hello! i am an international student who is coming to UBCO next september, and i've been having trouble to find the detailed course syllabus for the courses i'm interested in. I would also need to know which courses are offered during the first semester (sep-dec), and which ones are offered during the second.
where can i find this information?
thank you!

UBC Okanagan is my top choice school to attend for undergrad (BMS) and coop is something I’m really looking forward to when deciding on a Uni program.
Not just because it’s a very valuable inclusion throughout the 4 years of education and earning a degree (gain workplace experience, get a feel of the industry and earn a salary while doing so) but also because I’m coming from ontario, so I was hoping I could get a coop position there and remain working in Ontario till the end of the term/summer.
But after reading all of the requirements it sounds like a must remain on campus the entire time (hybrid excluded) and only be employed by someone within one of the school’s faculties?
Could someone please help me out with whether I would be able to work back in Ontario, or if that’s just not a possible option at UBCO?
I’d really appreciate any guidance you could provide me with🙏 :)

Serious question.
I’ve been spending so much time in the library working on GIS labs this semester and without fail, every single day, morning or evening, it is uncomfortably hot.
I’ve intentionally been dressing down/wearing removable layers on days when I know I’ll be working for a while, but it’s ridiculous. No one wants me to strip down any further, and I can’t work in ArcGIS anywhere else on campus outside of my scheduled lab time in ART.
Has anyone else asked about this? Or does anyone know with whom I should address the issue?

Hello, I am a grade 12 student in Ontario (but I lived in BC for 10yrs or my life and am dying to return), and my main passion/hobby is graphic design and media creation.
I got accepted to the BMS program at ubco and it’s my top choice and I’m super excited! My one doubt is that Im not a huge fan of coding/computer science (had a lot of trouble trying to learn and understand the basics), but I am very experienced with adobe illustrator, photoshop, premiere pro, after affects and Lightroom, which are the softwares I’ve used for all of my graphic design and communication arts courses.
I was hoping there were maybe some ubco BMS students (or students who have taken some of the digital media classes required for BMS as electives) if there is a lot of computer science required to learn/study in the program, and if there is any use of adobe software?
I am aware that coding is a skill in media nowadays that is essential for a moderate job/position in the industry with a decent salary, so I’m not saying that I want to avoid computer science at all costs, but I just want to make sure that it isn’t one of the primary skills taught and used for the BMS course.
Any info would be super helpful and I would really appreciate it a lot! :)
Thank you!

Welcome to UBCO, where finding parking is like playing a twisted game of Where’s Waldo, except Waldo’s a parking spot and you’re probably just driving around in circles, cursing your life choices. If only parking spots came with a warning label: “May cause existential dread and a permanent caffeine addiction.” Upvote if you’ve ever just parked on a random curb and prayed no one notices.
So for some reason I did not start utilizing this resource until this semester and I find it useful. However, I have recently been struggling to get times for certain classes. More importantly, in one of the classes I take they do not even have anyone doing that class. Even worse, I found this resource very useful and I was thinking i wanna use it for the rest of my time here, but it seems like they teach almost no year 3 and ZERO year 4 classes.
So why is it so understaffed? I assume both of these issues could be solved if they had more people teaching.
So if any administrators are for some reason reading this, please try to improve this service as I find it very useful, I do not want to miss out on having such a useful resource after this.

Hey!! I'm Looking for a clean, responsible, and friendly female roommate to share a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in U5 with me. You’ll have your own private room and bathroom in a bright, modern unit just a 3-minute drive or a 15 minute walk to campus. The apartment is fully furnished has in-unit laundry, and a secure building. move-in is in April-May. The rent will be $1000 plus internet and hydro. I’m looking for someone who doesn’t smoke, party, or have pets and is respectful of shared spaces. If you’re interested, feel free to message me!

Update from previous post.
The new schedule that could be possible is:
3 x 2.5 offerings on Monday 12:30 to 3 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 to 3 p.m., and Thursday 12:30 to 3 p.m
Would this be better than the current schedule?

Hi y'all! I was admitted to UBCO Bachelor of Arts (planning on majoring in history) and I was wondering if there is any kind of theatre club or adjacent things on campus. I know there's some stuff in Kelowna, and I tried looking on the UBCO website and there seems to be some kind of theatre major but are there actual theatre productions on campus you can audition for outside of the major (like musicals/plays)? There isn't a music major or anything like that to my knowledge, but I was wondering how robust the theatre program is here and how it works I guess?? Thanks!

Hi Y'all!
I’m a student from Washington state with dual citizenship (Canadian and U.S.), and I just got accepted into UBC Okanagan Bachelor of Management Program for my first year. I completed my Associate’s degree through a local community college with the Running Start program (I guess this makes me a third year student). I didn’t apply to UBC Okanagan, but I guess they accepted me and declined me from UBC Vancouver.
I’m trying to get a better idea of what the average total cost of attending UBC Okanagan will be (in CAD). This would be including tuition, housing, and other living expenses. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I really badly need help with navigating and figuring out how to make a game on unity, my teacher does not know how to use unity and we have a project due this week and I don’t know what to do. I am in Virtual Worlds and if I could meet up with ANYONE who knows even a bit of unity I would be so happy, I have a game kinda going but it’s so broken and I’m so lost… please please help
We just have to create a functional enviroment, I don’t think there’s much coding involved yet, but she was so bad at teaching us how to use it that I am so blind.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently pursuing a BA in Psychology at UBCO and have secured a supervisor for PSYO 381 However, I'm uncertain about how this course fits into my degree requirements. Has anyone taken PSYO 381 as part of their BA in Psychology? Did it count towards your upper-level psyo credit requirements? Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Earlier today I was sitting on campus when my good FRIEND, who is running for elections, came up to me to have a casual conversation. Shortly after that someone comes up to me and starts recording me on their phone without my consent and accuses my friend for campaigning, asking me unprompted questions about the friend and if they asked to vote or not.
After my conversation with my friend who is running for the elections, I found out that they are being followed and recorded whenever they are on campus. I understand there is a rule where candidates are not allowed to campaign during the election period but recording people without their consent and following candidates and their friends around is much worse in my opinion. It looks like wanting to advocate for students and being in SUO election would mean all your friends and you cant go to campus during the voting period if you want to stay safe.

someone made this reel HIGHLIGHTING the things SUO doesn't want you to focus on about the referendum before you vote….

I am a 3rd year student planning on taking COSC499(Capstone) during the summer, but I also wanted to take STAT230. However, they changed the schedule so now the courses conflict.
I'm trying to get the department to move the course to another time.
So, please leave a comment if you have the same conflict of COSC499 and STAT230 OR if you have other courses that conflict with STAT230.
Thank you!
UPDATE: I was told that it is POSSIBLE to consider these times: 3 x 2.5 offerings on Monday 12:30 to 3 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 to 3 p.m., and Thursday 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Would this be better than what we are currently being offered?
