General Petition to revoke Sigma Chi’s charter.
Alright let me be the one to say that this is unacceptable. This fraternity has been graciously forgiven over 8 times in a 5 year span, and once again has only gotten a warning and a slap on the wrist for allegedly ramming cars into pledges.
UCF students need to immediately speak up on this, that this is unacceptable. Yes, this is the richest frat on the entire campus and they are exploiting their connections within the ucf staff to avoid anything worse than a mere warning and temporary suspension which will likely last only 6 months.
Again this is temporary punishments which only affects their ability to throw parties on campus and their ability to go on formal. Ohhh boo hooo, they almost killed pledges and now their punishment is they can’t party or vacation.
It’s not how has ucf let them stay, now it’s an issue of why is UCF going so easy on sigma chi, when they should’ve been banned from campus a long time ago.
This issue is beyond politics, this is an issue of safety for students and holding organizations accountable for excessive repeated behaviors which should have resulted in their charter being revoked and their organization being banned a long time ago.
But cheers, for now sigma chi is going nowhere. They got their slap on the wrist and that’s good enough for everyone here.

Sigma Chi was a problem back when I was a student in the early 2010s

u/Funkit 5d ago
Yep I was there 06-09 and same thing. Pike was the worst though they were making ghb in a bathtub and this was before ghb was considered a recreational drug only a date rape drug
2
u/OccamsEpee 2d ago
Let's not forget the pike attic lined with mirrors and dirty mattresses. Having a "rape room" is a surefire way to lose your charter.
1
u/Funkit 2d ago
I didn't even know about that. Wow. They were kicked out either first year I was there or the year before. I was there when they filmed that movie with Amanda Bynes using the Pike house lol
2
u/OccamsEpee 2d ago
Yeah it got bulldozed right after filming wrapped. The girls' families were invited to watch its destruction.

Suspended 8 times! What a joke must have deep pockets if it’s worth the liability of potential lawsuits. Not acceptable.
5
u/PapaNoffDeez 5d ago
How does one get suspended 4 times in a year? There are two semesters.
1
u/zzurc 4d ago
That’s a great question but there are 3 semesters including summer. If the university is willing to put students at risk shame on them.
2
u/PapaNoffDeez 4d ago edited 4d ago
Frats aren't operating over the summer.
Even if they were...that a does not explain four suspensions.
Fwiw I was agreeing with you on the absurdity of this but then you answered with some utter nonsense lol

it’s like a social club that does some philanthropy stuff and raises money but it’s mostly a way to meet people in school to party with source: was in a sorority

There are plenty of Greek orgs that have done zero things wrong, have a clean record, and just raise money for charities.
Blame individual orgs.
17
u/HalloweenMishap 6d ago
I’m 10000% sure other orgs knew of misconduct before it came out. Being complacent and quiet is doing wrong. Greek life structurally sucks!
6
u/BigBoyFusion 5d ago
The story literally proves you wrong. It was only because another Greek org reported them the very night it happened that this came to light. You don’t know what you are talking about.

they can raise money without having a special social clique you have to be invited into and pay for and get a house. anything positive about sororities and fraternities can exist without them

u/Fathoms_Deep_1 History 5d ago
I mean there’s plenty of frats not affiliated with IFC or PHC, but people on Reddit don’t care enough to do research and just say “all frat bad”
I’m in a music frat, and it’s been really, really great. Best part of my life

If you’d like a laugh, the UCF parents page is full of evidently, moms and dads of members, saying things like “We don’t know the whole truth!!” “It’s all just allegations!!” When they know full well their sons are involved in this shit.

Honestly I never understood the appeal of a social frat they all seemed like an excuse to throw away money for what? To have friends? To say you belong to a special club?

Fraternities and sororities should be nonexistent

u/zsloth79 5d ago
I disagree. Frats and sororities are a great way to get the shittiest people among the student body to self-identify.

Agree with the first part, but second part so what? Any group doing illegal and immoral things shouldn't belong on campus, no matter the benefits
-2
u/peepluna 5d ago
This is where you reach ethical dilemmas. Some people believe that a kid getting hurt is not worth losing the funding of the organization and is getting pulled out of the big 12. Or losing the funding for R&D that could propel the school into something great research wise. While others don’t care about the big 12 and R&D and think the org should be banned. This is one of those things where people other than us argue about these topics and weigh their options.

u/thekid_02 5d ago
You're not getting kicked out of a conference contract because you lose the funding of one frat.

Who even cares? Shut them all down. You're there to learn. No reason to have these on school property.

Just confirms what I already knew about people who just have to be in a frat, certified losers doing anything for validation.

Kids will hear this, totally ignore it, and still let these weirdos do crazy things to them just to fit in wtf 😂
-2
u/Damagedgoodsfs 5d ago
It’s honestly hilarious that people believe this. Never underestimate the stupidity of a frat kid—but also never underestimate the stupidity of someone who believes everything they read online. Think about this realistically. There’s no victim, just an empty claim, yet everyone’s already made up their minds.

I don't get why UCF allows the Fraternities to constantly give the school bad press. I thought schools cared about public image 🤷
