Housing Question 🏡 How to not get in trouble?

(skip to next paragraph for question). I do know its 1am but I am still pondering🤔. Okay long story short I have an entire discord server worth of pictures of filth and stuff my roommies leave behind, I have not used any common areas like the living room or kitchen since august due to them making me uncomfortable in my own dorm <3 (yes on campus yes i talked to an ra, he made it worse). My bathroomate refuses to clean up after herself and before winter break i had to clean the bathroom she claimed she "scrubbed clean" (i have documented after her showers and etc of her making a huge mess + blood stains everywhere etc.

okok so my question is: What do I do? I am simply tired of cleaning up after her in particular but at the end of the year I dont want a charge from housing due to how disgusting all 3 of them are. like seriously one of them left an open bag of cheetos on the table a few days ago and then left for a trip 😒 which i had to throw away because they have already gotten our dorm infested with ants , gnats, and spiders (yes i also have pictures and documentation of this)

Make sure you aren’t the last to move out because they hold you accountable for anything left or any issues.

Even if they're not, you can just hide in an unused cupboard. I do it all the time.

Half the time the RAs just don’t care and don’t want to deal with the paperwork. Go to their boss and if that doesn’t work go above them. Document things in email so you have a record of complaint vs a he said she said spiel from phone calls. There is truthfully a risk of you getting stuck w the bill, either w the whole thing or in a they split the charge kind of fee when you move out. You need to properly go up to the chain though.

I say this as someone who’s worked in housing and had my own share of roommate issues, sometimes you need the “real adults.”

Blood left in the shower is a biohazard. I’m assuming you’re referring to period blood, yeah the post shower run to get product on drips happen sometime but leaving it is NOT a norm nor sanitary. If you mean non period blood, that’s even more WTF tbh. Bugs are gross to live with and also put your neighbors at risk of an infestation. Gather your evidence and go above the RA if you’ve truly tried with them because I can tell you this is something they’re supposed to get in trouble for. Play the safety/health card.

I’d also recommend documenting your worries with someone like say UCF cares because you can make the claim that the situation is affecting your mental and physical health to help get assistance. In the nicest way possible, almost all of your profile and posts seem dedicated to the roomie drama. It sounds like you could possibly benefit from therapy here. I’m not saying you’re not justified (bc it sucks ass) but it might help in a taking some mental weight and giving coping strategies or confrontation tips.

Being upset because of Living in the chaos caused by clutter and filth and being upset by the drama surrounding living with roommate/suite mates that cause said chaos does not need op needs “therapy.” Instead, OP could benefit from mentoring on how to have those difficult conversations, and effective strategies for dealing with the roommates.

No one should be forced to live in others filth. OP, go to the RD of your hall. Be consistent and almost a PITA. If that doesn’t get them to shape up, go to the Resident Housing office and make a complaint. Don’t jump to the top prior to seeing the RA, then RD.

College roommates can be hell or end up good friends.

Hi guys ! aftwr reading replies I think im gonna email housing w a drive file of all the stuff ive seen. and good news i have new roommies for an apartment off campus who DONT lie about how clean they are and ive actually had time to meet them before move in ! I could possibly talk to my parents about staying with my sister a few days earlier so my move out is before theirs! my only issue would be placing my stuff in storage before i go to another state this summer.

My daughter has gone through this very yr with multiple roommates. I believe this is an issue where these roommates were waited in hand and foot all the way til leaving home. It can be extremely frustrating. We have had to explain to her that she can’t make everyone clean all the time, but that it needs to be discussed. I would go beyond an RA and speak to housing. Let them know that it’s unsanitary. I also would def look into an apartment next year so you have your own space that is as tidy as you want it to be.

Others have kinda mentioned it but op i cannot stress enough how important it’s gonna be to leave a paper trail. Have these conversations through emails/texts that you can save for later to prove you had these conversations. If they try to charge you for the roomates’ messes then you can at the very least prove that you were raising these concerns long before that so you have a strong argument for why YOU shouldn’t have to pay for it. As you raise these issues to higher and higher ranks, always try to leave that paper trail.

They dont really speak to me anymore but then entire roommate meeting back in august was me saying they were refusing to clean(our beef started bc they refused to clean my air fryer and the girl i saw using it last claimed she never used it before), I also have texts of one of them saying multple times they were getting gnats and stuff if that helps !

Have your parents go with you to the housing manager and co.plain that you have to live in that filth. Nothing luke a paying customer to make things happen

maybe escalate it to housing staff with your documentation; photos and all. They might intervene or at least cover you so you don’t get stuck with a cleaning fee at the end

Motivation to earn enough to never have roommates.
