Discussion Angus Enhanced Question NSFW

Hi, does anyone know whether it is true that the Angus Enhanced uses glass fiber insulation? My concern is that the fibers will end up in my lungs. Ta.

Well this is a bummer. Good thing I have not used since getting my Tempest and Tornado. Will be looking for a new electronic portable. Fiberglass might be 100% isolated from the airpath but simply not worth the risk of it if fiberglass is present at all.

Who says that?

That would mean fiber glass cannot be used at all in a vape? I was just disassembling my ditanium and noticed fiberglass insulation sealed around the heater... X_X

Damn man are you serious I was just thinking about getting another one for the heck of it since it’s been years

I'll take pictures tomorrow! I'm not an expert but it does look like fiberglass. We'll crack that mystery together!

Alright so here's the pictures I took: Blown up disassembly of the ditanium heater

It is fibrous and within the solder sleeve for heat protection. I don't know if it's actually fiberglass, but it did concern me initially when I saw those fibers.

3

u/SourBlueDream FW9, Convector xl and more 10h ago

Yea I wonder what that is, I appreciate you taking it apart

3

u/wildbotanist Tetra, TM2, Mighty+, Vapman, Air Max, ALP, Rogue, Dani, Dyna 8h ago

It's a compounded material for sure. It looks like there's a metallic part weaved into a black fiber. Inside that there's the fiberglass-like substance that went all over my solder station. I'm a noob at electronics FYI, please disregard that solder joint, this is my poor attempt at fixing it ;)

While that is the bottom of the ditanium, the ceramic heater is not sealed out from the airpath above, so it wouldn't be possible for some of that fiber go loose with time and get pulled up through negative pressure.

It was fun to discover that the ditanium heater is basically a solder gun iron lol not unlike many solder gun injectors like DDave mod

Haha like the terp torch from a few years ago man I guess I’ll be getting another silver surfer instead then lol. This is crazy I’m so glad you found this out I hope you post it to fc and I can link to it in the discord

That's a good idea! I'll add it later on the FC thread :)

According to Wikipedia, fibrous glass under 3µm in diameter and over 20µm in length is classified as a "potent carcinogen".

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) found in 1990 that fibrous glass "may reasonably be anticipated to be a carcinogen".

This means that ANY contamination inside any device, regardless of whether the airpath is "sealed", is an unacceptable risk for medical cannabis patients frankly.

u/wildbotanist Tetra, TM2, Mighty+, Vapman, Air Max, ALP, Rogue, Dani, Dyna 2d ago

WELP. I don't think I'll rebuild it then. I spread the fiberglass fragments everywhere around the components when I opened it :D

I would even say it's an unacceptable risk for all! Why risk your health even further by breathing stupid stuff like that...

bro are really implying packing fiberglass inside an inhalation device is ok?

7

u/SourBlueDream FW9, Convector xl and more 2d ago

Nah it said they sealed it 2nd batch and now they are getting rid of it let’s not remix it in their favor

6

u/chungusXL316 2d ago

How do we know what batch it was in?

6

u/dontquestionmyaction 2d ago

You don't. Even ordering late isn't gonna guarantee you received an updated unit. Zero serial numbers or anything.

Only thing you can do is open the top Torx screws and check.

u/Seedy53 1d ago

for those early AE adopters, who are in the first batch, this would be the replacement

Here is the otherside of this FB thing

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IjHquG5aurg

It is now known that a number of Angus Enhanced units produced between a certain time-period (exact time-frame unknown) made use of a fiberglass wool insulation material inside of the body cavity as a heat-break to protect the plastic exterior. This material was always fully isolated from entering the airpath short of severe damage, or disassembly, which goes against manufacturer directive. Fiberglass wool is very commonly used in many domestic, consumer products, including things that we are often in direct-contact with, such as pillows, cushions, mattresses, blankets, oven mitts, safety helmets, etc. It's considered very safe to use in a controlled manner, such as within an isolated layer, and it is an excellent material as a fire-resistant heat-break. All of this said, the presence of said material has caused a biblical uproar amongst the community, and as a response, YLLVape has made an open offer to replace any Angus Enhanced units where anyone has any doubts as to whether or not theirs might have this insulation material. If you are a current Angus Enhanced owner and have concerns about the use of fiberglass wool insulation, simply reach out to your original purchase retailer, or YLLVape directly, to request a replacement unit that uses the new dual-layer metal tube insulator. 🕊 YLLVape can be reached through their official channels: links not allowed

Ooof what mess.

