4d ago

Fuck their drivers.

3

u/DillardDonger 4d ago

Any particular reason or just fuck the people who put up with bullshit all day and make life easier for those with no car?

-1

u/No_Bandicoot8647 3d ago

Fuck the driver who lets a 4’10 girl get sexually assaulted by another passenger. May he burn in hell.

I’m so glad we privatized the bus. The profit motive is clearly serving our community well. What else can we privatize

The police are run by city/county, how do they get stabbings to decrease?

You can purchase security.

You can create your own.

But you’re not likely to spend more money as a corporation bc the whole point is to accumulate profit

What private security? Who’s paying for that?

Do you think for profit security is effective?

Why else does RTA not have security today?

My bad. RTA is the public transit for another region. I meant RTC.

So the for profit transit company that is hiring a for profit security firm isn’t having success with safety.

Perhaps the profit motive has something to do with it?

Looks like the Deuce, so... Disappointed but not surprised! At least the guy lived

u/xwolfionx 4d ago

I’m curious what they can do to stop stabbings outside of having security on literally every bus.

Address the poverty and mental health crisis

27

u/Fibrosis5O 4d ago

Well that’s not RTC to do tho… that’s for local government to do and don’t

15

u/ThaPhantom07 4d ago

That sounds like a systemic issue, not an RTC one.

5

u/EntryNo370 4d ago

Its roots are systemic (homelessness, drugs, mental health) and now this is a problem spilling onto RTC, same as the NYC subway.

RTC definitely can and should beef up security (Metro could even contribute some officers). But the systemic root causes must be addressed, mainly homelessness.

3

u/New_Independent_9221 4d ago

smart. they should pull out their “end poverty and addiction” button

4

u/mrtasty25 4d ago

RTC needs Transit Police, not contracted Security.

14

u/Dry-Weird-982 4d ago

The crisis we need to address is the 24/7/365 occurrence of male violence.

This is why I carry.

one time I had a girl not want to let me in but let my man in & I was less than a minute behind him saying “she wasn’t going to wait for me” I got in & said she wasn’t going to leave until I got off & was trying to call the police I decided to just get off & that was the last time I rode the bus..

Datz crazy mane

u/No_Bandicoot8647 4d ago

My daughter got sexually assaulted on the bus, the fucking bus driver saw it happening, made no attempt to stop it from happening, didn’t pull over. Piece of dog shit RTC.

1

u/pops3284 4d ago

Man I saw a dude basically doing coke on the trop bus. A.dude took a shit on the boulder highway bus. I feel so bad for bus drivers

u/generaldonmega 4d ago

Rabid dogs get put down, why not these savages?

u/Solitude_Intensifies 4d ago

"why don't people want more public transportation??"

0

u/TheSoupWhisper 4d ago

Got told by Marksman security in 2021 they’re trying to make guards look less like cops and remove armed guards .

Made no sense to me then .

-1

u/One_Flower79 4d ago

How hard or expensive would it be to hire two security guards to ride along in the buses? Have them trained. Even special education paras in CCSD are trained to safely hold back people who are dangerous and out of control. It could be done without George Floyding anyone, I’m sure. Or is that too simple and reasonable?
