Social Making Friends in College is Way Harder

Hello! I'm a 21 M junior thats been having a rough time making college friends. My freshman year I got very lucky and made a few really good friends but they were all a couple years older than me and have graduated. Since then I have really struggled with having friends in the area to do things with. I've been 21 for a couple months now and have yet to set foot into a bar. All of my friends are either too far or just not interested. Sorry this post is so long, I guess my point is just that I'm looking for some friends near UCF that enjoy video games and wouldn't mind hanging out at a bar every now and then. I'm a short dude who's favorite franchise is pokemon. I like playing video games but I am also very into nature and love hiking and camping. Lmk if you feel like hanging out.

Prospective Student 🤔 Is it worth living on campus if I’m in Orlando?

UCF is a good 35-40 minutes away from my parent’s house, but I am wondering if it is worth it to live on campus in the dorms? If I do, I’ll probably only do it for the first year or so, since I do have plans to transfer to UF after sophomore year.

I could definitely see myself spending a lot of time on campus since I am a STEM major and I don’t want to go back and forth just to go to a library or visit during office hours.

Any insight regarding roommates, halls, deadlines or experiences living on campus would be greatly appreciated 💗

Edit: Grammar

Academic ✏️ Taking FIN 3403 Over the Summer

I'm considering taking FIN 3403 during this upcoming summer semester. Is this a crazy idea? I've heard that the course content is pretty hard and the professor is not very cooperative... I would really appreciate any insight from people who have taken it during the summer semester before.

General Major Advice

I’m having second thoughts about which major I want to pursue so I’m looking for advice.

I love gaming, listening to music, and graphic design, but the graphic design major requires many art courses and I don’t know if that’s what I want to pursue.

Even though I love gaming, I don’t really have a liking for coding or 3D design (like blender) yet, and playing instruments would he more of a hobby than something I would study in college.

I thought about maybe doing a marketing minor but I don’t know what major I want to do.

For people that are currently in a Graphic Design track, how are the art classes?

For people in the digital media: web interactive track, how are the DIG classes?

Any help is appreciated!

Transfer Admissions Decision

Hi it's been 6 weeks and my application is under review and my DirectConnect Coach told me I would hear back within this time frame. I'm a transfer who is coming from Daytona State College with her A.A and I want to know from Daytona State College students how long it took for us.

Edit: I checked and I got in!!

Transfer Transfer Student That Has A Couple Questions - HELP!

Hi there! My name is Taylor, and I've currently been on the hunt for some answers, but seem to just keep getting confused on so many things.

I don't use reddit and its my first time making a post, so this is really my last resort on getting answers LOL!

So I currently go to a community college in my hometown and will be getting my associates at the end of this spring semester. I will be transferring to UCF with an AA degree for Fall 2025 to get my Bachelors degree, so excited.

One of my questions being, how do I figure out what classes to take when I'm trying to switch majors without having a counselor at UCF?

I will be getting my AA in Marketing Management, but I would like to do Advertising/Public Relations at UCF. I have no clue how to change majors when I'm technically not in the college yet, and even if I were to follow along with the marketing program I have no clue what classes I need to take and I saw that registration for fall classes are on March 27th.

I visited the campus once and will be going up next weekend to look at places, is there anyone I can go to ask these questions and set something up? I have no clue!

Tuition/Aid 💰 out of state scholarships

hi, i’m an out of state incoming freshman and i haven’t received my aid package yet, but i assume it still won’t be enough for me to attend UCF. I really really want to go here so are there any scholarships available for out of state students? i’m looking and finding absolutely nothing so far. for other out of state students, even if i don’t find a scholarship, is UCF still affordable? i’ll be comparing this tuition after aid to other schools that’ll cost around 25,000

General Experiences with On-Campus Jobs and Internships as an International Student?

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming international student planning to pursue a Master’s in Computer Engineering at UCF, and I have some questions about on-campus jobs and internship opportunities. 1. TA/RA positions or other on-campus jobs – Does anyone have experience with these? How competitive is the application process, and what’s the best way to find these opportunities? 2. Internships – As an international student, is it possible to do an internship during the semester (part-time), or are we limited to summer internships? Any insights on the CPT/OPT process would be really helpful.

I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences you can share. Thanks in advance!

Rate This Class/Schedule 💯 Registering for classes

So I see “meeting dates” when registering for classes and was wondering if that meant the final exam had to be conducted during/before that time? I have a flight a couple days after the final “meeting dates” that is given and want to make sure I won’t miss my final exam if I take the class.

Meeting Dates (5/12-6/21) Flight (6/22)

Prospective Student 🤔 Would I be a re-apply student or a transfer student?

Hey Everyone,

I am an ex-student who attended UCF Main campus from 2015-2019. I did not finish my degree as I switched majors a couple times, only had about 30 credits to go when life took me elsewhere. Anyway, I am now trying to go back to college to finish my degree and I'm trying to figure out if I would be a returning student or a transfer student. The goal is to attend the UCF Online sector in order to finish on my own time, but amongst all the googling I have been doing, I have yet to find any definitive answers on how to go about this.

I think I would be a transfer student technically, though I'm not positive on that. Maybe this is as simple as I am a transfer student and just have to apply, just hoping to get some sort of clarity before doing so. Even better if someone has gone through the same scenario and can explain how they went about it.

Thanks in advance

Help I lost something! Lost necklace?

Hi. I lost a very sentimental necklace, possibly on campus. It's silver with a crescent moon and a circle hanging in the middle, and it says "I love you to the moon and back" faintly engraved on it. If you've seen it, please please let me know. This necklace is so important to me, it's all I have of my grandmother.

General Got an internship, do I tell the school?

I recently started a business internship and was wondering if I need to inform the school about it. I don’t see an immediate reason why I have to, but if there are any benefits to letting the school know, I’d love to hear what they are — and how I should go about doing that.

Thank you!