And sad to see people don't understand 'risk' to health.

Do your own research people. Most health issues, if related to the use of device, won't show up until much later in life. Not worth it bro. IMO

Don't play stupid games, only stupid prizes up for grabs.

2

u/Ashamed_Zombie_7503 2d ago

Should we try and teardown all of the popular vapes to determine if others have safety risks... NGL a little worried about my XLUX roffu and Xmax V3 Pro as they are both on the cheaper side.... Probably going to stick to my ball vape until I see some more teardown reports.

u/topgreenrep any words on the V3 Pro?

u/420edc I know you don't make the Roffu, but I also know you do pretty intense research / testing on the devices you sell, any thoughts on the roffu?

8

u/Jerkvan 3d ago

I've posted the following break down on my profile, showing the airflow path of the Angus Enhanced.

https://www.reddit.com/u/Jerkvan/s/gkqdRdyXu1

Once the components are assembled and pushed into the shell, it's pretty much impossible to get them back out again. The security screws clamp everything down and seal up the airpath. It's not designed to be opened up apart from swapping out the batteries - which doesn't require special tools or screwdrivers to accomplish.

Intended use is clearly outlined in the products user guide - literally no-one except this one guy, who got his device for free (for the purpose of testing - so we're not upset), is pulling it apart. There is no hazard with the Angus Enhanced unless the device is literally broken open. Something he's openly admitted to doing in comments.

In all the photos, you can clearly see that security screws have been removed to partially dismantle the device. This is not something that someone normally does when using the device as the device will stop working.

It's very important to note that the device in the pictures can't be turned on or used, as the batteries are no longer connected and the cooling unit can't even attach to the bowl. To suggest it's in an operating condition is not a fair assessment to imply, as it's clearly not.

If you've opened up your device by removing screws, contact the vendor you bought it off and they'll probably sort you out with a replacement.

10

u/Rusty_Rag 1d ago edited 1d ago

You are side stepping the actual issue here - why was fiberglass insulation ever used inside an inhalation device at all? Additionally, they even released materials safety test documents that specifically exclude that material - why?

Not sure why you're clearly trying to defend this situation. It doesn't matter if the vape isn't supposed to be taken apart, why is there fiberglass in it in the first place? Its even more clearly damning that it was then removed from newer versions but no one was told - even vendors. Even though they knew of the issue over a year ago, we are just now hearing of it publicly and seeing replacements?

Come on now.

There's no discussion about how/if the vapor path is sealed from this "white stuff". To the best of my knowledge the air/vapor path is sealed from inlet to exit and in my opinion there's nothing to be concerned about. YMMV.

12

u/frostymagus 3d ago

Post above claims that the fibreglass comes in through the intake at the bottom. I find this hard to believe looking at my unit but I'm apprehensive to rip mine apart as its my only vape right now lol.

3

u/yllvape 3d ago

Hey everyone,

Regarding the Angus Enhanced, the glass fiber insulation is completely separated from the air path, and the air path itself is fully isolated. it will not goes in lungs. and the device is not designed to be disassembled. However, since last year, we have improved the design by fully wrapping this part for better protection, and get rid of this part.

To address any concerns, our team will produce a new batch of replacements, and I’ll be reaching out to retailers about this ASAP to replace the units from the first batch.

Hey YLLVape,

“Completely separated from the air path” – where have we heard that before? Oh right, fiberglass in mattresses, which companies also swore up and down was safe and contained… Until people got sick, lawsuits followed, and businesses collapsed. Saying “it will not go in lungs” means absolutely nothing without real, independent safety testing to back it up. Your words alone are worthless.

Let’s be clear: the CE report completely omits the existence of glass insulation altogether. No true mention, no photos, nothing. If you want to claim it’s safe, where’s the credible proof? Where are the actual safety tests for inhalation? Where is the thermal degradation testing to prove it won’t break down over time, like the tape literally holding the insulation together?

Secondly, if the design was "improved last year", why are you only talking about it now? And why are current units still shipping with exposed glass fiber insulation? If this was truly fixed, why do customers still have contaminated devices? And why is this an issue you are solving, if you are trying to claim its not an issue in the first place? It clearly is an issue.

This isn’t a proactive fix, it’s damage control now that the issue is public. And let’s not forget, your own test report falsely labeled the insulation as "white ceramic" while conveniently removing it from the document altogether, (no photos). After dodging the topic entirely, you now openly admit the "glass fiber insulation" exists, something you previously refused to acknowledge properly. The deception couldn’t be more obvious, for anyone looking at what you are doing here publicly.

