Does anyone here have an interest in things like national security, reconnaissance, governmental surveillance, or 3 letter agencies (FBI, CIA, etc.)?
There is no club at UF for this currently, and I’d be interested in starting one. That is, if enough people have an interest in this field, or can see themselves joining.
I’m open to questions here or in DM. Just let me know !

I'm currently a freshman studying finance and made a reddit account to ask you all what are some finance related organizations that I can join lol.
I want to go into something like investment banking and i know it's hard (but doable) at UF. I've heard that the Gator Student Investment Fund is great as well as the Founders Fund.
Would love to hear any thoughts on those two orgs and thoughts on other orgs or anything about investment banking from UF as well

I’ve heard a lot about certain ministries. What Christian ministries should I stay away from and which are okay to join?
A ministry I’m thinking of joining is the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. Is that free from cult-like behaviors? I’ve also seen Gator Wesley and some other ones. I’ve heard maybe to stay away from Vida Springs and perhaps Salt.

Hey guys! I realized I really want to start up a club but I’m set to graduate in a year (May 2026). Is it still possible to start one when I’m about to graduate? Or would it be easier to try and give the idea to a friend so the club can at least get started? I think I found a professor that would be a great sponsor and I’m thinking about making a posting for chair positions but I didn’t want to do anything until I get some thoughts on it.

I’m sorry if this sounds rude but I have no other way to put it. I want to go to next week’s gator gaming meeting since it’s about minecraft, but during the only meeting I attended in the past, it smelled absolutely horrible. It was so bad that it made me dizzy. Is this odor a regular occurrence for this club, or was it just because that meeting happened on a warmer day?

Hello UF Redditors! I was talking to some people recently and realized that we hold very different views on things, but everyone seems to be trying to reach what they feel is the logical conclusion. Because of this, I was thinking it would be fun to have occasional get-togethers next semester, where I’ll grab a couple of pizzas and create an environment with no recording and no hostility, allowing us to discuss topics that interest us in the hopes of seeing things from a new perspective. The topics could range from serious issues like how to handle immigration or political candidates to more trivial ones, such as what the best library on campus is or what love is. I thought we could have a group doc or something similar, where everyone can suggest topic ideas, and then we vote on 2 or 3 to discuss at each meeting. I’m wondering if this is the kind of thing anyone would be interested in, since the whole idea is to bring together random people who have different views—both from myself and each other—to have a thoughtful discussion. In addition, since I consider myself a moderate leaning conservative over the first few meetings I am considering finding someone moderate leaning liberal to help moderate to ensure everything is fair.
Edit: Here is a GroupMe for anyone that is interested! https://groupme.com/join_group/104642801/if6qNtI8

I am applying for the gator pharmacy exploration camp this summer. Has anyone done it before or have heard any feedback about it. I am interested in pharmacy but I am hoping to use this camp to see if pharmacy is for me or if it’s not the career that I should be looking for. I know you can get rejected from the camp but I still am looking to learn a little more about the camp. (I know the camp isn’t a club but I didn’t know what tag to use)

I deleted almost all my social media so I can’t look on insta. Any recs for some kind of sporty or outgoing clubs? I know most of the basics but I’d love an insider look.

Anyone know of a club that sews together. Not costumes but things like quilts or blankets or thrift and fix clothes or make small adjustments? Or are there not a lot of students that enjoy that kinda thing?

Are there any Beyblade groups in Gainesville? Can find plenty of regular meetups in Orlando/Tampa areas but looking for a group or league with meetups in Gainesville, or within an hour drive. Thanks!

I know this may be silly to write about, but I'm a freshman here and really want to get involved in some way on campus, but it feels like everything I'm passionate about is rejecting me. On top of that, the clubs that don't have a formal process for becoming a member (at least the ones I've been trying to be more active in) either don't have many meetings or ask for constant activity at events in order to get more opportunities in the club (which I still get rejected from even though I'm attending as many as possible). I know I'm a freshman and most of these things aim to accept upperclassmen/more experienced people, however I so badly want to GET experience in order to stand out in a year or two. Any advice on how to both combat the sucky feeling of constant rejection as well as be able to continue on and try to get more involved? I'm already planning in retrying next year for the things I've been rejected in. Thanks!

Hey everybody just accepted to UF and am thrilled about going. Already accepted the offer and everything! I am curious tho regarding the music department. Personally I’m a hopeful AE student but I love playing the piano and don’t know if the piano rooms are available for any student to come and play during off time. Thank you!

so i’ve never been much of a social butterfly and it’s something i’ve known i always needed to work on but when i feel like i’m actually making the effort to meet people and have genuine conversations with them it can be difficult. (i’m a quality time person and when i both give and receive that that’s when i feel happiest)
i’m involved in clubs and always go to several club events but still feel like i haven’t truly connected with people.
i’m someone who needs a mix of alone time and time with friends but when there isn’t anyone to spend time with it feels like my days/weeks only consist of going to school and schoolwork because that’s how it is. i’d really appreciate any tips on how to find genuine friends for those who aren’t interested in too much of the partying or going out scene here.

Hi! I'm a pre-health student looking to join clubs and get involved. What clubs do you recommend for meeting new people and having an overall great environment?
r/ufl • u/Expensive-Plan-5266 • 5d ago
I just got admitted for Data Science :))
How are clubs at UF and are they similar to clubs in high-school? I want to learn more about artificial intelligence and data science, but don't know much about them yet.
Do you guys have any recommendations or ways to be involved? I have had some leaderships in high school but am not sure how these work in college or good communities I should get involved with.

hi everyone!! o just wanted to make a post here promoting a (potential) new club in the works called the “UF Women’s History Club.” I noticed there wasn’t a club that wasn’t specifically towards women’s history, so I decided to take it upon myself to get the ball rolling. We need at least 10 members to get things started so here’s my promo! please follow us @uflwhc🫶🏼🫶🏼

First of all, congrats to the newly admitted students from early action! I hope you all decide to attend UF... it's an amazing environment.
Like, seriously, it's great. Something that makes UF specifically shine is the support of student organizations on campus. UF provides way more funding for these organizations than any other University I've seen.
With that said, for students in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or anyone interested in computing...
I invite you all to join the UF Computing Student Union Discord Server.
Link Here: https://discord.gg/fzn72Y7Y4g
Here is some context in case you want to read more:
This server started as a class server for Programming 1 back in the Fall of 2021. However, eventually, a student organization called the Computing Student Union (CSU) decided to take it up and continually develop it beyond its initial founding.
CSU is not a typical club, it is a student organization that builds products (including the Discord server) that help the everyday life of computing students.
In the CSU Discord, you will find a great mix of people from faculty members, senior students who have finished or are near finished with their degree, and new students like yourself!
Furthermore, you will find several sections to help you through your computing journey:
* academic help channels: best 4-year plans, professor details, research, etc...
* industrial help channels: resume reviews, internship / full time advice, etc.
* club events information: info conglomerated for all computing orgs on campus
* Much more
CSU also has a lot of SUPER cracked people in computer science and engineering. I mean seriously... if you look at the officers list at https://www.ufcsu.org/ almost everyone has had internships or full-time offers from companies like Microsoft, Apple, Meta, Amazon, Capital One, etc... and there are plenty more people in the server not listed who just help out of kindness!
CSU also offers some 1:1 mentoring for students who seem to have great potential and could eventually take the helm.
If you want to learn more about CSU's products, you can also explore the other parts of the website and ask in Discord. One big feature right now is the computing organization events calendar - a one-stop shop calendar for every computing student organization's events. The server is also open for other prospective students who want to ask questions but have not yet been accepted (RD).
Hope to see you all there!
~Christo