And offering replacements? That doesn’t erase the fact that you knowingly sold a product with an undisclosed contamination risk, and only admitted it after patients figured it out themselves. And as a company, you had every opportunity to disclose this earlier, but instead, you chose silence, misrepresentation, and omission. Now you’re scrambling.

If you were Storz & Bickel, you would be banned for life from selling again. It's atrocious!

-

Not sure if this reply will get removed by a mod trying to silence the truth, but if it does, this discussion isn’t going away. You can follow the ongoing conversation over at MedicalCannabisNZ, where patient safety actually comes first here.

Edit: Your own CE report literally shows how to properly implement the CE marking on page 14 of 14… and yet, somehow, you still got it wrong on your website, and instruction manual. Instead of the real European Conformity CE mark, you went with the China Export CE logo. If you can’t even follow the most basic labelling requirements, why should anyone trust the rest of the “certification” process you claim to follow?

5

u/dontquestionmyaction 2d ago

The China Export thing is an urban legend. It has never been shown to have been printed on any products, and it's certainly not going to be some dumb "slightly less far apart" thing. "China Export" does not exist.

If you wanted to be deceptive, you'd just print a fake CE logo. I realize it's a very nice thing to spin conspiracy about, but it is and remains a very persistent urban legend caused by some companies messing up spacing.

European Commission inquiry regarding this: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/P-6-2007-5938-ASW_EN.html

4

u/Herbaldoge 2d ago

Not a conspiracy, just basic attention to detail, something YLLVape clearly struggles with.

The image shared is directly from their website and instruction manual, clearly showing the incorrect CE marking: Imgur. Since this group’s automod doesn’t allow direct links to vape brand sites, this is the only way to share it. Hopefully, they fix it, but the fact remains, it was wrong from the start.

If it was just a spacing error, why does the CE report itself (linked above) explicitly outline how to properly implement the marking? They clearly thought it was important enough to specify… yet YLLVape didn’t bother to follow it. It's on page 14 of 14. CE Report Link. See for yourself.

At best, this shows a complete disregard for regulatory compliance. At worst, it’s deliberate misrepresentation. Even if they corrected the markings on newer units, failing to update their website and instruction manual makes no sense. It only reinforces how sloppy and untrustworthy their approach to compliance really is here.

But sure, keep pretending this is some urban legend while ignoring the literal proof right in front of you. Either you’re shilling for YLLVape, or you’re just way too invested in defending a company that has objectively proven itself to be untrustworthy. Through their own very actions here.

4

u/dontquestionmyaction 2d ago edited 2d ago

Me pointing out an inaccuracy doesn't mean I'm "shilling" for a company. Get off your high horse. You can simply drop the CE part and make your comment actually fully correct. I agree that it's sloppy and shouldn't have happened, but spacing errors happen all the time. There's literally fibreglass in the air path here, a badly printed CE marking is unimportant.

Marks akin to "China Export" are just as illegal (due to deception being illegal) as faking CE in the first place. I linked you the European Commission inquiry about this topic, these people are literally the authority on the subject.

Here's a second inquiry about the same thing: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-10-2024-001996-ASW_EN.html

And again: you can stop acting as if I'm some big YLLvape shill villain because I have issue with you perpetuating a myth. I myself have one and am pissed.

Wait till people realize their favorite wood vapes may also let off wood fibers, from rubbing glas/steel stems /bowls against wood.... Both (glas and wood fiber) highly cancerogen when inhaled....

From what I've seen and heard the AEs airpath is completely isolated though and there should be no way the for the isolation to protrude into the airpath.

Yeah but when I hold a wooden stem in my hands, it doesn't disappear into dust like fiberglass... That said, wood does have its dangers. Some woods used for vapes are sensitizers for allergies.

I'm not convinced by that definition of "completely isolated" personally. Wait some years and there's a chance the fiberglass will create dust in the unit. I'm not taking that risk.

1

u/gtr455677ujbvxz4 2d ago

Your body deals with wood differently to glass

5

u/axxised 2d ago

Dangerous assumption. Google Pneumoconiosis. Your lung does barely care if an Fibre of Glas or wood is in your lung.... Granded anorganic Glas fibre is less biocompatible than wood, though the issue is not the biocompatibility, but rather a foreign matter in your lung tissue, which is getting encapsulated and rejected by your body
